August Inspirations by Jennifer Jacques

Hello fanatics!

It's my turn on the blog today and I have my usual  3 layouts for you!
3 layouts, 3 different collections :)

First of all, I will start with a Remnants layout.
"Vignette" paper is my background on which I applied clear gesso, paste with a stencil and finally added some sprays and splatters.  To add more texture, some random stamping with Grungy grid stamp.

The Butterfly grid was covered with black gesso and some wax.  In layers, some flairs through my Blue Fern Studios flowers like Spring florals and some Spring peony & berries.  I've completed with some other flowers from my stash and small ornements.  Also used Devonshire paper to die-cut my leaves ;)

My title came from the chippies set Seasons and was perfect for a lilac picture from my backyard.
Simply embossed it with the magnificent Amethyst embossing powder.  As a final touch, some Tickled seedlings :)

Here is an old-fashioned layout for me: no mixedmedia here!
With the beautiful In the mood collection :)

The background is Peaceful paper and I've made some tags out of Ecstatic and Pensive papers.  You can see them better just below.  The title is from Arrow words chippies set and was covered with black gesso and waxes.  Below the red tag, you can see that I've used the border of Lace #2 to add dimensions to my layout.

Above, I've placed some die-cut doilies under my clustering and
embossed 2 of them with Pink Dust embossing powder.

Below, I've completed my flower clustering with  Natural Sprigs set and choose to embossed them with one of my favorite green color for leaves and that is Forest embossing powder.

Also done some random stamping on my background with my favorite stamp: Tattered Newsprint.

The Sun Room is my background here.  Clear gesso, watercoloring, splatters and some white embossed stamping with Tattered Newsprint stamp again (told you it was my fav ;) and Snow EP.

You can barely see under that I've placed my focal point on Screen panel piece which is simply covered with white gesso.    Some Doodle Flowers chippies are embossed with  It's a girl EP, a soft pink glittery embossing powder.  This beautiful fuschia flower came from Heartland Blossoms.

Here, the pink flowers are Remnants blooms and the whites are from 2 different sets:
Christmas blooms and Garden blooms.
The delicate leaves are die-cut pieces from The Garage paper.

The title is from Tattered walls ephemeras.  You can also see some other pieces on my picture's right side.  In some places, also tucked in some Burgundy Lace 10 flowers.

February Inspiration with Sandi Clarkson!

"On the Road"

Hello, Blue Fern fans! Sandi here with you today sharing my February projects with 3 different collections.
For this project, I've chosen the Serendipity range which works nicely with this particular photo of my daughter. As have several others, I've chosen Contemplation as my background layer. It seems to be quite popular! I really went to town on the mixed media with this one  .. it is hard to even see my stamping.

The Swan Gate is a gorgeous piece of chipboard! I've used it here as a photo layer along with some random pieces of Calling Cards and Chronicle.  The gate was heat embossed with Ginger Embossing Powder with various intensity of heat so that some of the powder is not totally embossed. Then I went over the gate with Gold and Patina metallic rub medium.

Titles are hard for me, so I love that Blue Fern carries so many title pieces. This one was perfect! After I gessoed it to give it some tooth, I just did my favorite thing which is to ink them up! When I was completing my page, I added some copper glitter randomly over the page but made sure to give this title  some chunky love.

Once again, I've merely gessoed and inked my chipboard piece, even making the little bird the same color as the branch. Then a fussy cut butterfly (Merriment) was added for more dimension and color. Right beneath this branch you can see some of my stamping.

The B Side of the Chronicle paper is a beautiful damask look, while the A side provided fussy cut flowers. The little bird is from the Glee papers. A Calling Card makes a great title mat.

A few more butterflies cut from the Merriment sheet finish things off. I've also tucked in an older flower from my stash that matched perfectly and provided some femininity to juxtaposition against the more grungy papers and textures.

Just one more close-up of that gorgeous Swan Gate.
A final splatter of white paint and this one was done!

"You are Unforgettable"

This project was a true labor of love. This 12x12 Butterfly Grid is a lot of chipboard! There are so many directions you could do with this one but I decided to add color. It didn't turn out quite like I imagined it but it was fun nonetheless. And I'm anxious to use this piece again.
I've used the Timeless Main Street as my background and added Calling Cards for my photo layers.

The Majestic Frame was embossed with a powder from my stash but the title piece was done with Blue Fern Ebony Embossing Powder. After that, I got to work on the butterflies using paints and then Mystic Plum and Iris Embossing Powders.

Everything got a little white to paint to help with blending.

Gold and violet flowers were added, although the gold are looking a little orange-ish here,

You can see here that parts of the grid were cut away in the corners so that the paper floral design would show.  Also, some of the butterflies were cut to allow me to lift their wings.

A final side view.

"Dreams Come True"

You probably have already seen this project if you made it here for the February Sketch Challenge Post. This one was created with the Blush Collection which I have found so easy to scrap … my fave colors. The background was embossed with the Brocade Texture stamp and 14K Embossing Powder. I also did some other light stamping with the Forever stamp. Then lots and lots of layers from mostly torn paper but also plenty of fussy cut layers as well.

I totally love the medley and ironworks type pieces. Here I've embossed the  Ironworks Medley piece with Copper Embossing Powder and then randomly smudged it with an antique gold and a patina wax metallic finish. I adore the look of patina on my chipboard pieces! You can also see the fussy cut florals I've tucked in as a layer.

The Dreams come True title piece was embossed with the Fern color Embossing Powder and then I rubbed more of the antique gold metallic finish on it as well Dabbed it with white paint for a good shabby look!

A few more fussy cut pieces from Cupid's Folly, a heart, florals and a wee butterfly.

The embossed background looks so cool! I plan to do this again soon! The 14K just shimmers and the brocade stamp is the bomb!

A final shot to just show you some of the dimension on the page.

August Projects by Melinda Thompson

Hello everyone,

I have 2 layouts to share with you today showcasing some super super gorgeous Blue Fern Chipboard and papers.

My first layout is using the Deja Vu collection papers again.. I started with the layering 2 peices of paper from the collection as my base then I placed the gorgeous Butterfly Grid over the top which I covered in Gesso first.

"Memories"

Before I stuck my Butterfly Grid down I partially cut out come of the butterflies to "lift" them off the page and make them come to life.  This was perfect way to show this photo of my little man who is always outside, its his favourite place to be, always trying to catch butterflies.

Products Used:
Papers: Deja Vu
Chipboard:  Butterfly Grid, Memory Frames, Picture Perfect

My next layout is using papers from the Ombre Dreams Collection.  Don't think I will ever tire of using that collection.

I have added lots of masculine type chipboard to this layout. I love to layer and layer my chipboard to create lots of demension, texture and interest to my page.

"Bros"

I always start with covering my chipboard with Gesso.  This will hold any colour of ink to your chipboard.  I glue everything down and then I add my colours.  Using a fine paint brush I randomly flick my colours around and spreading it further by misting it with water.

Products Used:
Papers: Ombre Dreams
Chipboard:  Circle Links, Cogs and Gears, Faucets, Hooks and Keys, Lightbulbs, Moving Parts, Techno-Scape, Software Peices

Thank you so much for stopping by:)

My First DT Projects By Angelica Franssen

Hello everyone! Angelica here with you today. I'm so excited to finally share my very first  projects as Blue Fern Studios designer. I’m so delighted to be part of a team with amazing designers and fantastic products. I hope this year you’ll be inspired by my projects. Here is a little bit about me….

My name is Angelica and I’m a stay-at-home mom. I’ve been married for sixteen years and have four children. I first started scrapbooking about fifteen years ago while my husband was serving in the military. He was frequently deployed and I needed something to keep me occupied. I wasn't a crafter until I found scrapbooking and never looked backed.  I love the art it's become today. I'm very passionate about scrapbooking and this has led me achieve a small successful business on Etsy.

You can find me at my blog
http://angelicascrappenings.blogspot.com/
This is my first project based on the sketch:
I used the Meadows of Time, Botanical Garden and Calling Cards pattern paper from the Sanctuary Collection. I painted the Grunge Frame chippy randomly with gesso and misted it. Once it was dry I added just a tad bit of burgundy paint.

For this layout I used the Garden Plaza and Conservatory papers also from the Sanctuary Collection. I did some layering with the Large Roman Clock pieces. Painting them with gesso then adding some textured paint.  Once dried I place the small clock on top of the large.

The Butterfly Grid had to be my most favorite piece. If you know me, you know I adore butterflies. I painted the grid and adhered it to the Boudoir pattern paper. Then, I layered the Tattered Butterflies over larger butterflies on the grid. Making it three dimensional.

Thank you for taking the time.....see you next month!!!
