February Layouts - Created by Sharon!

Hi Everyone!

I am very happy to be here sharing the layouts that I made for February!

My first two pages were made with the new and gorgeous "In the Mood" collection:

This collection just blew me away!  It is so perfect for those romantic, family, or love photos.

My First Layout:  Two Worlds, One Family:

I used a favorite photo of my daughters, Katie and Anne, taken back in 2005 on Valentine's Day.  I thought it would be wonderful to use lyrics from "Two Worlds, One Family" written by Phil Collins.

Isn't the paper beautiful?  I love the In the Mood collection!

I featured the paper "Ecstatic" here because of the beautiful, bold colors.  And I LOVED using the magical Pixie Dust Embossing Powder on the Family and Doily Bunting chipboard pieces.  I also embossed directly on my page using the Brocade Texture stamp.

Here are some close ups:

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: In the Mood "Ecstatic"
Chipboard: Family, Doily Bunting, In the Mood Printed Chipboard Shapes, Homespun Printed Chipboard Shapes
Embossing Powder: Pixie Dust
Stamp: Brocade Texture
Flowers: Moody Florals, Christmas Blooms
Seedlings: Pink Topaz
Lace:  Lace 6

My Second Layout:  You Make Me Smile

I found an adorable old photo of my daughter, Anne, and her friend, Ava, taken quite a few years ago.  Both girls are adopted from China and have remained friends over the years!

Again, I thoroughly enjoyed using the paper from the In the Mood collection.  This time I picked "Flirty" to feature and "Dreamy" to use in my background.

Here are some close ups:

I also want to mention that I loved working with the Celestial and Antique Gold embossing powders!

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: In the Mood "Flirty" and "Dreamy"
Chipboard: You Make Me Smile, Bits of Honey, In the Mood Printed Chipboard Shapes, Homespun Printed Chipboard Shapes
Embossing Powder:  Celestial, Antique Gold
Glitter: Pink Carnation
Flowers: Moody Florals
Seedlings: Pink Topaz
Lace:  Lace 11

Both of these pages are close to my heart and using Blue Fern Studios' In the Mood
collection made them all the more enjoyable to scrap!

My Third LayoutBe Your Own Kind of Beautiful

And the last layout I created using the awesome Homespun collection:

 Here is my page:

My daughter, Anne, was a part of a fashion show "Go Red for Women,"  which supports and helps make women aware of their heart health in 2008.  A friend of mine took these photos and I still think they are adorable.

I used the Homespun collection this time and featured the beautiful "Picturesque" paper.

Some close ups:

I had fun making curtains for this page using the gorgeous Lace 6!

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: Homespun "Picturesque"
Chipboard: Braided Gem Frame, Homespun Printed Chipboard Shapes
Embossing Powder: Ivory
Glitter: Ruby Slipper
Flowers: Homespun Blooms

My hope is that I inspired you to create!

Thank you so much . . . and happy scrapping everyone!

January projects by Annie Samson

Hi everyone,

I am very honored and excited to be a part of this fabulous team and share my first projects whit you.

First, let me introduce myself !

I am 39 years old and I live in the French province of Quebec in Canada. My daughter who is now 19 years old,  is the inspiration for almost all my layouts. I love to create texture and add mediums to my layouts.  Flowers and chipboard are also 2 of my most preferred ornaments.

For my first layout, Sparkles,  I used the back of the Noel paper in the Vintage Christmas collection.

I  added a little bit of texture with modeling past and added a very light beige color with acrylic paint.

I used the Swirly CircleShabby Flake, Frosty Flake and Winter Forest chipboard to create a winter scene.

I have embossed my snow flake with Antique Gold, my deer with Mushroom, the trees with Forest and my swirl with Ruby embossing powders.

And I added some flowers from Attic Charm Glitter Roses and Late Winter Lilies to complete the winter scene.

For my second and third layouts, I used the Heartland collection.

I have used the Raspberry embossing powder to emboss my 2 chipboard pieces: the title Just the 2 of Us and Spirit of Heartland. Then I applied a thin coat of gesso on my chipboard.

I added flowers from Attic Charm Glitter RosesHeartland BlossomsHeartland Roses and Blossoms and Late Winter Lilies collections.

Then I added a heart from Frilly Heart chipboard kit stamped in green with the Brocade Texture stamp.

For my last layout, I used the back of the Love Bloom paper. Because I love texture, I added modeling paste through a stencil and added a little bit of pink color with ink.

I choose to paint my Turkish Bits, Together is the Best Place to Be and one piece of the Graduated Squares chipboard with with acrylic paint. Then I used some brown and blue ink to add color to my chipboard. I wanted to keep them soft because the main paper and the flowers are very colored.

Sandi's April Inspiration!

 "Brown Eyed Girl"

Hello there, everyone! Sandi here with you today!
I am going back a bit and creating a couple of projects with our Serendipity collection.
It's wonderful mix of rich earth tones and grunge widen it's appeal to more paper crafters.

The background paper on the first project is Chronicle and then I've added torn Glee, Contemplation and Calling Cards.

Hiding on the left is a Butterfly Grid remnant from a previous month. But the main focus here is the Berry Stem embossed with Verdant And Grassy Knoll. You can see a bit of the Brocade Texture stamp which I adore!

Brown-Eyed Girl was simply inked with brown and then given a dose of random glitter.

I had fun with the Techno-scape chippy using Ginger Embossing Powder and then sprinkling on Mermaid Glitter! I cut it in half so that it could peek out under my layers.

Great close-up of the Brocade stamping.

"And so … "

There is nothing I enjoy more than creating a canvas project! It feels so liberating to know that if I mess it up, I can just cover it with gesso and try again. And sometimes, you just get stuck in a rut when you do layouts consistently. So, the other day, I let loose and allowed the inner artist to have some expression.

I started with an 8x8 canvas and decided that I wanted to use this inspirational quote from the Serendipity Calling Cards sheet as my focal point.  I also tore some scraps from the Merriment sheet to place in the center and in the corners.

Before adding my papers, I prepared the background with gesso and then had fun with my Imagine Ink mists, Fern, Cotton Candy and Winter Mint .. drying between colors.  More dimension was created with some stamping utilizing the Brocade Texture, Textures 1 and Photography stamps.  Of course, I did some stenciling and created texture with super heavy gesso.

The Twilight Garden Frame frames my primary focal point. I first painted it black and then used  Oatmeal, Peacock and 14K Embossing Powders to give it character! Great combination, by the way. I love how rustic it looks!

Then I added some embellishments that were laying on my desk, some flowers, a junkyard light bulb, ribbon and a couple of stick pins. I fussy cut some of the Merriment butterflies and worked them in as well.

Of course, I had to use one of my new Courtship Blooms because I adore their size and shape.
My finishing touch was to apply some mircro-beads with clear gel medium.

Chipboard: Twilight Garden Frame
Stamps: Brocade Texture, Textures 1, Photography

Since I felt that I hadn't really got to dig into my Timeless papers, that's where I went next.

"The Perfect Moment"

I prepared my background with gel medium and black gesso pushed through a stencil. Then I  used some gold mist to bring out the yellow tones in the paper. I finished with the Postal Texures stamp to remind myself of my Grandma's faithful correspondence.

The photo of my brother and me with our Grandma Key was taken on her small farm in Indiana. She was such a special lady, always had a kind word, worked hard, raised 10 kids and loved her flower garden. She was so faithful to write me and there was always a mention of how her flowers were doing ... or that she couldn't wait for Winter to be over so that she could get outside. So, I had to pull out my fave BFS chipboard, Ginger's Poppies and put them on her layout!

I prepared the Poppies, as well as the Paisley and Vine Flowers with white gesso, the used gelato for color and went back with my embossing powder in Garnet.  Before I went to heat the powder, I sprinkled in some Pyrite Glitter, just to give the flowers a hint of shine like dewdrops.

Just a close-up.

Additionally on the Paisley and Vine leaves, I did some stamping with Postal Texture stamps, always a nice touch!

Lastly I added some dimensional flowers and berries and a random key laying on my desk. Nothing is complete these days without some added glitter or microbeads, so I've added some black chunky glitter.

Just a couple of dimensional shots!

Three layouts with the Serendipity and Courtship Lane collections by Marie-Josee

Hello, Blue Fern Studios fans!

Today, I will show you three layouts I created with the latest Blue Fern Studios collections, Courtship Lane and Serendipty. Here they are.

"Memory of Yesterday" layout

For this layout featuring my grandmother in 1936, I used various papers of the Courtship Lane collection.

I used the Brocade Texture stamp and Blue Fern Studios embossing powders (Lilac and Iris) to add texture and details to my background.

I also used the Arcadia Textures stamp with brown ink in the top right corner and the bottom left corner.

For my title, I used the word "Yesterday" from the Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday chipboard set. I also used pieces of the Garden Lattice Bits set.

"I Think You're Wonderful" layout

For this layout, I used the Serendipity collection.

I embossed all the chipboards I used (I Think You're Wonderful and Whimsy Flourishes) with Blue Fern Studios embossing powders. I started with the lightest color, Sea Mist. Then I added more embossing ink and sprinkled a bit of Blue Sky embossing powder and heated it.

I also used the Brocade stamp with the Sea Mist embossing powder on my background.

"Become your best you" layout

For this layout, I used the Courtship Lane collection and the brand new Blue Fern Studios flowers, which match the Courship Lane collection.

The chipboards I used are the Circle Flourish - Small and the Gatsby Collage. I cut the Gatsby collage in two pieces and put each one under the Circle Flourish.

I also used a stamp from the Shabby Edges stamp set.
