Double Z fold Christmas card

Hi everyone, DT Henriëtte here today sharing a double Z fold card made with the new
Christmas Cheer collection.

I found the inspiration and a tutorial for this special fold card on
Kathy Clement's Youtube channel.
I made the cardbase from ivory cardstock and decorated all the panels with the
beautiful Christmas Cheer patterned papers.

On the center panel I made a pocket for a big tag.
I will write my Christmas wishes on the tag.

I used the ephemera pieces from the collection to decorate the card but also
two chipboard pieces.
I embossed the chipboard with oatmeal embossing powder.
On the chipboard Christmas tree I glued Fir tree seedlings.

The back of the Z fold card is also decorated with the cheerful papers.

I'm very pleased with the result.
This special card will be on it's way soon,  I hope it's recipient likes it too.

Thanks for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog.

Hugs, Henriëtte.

If these walls could talk - layout by Vicky Alberto

This is the cute bungalow we moved from last year (yet remained in the same community), after purchasing our lake house. I still get emotional when I think of almost 18 years worth of memories in that place.

For this layout I used Blue Fern's gorgeous Remnants paper collection, coordinating adhesive shapes, lace, flowers, garden daisies chipboard and tattered walls ephemera. A few little embellishments from my stash to tie everything together.

On the close-up, you can see that I used Blue Fern's lavender seedlings on the garden daisies chipboard. They perfectly matched the purple lilacs in the photo. I still miss all the pretty lilacs we had on that property! Well, as always... thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my project today.

Taken From The Past by Debbie Burns

Hi everyone!  Debbie here today to share a frame I altered with the Attic Charm collection.

I started off with a small white decorative frame which I dabbed with some rose gold wax.  I then began to build up layers by using Curio, Calling Cards and Attire papers from the Attic Charm collection.  In addition to building up layers I did a lot of fussy cut work from papers.

Here I used a couple of older chipboard pieces from Blue Fern Studios which I embossed with Pink Dust embossing powder.  I lightly dabbed on some rose gold wax and added a sprinkling of Gold Nugget, Tickled and Sweet Pea Seedlings.

Tucked between layers I used some Blue Fern lace and flowers from Moody Florals and
Chesterville Blooms.  I added some fussy cut work from the Attic Key, Attire, Curio and Mercantile papers.

Lots of fussy cut images.

Lots of layers!

Authentic Canvas

Hi everyone!  Today I have a mixed media canvas to share with you using the Happy Accident 2 collection.

I started off by stamping randomly on the canvas with the Grungy Grid and Forever stamps.  Next I added some flourishes with paint and a stencil, and then added some copper wax.  I created layers using the
Balmoral, Chase, Grubby and Faux papers from Happy Accident 2, along with some Happy Accident 2 ephemera.

To the right I used the Blooms & Butterfly chipboard piece, which I cut in half.  I embossed it with Blue Fern Chile Powder Embossing Powder and dabbed on some blue paint and copper wax.  I tucked in a couple of flowers from Harvest Lilies and  Happy Floral. I covered the chipboard piece at the bottom with copper wax and stamped over it with the Grungy Grid stamp.

Here I used the other half of the Blooms & Butterfly chipboard, along with some other Blue Fern Chipboard that I embossed with Chile Powder Embossing Powder, then dabbed with blue paint, added copper wax and some stamping.

The title is from the Arrow Words 2 set.  To finish off the canvas, I applied some mini art stones along with some Paprika and Evening Sky Seedlings.

Win or learn never lose

Hi everyone!  Debbie Burns here with you today.  I'm so excited to be back designing for Blue Fern Studios.  I've been a fan of their products for years and was lucky to have the opportunity to design for Blue Fern Studios over the last few years.   I look forward to sharing my projects with you this year.

I've been paper crafting for the past twenty years, and I am always experimenting with various mixed media techniques.   Today I have a mixed media canvas to share with you that I created using the
Happy Accident 2 collection.

I started off with blank canvas and added texture with paints, waxes, modeling paste and papers. Lots of layering using the Suave and Grubby papers and ephemera from the Happy Accident 2 collection.

The title is from the Happy Accident 2 printed chipboard.   To the right I used a Late Winter Lily which I dabbed with some brown rust effect paste and added some Blue Fern Paprika and Twig Seedlings.

I placed a few pieces of chipboard among my layers.  To the right I used the Criss Cross chipboard, embossed with Blue Fern Melon Embossing Powder.  To the left I used a Classic Mini Frame chipboard, painted Blue and gold.

To the left and right of my layering I placed a Chesterville Blooms coral flower which I dabbed with some gold wax.  I also placed a Swirls &Twirls chipboard piece, covered with gold wax.  Tucked beneath the Late Winter Lily I used a blue flower from The Chesterville Blooms.  The finishing touch, Twig and Paprika Seedlings.

I hope I have inspired you.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sharon's September pages . . .

Hi everyone . . . September is here and with it came such sad news about the closing of BFS.  I know that the scrapbook world will never be the same.

Today I would like to share 3 new layouts with you. Two were made with the newest collection:  "Happy Accident 2," and the first I made using "In the Mood," which is one of my favorites.

Layout #1:  Sweethearts

I featured a photo of my mom and dad on their wedding day here.  She was 19 and he was 21 when they got married.  So young!  The "In the Mood" collection seemed perfect for this treasured photo.

Here is a close up:

I loved the "plenty of gems" chipboard pieces and embossed and decorated them with Taupe EP and pink topaz seedlings.

And another view:

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: In the Mood "Pensive," "Flirty," and "Blissful"
Chipboard: In the Mood printed chipboard, Plenty O' Gems

Seedlings: Pink Topaz
Lace:  Lace 3, Lace 3B, Lace 10

My last two layouts were made with the newest (and amazing, I must add!) Happy Accident 2 collection:

Layout #2:  Smile Because it Happened

I highlighted a special photo of my daughter, Anne and three of her friends taken at "Chinese Camp" in 2012.

Here is a close up:

A subtle change I made to the back of a pretty frame from the ephemera kit - I stamped it with the fleur wallpaper stamp, and embossed it with baby pink embossing powder:

And finally, here is a different view:

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: Happy Accident 2 "Suave" and "Tonic"
Chipboard: Arrow Words, "Smile because it Happened"
Embossing Powder: Ivory, Baby Pink
Flowers: Moody Florals
Seedlings: Sterling Silver
Stamp: Fleur Wallpaper
Lace: Ivory Braided Trip
Ephemera: Tattered Walls

Layout #3:  Be the Light

Once again, I used papers from the gorgeous Happy Accident 2 collection.

For this layout, I scrapped photo of my daughters, Katie and Anne taken when we were walking at Jacobsburg Park last summer.  I love how the light is shining through the woods in the photo which inspired this entire pare.

Here is a close up:

I felt that the chipboard piece "Be the Light" was so ideal here!  I embossed it with Blue Sky embossing powder.  And I also used the Scripture from Matthew 5:16 on my journaling tag from the ephemera pack.

Another close-up:

It's subtle, but I wanted you to see how I embossed directly on my page using the
Accidental Collage stamp.

Here's a different view:

Sharon's August Layouts!

Hi everyone!  Welcome August!

Today is the day I have been looking forward to all month.  It's the time I get to share 3 new layouts with all of you!  My pages for the month of August all have a family theme  - I want to honor and preserve my family photos and share with you how wonderful (and easy!) it is to make layouts that mean something to you!

So without further ado, here they are:

Layout #1:  Life is Full of Surprises

I used a photo that I took of my daughter, Anne, in 2012.  She loves to ride her bike,  and on this particular afternoon, she got on her bike while she was still in her dress that the wore to church.  I have hidden journaling about this tucked under the photo.

For this layout, I used the gorgeous "Tattered Walls" collection.  I really love all of the beautiful paper in this collection.  This particular paper is entitled "The Sun Room."

Here is a close up:

As you can see, I stamped and embossed directly on the edges of my page to bring your eye directly to the photo.  I also embossed my chipboard with Buttercup embossing powder.  You have to try Blue Fern Studios' embossing powder - it is a dream to use!!!

Here is another view:

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: Tattered Walls "The Sun Room"
Chipboard: Persian Ornament,  Blooming Curls, "Life is full of Surprises"
Stamp:  Grungy Grid
Embossing Powder: Buttercup, Celestial
Flowers: Wanderlust Vine, Fresh Florals
Seedlings: Lemonade
Glitter: Army Dust
Lace:  Lace 3B, Lace 10
Ephemera: Tattered Walls

Layout #2:  Fabulous

Here, I used a photo of my niece, Sarah, age 3, and my daughter Katie, age 8, taken for Mother's Day in 1997.

This time, I used the beautiful and versatile "In the Mood" collection.  I love how the pinks and reds of the paper go perfectly with the pinks of Sarah's and Katie's dresses.

To give you a better look, here is a close up:

And a different angel:

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: In the Mood "Amused" and "Peaceful"
Chipboard: In the Mood printed chipboard, Opulence, Elegant Flourish, "Fabulous"
Embossing Powder: True Red, Black Sand
Flowers: Garden Blooms, Summer Blooms
Seedlings: Flaming
Glitter: Gilded Rose, Soot
Lace: Lace 1, Lace 10, Lace 12

Layout #3:  Our Family

This layout features the very gorgeous Tattered Walls collection.  The paper is entitled "The Carport."  (I have said this before, but I really love how each of these papers are named after a room!)

For this layout, I featured photos of our immediate family that were taken for our Christmas photo this past year.  I especially loved using the small chipboard frames embossed in gold and the gold Lace 9C to emphasize and clearly define them.

Here are some close ups:

I stamped and embossed the edges of my paper with the "Night Sky" embossing powder.   I also embossed the chipboard "solar dangles" with Night Sky EP.  This EP is spectacular and goes perfectly with this patterned paper.
