Here's my first projects as Blue Fern Studios Design Team member.

'Follow Your Heart'

For this first layout, I made a step-by-step video tutorial that you can watch below. I used the paper Heartland XOXO to start this project. First, I made a textured background with a stencil and modeling paste. I used yellow and caramel inks to add colors. I also add details with the 'Making Plans' and 'Vintage Phrase' stamps.

Then, I embossed my chipboards 'Crackle Bits' with BFS Imagine Ink Embossing Powder 'In the Navy'. I used 4 pieces of this chipboard under my picture. I cut one piece to make the design I wanted. I used 3 others papers of the Heartland collection to put under my picture.

I embossed my title 'Follow Your Heart' with BFS Imagine Ink Embossing Powder 'Honey'.

Then, I glued many Blue Fern Studios blue, yellow, white and turquoise flowers.

Here's the link to see the video tutorial:

I embossed the 'Floral Lattice Bits' chipboards with BFS Imagine Ink Embossing Powder 'Garnet' to add a little bit of colour. I used pieces of Vintage Christmas 'Greeting Cards' paper and Vintage Christmas 2 'Holiday Cards' to put under my picture.

I embossed the chipboard 'Circle Vine' with BFS Imagine Ink Embossing Powder 'Ginger' and my title 'Magnifique' from the French Adjectives 1 chipboard set with BFS Imagine Ink Embossing Powder 'Garnet'.

Then, I add many Blue Fern Studios flowers.

Three times mixed media with Attic Charm by Wilma Voermans.

For this layout I used the monthly sketch which you will find here.
Orange is a favorite color for me, to use in vintage aswell as modern layouts.
This picture shows my daughter ready for travelling on the station.
The whole scene gave me a vintage feeling. I love that picture.
My starting point was the KEY paper (B-side).
I use mostly B-sides of papers, no intention, I just like them better ..

The sketch ( I turned it)

For the orange color I  used beads

I colored the white daisies with the orange heart with paint and gesso.
Afterwards I felled sorry for this, because 1 week later my son married.
And what had the bride in her bouquet??? White daisies with a orange heart !
And my beautiful white ones are used....

The lamppost is grunged up with embossing , gesso and paint.
To mimic the brigthness where the lightsource comes from I used golden paint ,
over golden embossing
*******

Second layout is also based on the June sketch.....
It was supposed to be  masculine, since I used a photo from one of my sons.
But there is a difference for me  between very masculine pictures for example in black and white.
This picture is in soft colors , so I did not overdo the masculine theme.

I started with the Sachet paper ( B-side)  out of the Attic charm collection.
My favorit without a doubt..
Colored the background with pastels and water., but left the beautiful pattern to show through.
In the background there are a few soft flowers that I covered up with gesso and my photocluster.
With a black perlpen, I draw random figures.
Than with a mask some greyish/blue inking.

The chipboard is a frame piece ,  one of the clipboard set.
I cut it up, used one as my love you title and the rest here and there over the layout.
I made a mix from nutmeg and oatmeal powder.
The color gets less intensive because of the oatmeal.
Tip for summerlayouts: Oatmeal is super for beachthemes!

The titel is just inked up with black drawing ink

*******

My last layout for today is also in green/orange  Like the first one.
It just came out this way :)
Although the orange is not that obvious like the first layout.

The start of the layout was on the beautiful Generation paper (Yes, again the B-side).
Starting off with two colors orange ink.  (offcourse first clear gesso )
Random heavy gesso, and than different shades of green embossing sprinkled over the background.
I have many many colors Blue Fern Studios embossing powder.
It is  such a luxury to pick the colors out of the whole range.
Here I used verdant and Lime..
Heatset it.
Than with a foliage stencil again heavy gesso.

The chipboard pieces I used are all embossed with pearl embossing powder.
Flourish, winter page dangle and title.

Thanks for visiting the blog,
I hope you liked my post.

Three layouts ideas with the new tranquility collection made by Wilma Voermans..

Today I would love to show you three different mixed media layouts .
All three made with the tranquility collection.
I love the line , it has many possibilitys.

My first layout is one with a grunge beach look.
On the beach you always find things like old wood, bitses and pieces.
On most of my beach layouts I like to use that feeling by adding things I find around me.
I started with the Contentment paper.
The B-side is perfect for a beach look.

I wanted a sandy feeling to the whole layout.
I added many layers, starting with joint compound in my background .
It has already a sandy feeling.
Two colors glimmerspray ,  turqoise and sandcolor.
Next some paper from a old notebook , very light swimmpearls
(the ones you use in flowerarrangements).

Around my picture pieces of a old shirt .
A little story about the titel ....
I came home and found my best shoes half eaten by my dog.....
I was very angry and dissapointed, but it is a dog that was found on the streets of Spain
She still has to learn some domestic things :)
So I thought, take the pieces and use the brandname as a titel.
On the layout you see more pieces I collected on the ground from my beloved shoes.

I used two chipboard pieces, seaside charms and Frolic mesh.
Stippled light gesso and than used three different embossingpowders .
I sprinkled them all three in the wet gesso and just heatet it here and there..

I did the same in the background, but did not heat at all.
The three colors: oatmeal, ginger and mushroom.
They gave me the perfect sandy look I wanted.

*******

My next layout was based on the Stillness title that comes with the Tranquility collection.
The background paper is the b-side of the Serenity paper.
I used the May sketch for the design:

I totally love the tranquil foliage chipboard piece .
With the title and mood of the picture I did not want too much on the page.
Sometimes enough can be enough for me.
The circle is a negative piece of chipboard that I never throw away.

ITo all the chipboard I stippled gesso .
When it was not completly dry I sprenkled orange Peel glitter .
After that a little sage embossingpowder.
I heatet with the heatgun, but not too much.
It gave me a rough surface.
On the title also the gesso, orange Peel glitter and some orange paint.
When it was still wet I went over the under part with gesso .
Just lightly to get the ombre effect.

*******

For the last layout I wanted a soft babyfeeling without getting sweetness all over the place.
I think the picture has enough sweet in it :)
I used the Stillness paper as my background aswell as behind the picture.
Behind and between I used a chipboard piece that comes to the Attic Charm collection.
This collection will be released soon !
I embossed it with Pearl embossing powder .
After that it got some gesso with pinkish ecoline here and there.
The heart was embossed with Garned Embossing and dulled down with gesso.
The title was very easy, just some black ink that gets into the chipboard very easy.

Thank you so much for visiting the blog and looking at my monthly post.

Three Serendipity layouts with Karine

Hi there Blue Fern Studios fan,

Karine's here today to share with you three layouts I created with our amazing Serendipity collection. My first one is called Moment.

I used the Fascination paper as my background. My composition is entered around the Ornate Frame, which I embossed with brown embossing powder . While the powder was still hot, I sprinkled some glass glitter.

My title piece is part of the French Words set. I painted it with white gesso first, and added some mist after. To make it pop a little bit, I added a few touches of white gesso.

I used exactly the same products to alter my Floral Lattice Bits.

To add texture to my background, I used the Forever stamps set.

My second layout is called Reminisce. Here it is.

I used the Merriment paper as my background.

To mat my picture, I used some cards from the Calling Cards paper.

I used the Quatrefoil panel behind my picture. I simply covered it with white gesso.

In my embellishments cluster, I used the Leafy Page Accents. To alter the chipboards, I used the Imagine Ink Garnet Embossing Powder and while it was still hot, I sprinkled some Pearl Embossing Powder.

My title piece, the Serendipity Words 2, was treated with the same steps.

I also used the Essential Textures stamps to alter my background paper.

My last layout is called Everlasting Love.

I used the Inspiration paper.

I centered my composition around the Gazebo chipboard. I started out by painting it with white gesso. I covered everything with two mist colors to get the right shade of blue. I wanted more texture, so I used the Garden Frolic stamp set and ink to add more interest. Finally, I added some grained grit over the roof of the Gazebo.

My title piece, the Everlasting Love chipboard, was primed with white gesso and then, I painted half of it with some mist.

You can see in the pictures that I used the Garden Frolic stamps sets to alter my background as well. I just love the stamps from this set: they are so versatile: lattice pattern (black ink), handwritten script (blue ink), some flowers (black ink).

I hope you'll give the Serendipity collection a try! It is just gorgeous.

Have a great day.
