Merry Christmas Finn by Vija Anton

Hello Blue Fern fans.  Today we post the final layout from our December Blue Fern Fan of the Month, Vija Anton.  We have fallen in love with each of her unique projects this month, and can't wait for you to see this one.  Vija, it has been such a joy to have you create with us this month.  You have given us and our readers some awesome inspiration, and we were able to give you some mojo to begin creating again!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

This is my last layout as Blue Fern's Fan of the month. Thank you Blue Fern Studios for giving me this opportunity to work with your beautiful products. This layout features a facebook friend's dog, Finn. I will be sending her this layout so I hope she likes it!

For the background I used the Magical paper and used the Wonderland and Homegrown papers for some fussy cutting. I love how these two collections compliment each other so well.

I have created dimension on my page by layering the elements. A double layer of foam tape under the cut out frame helps it sit nice and flat on top of the chipboard and that gorgeous lace.

I added touches of glitter here and there to give my layout a real Christmasy feel.
For me Christmas = glitter and sparkle!!!!

Blue Fern products used were:
Vintage Christmas papers: Magical and Wonderland
Homespun papers: Homegrown
Vintage Christmas printed chipboard
Chipboard: Holiday Vine and Folkart Frame
Glitter: Vintage gold and Christmas pear
Embossing Powder: Sea mist and pearl
Seedlings: Wintergreen
Lace: 9c
Stamp: Jingle bells

Waiting for the Bus by Tracy Funk

Today we welcome back our July Blue Fern Fan of the Month, Tracy Funk.
She has a super sweet layout to share with you today.

I'm so pleased to be back with my second layout as the Blue Fern Studios "Fan of the Month" for July. It's called "Waiting for the Bus" and features a photo of my sister Lori in 1960.

I used papers from Blue Fern Studios' Garden Life and Happy Accident collections.

On the Wallflowers paper that I used for the background I did some stencilling around the edges with molding paste.  While the paste was still wet, I sprinkled it with Baby Pink Imagine Ink embossing powder and heat set it.

I painted the Spirit of Heartland chipboard piece blue then applied watery white paint overtop with a sponge stippler.  I used an embossing marker to ink the flower parts and heat embossed them with the Baby Pink Imagine Ink embossing powder.  I also inked around the edge in black.

I also used a piece of Blue Fern Studios printed chipboard (one of the corner pieces).

I used the Garden Blooms flowers.

Products used:

Garden Life paper - Wallflowers
Garden Life paper - Merriment
Happy Accident paper - Lucky
Baby Pink Embossing Powder
Garden Blooms
Garden Life - Printed Chipboard

November's Social Media Highlights!

What?! Mid-November? I can hardly believe it!

Sandi here with you today sharing some November Social Media Highlights!

We love looking for YOUR work when we are out and about on Social Media and seeing the amazing things you create with our product! So, whether it's Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, be sure and tag us so that we don't miss a thing! It's also helpful when you mention the name of the product you've used. With over a 1000 products in the wholesale store, we want to be sure we've not overlooked what you've included.

Kana Abiko created this unique layout with a combination of paper collections, most notably Courtship Lane and Autumn Anthology by Michele Singh.  We love how Kana's altered the gazebo image from Autumn Anthology paper to make it look more like a little house. The window and photo behind it are such a clever idea! And look at that fussy cutting! You can see more of her creations Here and find her on Instagram at @abikokana.

We are especially excited to see that Jennifer Evans (Jenaroo) is back to scrapping after several years of pursuing her nursing degree! Look at this shabby-licious, layered beauty! Here she has used the Frolic collection along with the Discover chipboard and added a few of her signatures .. doilies and  flowers! To visit her blog, go HERE

Designer Paula Calvanico has also used our Sanctuary collection to create this beauty! Photo is of her and her hubby at 15 and 17! With this the month of Thanksgiving here in the States, we were drawn to her color choices and use of the pretty leaf embellishment. Paula blogs  HERE and is on Instagram at @paula_calvanico. Isn't true love something to be grateful for?

Next  up is this amazing layout by USA designer Heather Thompson. We love how she's altered the title piece and Persian Ornament Chipboard and used our Serendipity and Tranquility paper collection. This really puts us in the mood for a New Year's masquerade ball. Outstanding work, Heather! Please visit her at heifer21.wordpress.com and follow her on Instagram at @heifer21. You will love her attention to detail and wonderful techniques.

Mayu of Japan posted this amazing piece on Instagram where you can follow her at @mayucrop_sbtnc. The fussy cut work is what really grabbed us for a second, then third look! She's used our newest Memoires and chose the dark red to add some drama to her photo of a traditional Japanese rite of passage. Please visit her blog HERE

That's it for this month ... and what a great month of inspiration it is!
I hope you'll join me next month for a couple of special Social Media features!

Today it's all about YOU!

Watching you use our products gives us such great joy.   We think you will enjoy seeing what we have found on blogs, social media, and online galleries.

These beautiful cards created by Vera Shelemekh were made as thank you cards for teachers at the end of the year.  There is a compartment inside to tuck in a chocolate.

We came across this beautiful layout by Robin Shakoor in an online gallery.
Robin added the perfect embellishments to accent this paper from our Montage Collection.

Anna Rogalska had posted this layout on her blog, and we fell in love with it!  Isn't it amazing how she has duplicated the flowers in the photo she has used?  Paper is from the Blush Collection, and the chipboard title, The Best Day Ever, has been cut apart to better fit the design of the layout.

Mei entered this sweet layout in one of our sketch challenges, using paper from the Serendipity Collection.
The sweet photo jumps off the page with the layering of paper strips behind it.
The chipboard title is also from Blue Fern.

We were very excited to see this layout created by Joanne.
Can you guess which paper collection she used as the background for this layout?
If you really know Blue Fern products, you might recognize this as the backing for our larger pieces of chipboard.  What a creative example of re-purposing your packaging.  We love the design of this layout and how well the background brings out the beautiful blues in the photo.

Last, but not least, is this artsy mixed media piece by  Djamila Khiter , which she shared on our Facebook page.  She used paper from the Timeless Collection for the background.  Did you know that Blue Fern paper is nice and heavy, and can withstand layers of media?

Thanks to these amazing women for the beautiful ways in which you have used Blue Fern products!

We hope you will share your projects with us on Social Media!

Vintage Christmas with Video Tutorial by Marilyn Rivera

Hello everyone!  Marilyn here with you today sharing two projects and a video tutorial using the new collection Vintage Christmas.  I had a lot of fun playing with the new Blue Fern products glitter, embossing powder and mist.
For my first project, I chose the Sparkle Wreath and the Word Ornaments chipboards that I gave a coat of gesso and then I misted with the new Imagine Ink- Cotton Candy, you will see all my creative process in the video tutorial.

I used the Vintage Christmas-Noel paper and I loved the back side that has gold and red color tones that mix perfect with the mist, glitters and embossing powders.

Supplies list:
Vintage Christmas-Noel
 Imagine Ink-Cotton Candy
Imagine Ink- Glitters- Phoenix, Pyrite
 Sparkle Wreath, Word Ornaments-chipboards
Stamp- Textures 1

Now enjoy the video tutorial!!

"A Moment in Time"
My second project is inspired in the beautiful November sketch designed by Michele Singh.

I selected The Magical and Deck the Halls papers to make this page about my nieces with the beautiful French Ironwork and for my title the "A Moment in Time" chipboard. I embossed both chipboards with the Petal- embossing powder that has glitter and create a nice effect on the chippies.

I placed the French Ironwork chipboard behind my photos.

After I embossed my title I distressed the edges with a pen marker.

I punched the paper and draped one of the paper to create a design inspired in the sketch.

Supplies list:
Vintage Christmas: Magical and Deck the Halls papers
French Ironwork chipboard, A Moment in Time Chipboard
Imagine Ink- Embossing Powder- Petal

Thanks for stopping by...Until next time!
Love,

Three Layouts Featuring Autumn Anthology and Frolic

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today sharing 3 layouts I created.  My first two layouts feature the
new paper collection Autumn Anthology!  Absolutely love this new collection!  The colors and details
in the paper are beautiful!

I thought the new Autumn Anthology collection worked well with some old treasured family photos.
I love this old photo of my grandparents, my mom and her siblings.  I used Newsworthy, Mercantile, Gazebo and Calling Cards papers.  Lots of layering behind my photo and some fussy cutting.

I used one of the new Blue Fern Studios Imagine Ink Mica Color Mists, Sky on my chipboard title and then stamped it with the new Essential Textures stamps.

Tucked beneath layers of papers I used the Roman Clock chipboard.

Here I've used the new French Ironwork chipboard piece which I left untreated and use the new Persimmon mist.  Leaving the chipboard raw brought out a darker color in the mist.

I also used the new Leaf mist on a mini flourish chipboard piece.

On my next layout I used Calling Cards and Cottage papers from the Autumn Anthology paper collection. Here I've used another treasured family photo of my mom and her brother.
I did some masking on the background and misted with the Persimmon mist.
Here you can see when sprayed on a light background the color is much brighter.

The new chipboard piece, An Autumn Story was covered with acrylic glaze and given a light misting with the Persimmon mist.  I used a Garden Daisy chipboard which I misted with the Sky mist and cut apart to use in two different places on my layout.

The Garden Lattice Bits Chipboard was covered with an acrylic glaze.  Tucked into my flower cluster is the other piece of the Garden Daisy chipboard.

I used a piece of the Symphony border chipboard here in my flower cluster.

My final layout was created using the Frolic collection and was based off of the September sketch.
I used several papers on this layout, Amoroso, Friendship, Mercantile, Dan Le Jardin, Allegro, Secretary Calling Cards ,and Petits Moments, mostly for layering behind my photo

I took the Tea Medley chipboard piece and cut it in half, using it on both sides of my picture.  I primed it with gesso and embossed it with pink embossing powder.

Tucked within my flower clusters of piece of the Floral Medley Frame with I randomly sprinkled with pink embossing powder.

At the top of my layout I used the Jasmine Floral Pendant which I embossed with light pink embossing powder.

I hope you have enjoyed my layouts.  Don't forget that you still have time to enter our September Sketch Challenge.  You can find all of the details here.

Thanks for stopping by!
