A Fairy Good Life

The second project from our August Blue Fern Fan of the Month, Mariusz Gierszewski, is this very soft and magical layout.  Mariusz has beautifully used the frame of the paper as the base for this lovely design.  The chipboard, flowers and fussy cutting create a very eye-pleasing design for this sweet infant photo.

Here is what Maruisz had to say about this layout:

Another work in which I could bring you closer shabby style. I prepared at the begining chipboards by embossing powder and cut many emablishments from other papers. After that I start to build composition of fabric flowers in the corner and more or less oposite/middle side. On the top flowers I add the gesso. On the end I add few printed chipboard pieces from collection the all corners, and to decorate layout. Balance and harmony formed an integral whole.

Introducing our August Blue Fern Fan of the Month

Hello everyone.  It's difficult to believe that it is August already.  But with each new month, we get an opportunity to introduce you to a new Blue Fern Fan of the Month.  For the month of August, please join us in welcoming Mariusz Gierszewski from Poland.  He is a fabulous designer and you will love  how he uses our products.  You are sure to be inspired!

We will turn it over to Mariusz so he can tell you a little about himself:

My name is Mariusz Gierszewski. I come from Poland. I'm 26 years old and I'm young men who love papers, flowers and scissors. I live in Łodź in central Poland. My passions are scrapbooking, and card making.  Recently I tried to create something with mixed media.

First work I ever made was in August, 2012. My favorite styles are vintage and shabby. Blue Fern products are awesome for my shabby style. I love to make cards and albums, sometimes layouts.  I have been an educator and designer for several manufacturers.  I hold a lot of workshops each month in many countries like Spain, Latvia, Greece, Indonesia, Brasil, Sweden, Norway or Slovakia.

In my cards I try to show as much value as possible to the collection of paper. For this card I used the Garden Life collection.  These papers are awesome for shabby style and to the vintage look you can see on my cards.

I cut some flowers from papers and make the composition with 3D effect.
Afther that I attached fabric flowers from Garden Florals and Dark Tropic Lilies.  At the end I used
gesso to reduce intensive color.  In this way I receive soft and shabby effect.

Please be sure to check back next Wednesday when we will have another project from Mariusz.

Summer Breeze by Tracy Funk

We still have one more layout from our July Blue Fern Fan of the Month to share with you.  I think Tracy just might have saved the best for last.  The colors she has used are absolutely beautiful! It has been our pleasure to share her layouts with you this month.   Each one of them is filled with inspiration and her use of Blue Fern products is amazing. Thanks so much, Tracy, for sharing your vintage look and creative style with us.

Here is Tracy to tell you all about her layout:

"Summer Breeze" is my final layout for Blue Fern Studios as their fan of the month for July.  It features a photo of  my husband's grandmother, Audrey.  I had a wonderful time working with Blue Fern Studios products this month.

For this layout I used papers from the Garden Life collection.  I used the back of the Calling Cards paper as the background and the back of the Flower Bed paper for the die-cuts.

I did some random stamping on the background with dark grey ink using the Tattered Newsprint stamp.

I used several pieces of Blue Fern Studios chipboard (Dangled Lace, Garden Daisies-small and Layering Stems).

I coated the Dangled Lace piece with matte medium, then applied white crackle paint. When that was dry, I brushed it with black artisan powder, wiping off the excess with a damp cloth and then rubbed it with a bit of orange ink.

I painted the Garden Daisies grey and then brushed watery white paint over the petals.  I glued a mixture of beads in the center of each flower.

I painted the Layering Stems green then applied white glue to the petals and heat-embossed them with orange embossing powder.

I also used some printed chipboard from Blue Fern Studios' Garden Life and Happy Accident collections.

I used some alphabet stamps with dark grey ink to put the name on the printed chipboard piece.

I used the white and peach-coloured Happy Roses and applied orange ink to the edges of the petals.

Garden Life - Flower Bed paper

Garden Life - Printed Chipboard
Happy Accident - Printed Chipboard

To create my layout, I used the back side or the Petites paper.
I wanted to create a vintage layout about traveling made with an old family picture.
I used one stamp of the Travel time stamp kit and emboss-it with Pearl embossing powder direcly on the paper.
I used a part of Lace 5 under my picture to add dimention.
I used Avocado embossing powder on my Swallo boarder chipboard.
And I used some Vintage Jade glitter on my Explore title.
Than I had here and there chippies from the coordinated chipboard of Wanderlust collection.
To finish my layout, I haded some flowers from this collection.

Here some close-up to see details and dimention of my layout.

Party Dress by Tracy Funk

Welcome to Wednesday, everyone!  We are back with another project from our July Blue Fern Fan of the month, Tracy Funk, using the Garden Life Collection.  This photo from the 60's brings back memories for some of us!

I'm happy to be back with my third layout for Blue Fern Studios as their "Fan of the Month" for July. It's called "Party Dress" and features a photo of my sister, Linda, in 1965.

For this layout, I used the In Bloom paper from the Garden Life collection for the background and some cream-coloured cardstock for the doily die-cuts.

I used the Flutter Medley and Bohemian Flowers chipboard pieces. I heat-embossed the Flutter Medley with embossing powder and rubbed some white paint overtop.  I didn't like the contrast that created so I did a wash of watery white paint overtop to tone it down.  I applied golden yellow glitter glue to the butterflies.  When that was dry I squeezed some white glue on the interior portions of the wings and sprinkled it with Sunlight Rose Imagine Ink Embossing Powder before heat setting it.

The Bohemian Flowers were painted white and embossed with Baby Pink Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

I also used a couple of pieces of printed chipboard from the Garden Life collection.

I used some of Blue Fern Studios' Garden Florals, Garden Blooms and Happy Roses as well.

Waiting for the Bus by Tracy Funk

Today we welcome back our July Blue Fern Fan of the Month, Tracy Funk.
She has a super sweet layout to share with you today.

I'm so pleased to be back with my second layout as the Blue Fern Studios "Fan of the Month" for July. It's called "Waiting for the Bus" and features a photo of my sister Lori in 1960.

I used papers from Blue Fern Studios' Garden Life and Happy Accident collections.

On the Wallflowers paper that I used for the background I did some stencilling around the edges with molding paste.  While the paste was still wet, I sprinkled it with Baby Pink Imagine Ink embossing powder and heat set it.

I painted the Spirit of Heartland chipboard piece blue then applied watery white paint overtop with a sponge stippler.  I used an embossing marker to ink the flower parts and heat embossed them with the Baby Pink Imagine Ink embossing powder.  I also inked around the edge in black.

I also used a piece of Blue Fern Studios printed chipboard (one of the corner pieces).

I used the Garden Blooms flowers.

Products used:

Garden Life paper - Wallflowers
Garden Life paper - Merriment
Happy Accident paper - Lucky
Baby Pink Embossing Powder
