Bente's shabby June projects

Hi, it's almost the end of June but that is not something you would know from
the weather over here. In Sweden we love to celebrate Midsummer outside with our traditional
food and many like to  dance and sing around the 'May-pole'.
Well, I guess not much of that going on this year as yesterday was an utterly
blusery and rainy day unfortunately. So I stayed inside scrapping...
What better substitute, -for almost anything...?

Here's my first page:

I based my layout on the beautiful Montage collection and particularily one of my fave sheets
the blue and white side of 'Fairyland'. I did use a lot of media on top, but that is one of the
many great things about the Blue Fern Studios papers; they are very thick and awesome
quality so they are able to take a lot of experimenting!

I picked a pretty picture of my youngest looking for seashells on the seashore last Summer.
As this is a beach themed page I decided to frame my picture using the gorgeous Seaside Frame.
It's got a little seahorse, a star, an anchor, etc so it's just perfect!

At first I primed my page with gesso. When dry I added a layer of a blue paint. I mixed several shades to get it just the right colour. I added a layer of crackle glaze on top.
Before the crackle dried I sprinkled  some special fairy glitter and some tiny glass beads on top.
After all we were looking for treasure :-)

The cracks in the paint are really small but look very cute in real life.
Unfortunately they don't show up well in the photos.

My second page was made as an example for the June BFS sketch challenge .

For this one I used the delightful Deja Vu collection.
You'll find the sketch and everything you need to know about the challenge HERE.

The beautiful birdcage is part of a set of two. It's called Deja Vu Tweets chipboard and you
can find it HERE

There is a big contrast between the bright colours in the first page and this more subdued page.
-But I actually like to do a little of both. That way at least there's no risk I'll get bored :-)

As a title I used the word 'Adore' and you can find it HERE
The two other words of the set are Love and Cherish.

The butterfly is called Royal Monarchs and is part of a set of three different sizes.
You'll find them HERE.

The chipboard underneath the purple mini roses is called Layering Stems and is part of a set
of three different ones. You can see all of them HERE

And my third page and last one for today:

Picture is from last year when we took MIL out for a birthday dinner at the local yacht club (no we do not have a boat :-D).

I used Ombre Dreams for my page ,'Susans Dream'. I added a couple of layers in the middle. I used my trusty border punch this time. It's been too long....

I picked som Shabby Brick bits that I painted white and then sprinkled with yellow fine glitter.

The main chipboard piece here is the beautiful Beaded Flourish frame and you can take a closer look HERE.
I painted it, and when dry I stamped it with one of the 'Halftone' stamps. To further embellish it I added some gold stickles. I thought this would match well to the golden coloured mist I used on my background.

I hope you liked the pages that I prepared for you!
Thank you for visiting today! :-)

Design Team Inspiration

Welcome to the weekend!  Today we would like to take you on a journey of inspiration.  We love how our Creative Team combines Blue Fern paper, chipboard, and stamps, and each one does it in a very different way.  Here's what a few of them have created recently:

Marta Lapkowska created this mixed-media canvas using paper from the Love Story collection.  The chipboard pieces are the Grid Pieces, which you will see used multiple times in this post.

Jelissa Mei has used the Circle Code chipboard piece on her layout featuring a photo of her sweet boys.  You can't help but smile when you look at this photo!

The beautiful paper from the Love Story Collection (the Grand Ball) is the backdrop for Yuko Tanaka's elegant layout. You might notice that she, too, has used the Grid Pieces on her layout.

Bente Fagerberg has combined our Brick Rings and Happy title as the perfect accessories for this very soft and dreamy layout.  So simple, yet very elegant.

Having recently lost her beloved pet, Marie Josee Hamel created this layout in her memory.
Did you notice that she also used the Grid Pieces on her project?

Elena Morgun has combined a vintage photo with multiple Blue Fern chipboard pieces and paper from Love Story.

New Blue Fern Designer, Sandi Clarkson, has taken Hollywood glamor to a new level with this striking layout, also using paper from the Love Story Collection along with Blue Fern chipboard.  She has also used the Grid Pieces, but left in some of the negative spaces.

Galina Sazonova has used neutrals with a hint of color on this awesome layout.  The texture she has created is amazing.  Bits of the Turkish Panel chipboard can be seen in the background.

The Doodle Frame is perfect for showcasing the photo in this beautiful layout created by Keren Tamir.  Although we all love to alter our chipboard pieces, sometimes leaving it bare is perfect!

We hope you've found something here today that inspires you to create this weekend!

Angelica's June Projects

Hello everyone! Angelica here today to share my June projects with you! Since being on the DT I've been using one paper collection each month. Well, time to mix it up. Today, my three layouts are from three different paper lines.

First up is my take on the June Sketch just flipping it. I used two papers Ombre Dreams Collection; Charlotte's Dream and Joyce's Dream.

I used the Beaded String Chippy to further embellish my title. I used the word "Smile" for the Laughter, Happy, Smile set.

I used the Circle Vine chipboard piece to hold my photos.

For this page I used Boudoir from the Blue Fern Garden collection as my background. I fussed cut the Wisdom paper from the Montage Collection and matted my photo.

I really don't do much to my chipboard pieces. Just some thick gesso and mists.  Here I used the Estate Railing piece.
One of my favorite chippies are the Roman Clock Sets. Here I used the Large Set..

Last but not least, I used the Love Story Collection. My daughter loves Alice in Wonderland so I made this for her. This line was perfect! I used the True Harmony, Twenty One, and Amazing Heart papers.
I used the Queen of Hearts piece for my title and Heart Crowns as embellishments.
The Card Suit Melody chippy is so unique! Love it!

Well, I hope that you've enjoyed my projects for June! I will be back in August for I'm breaking for July!

Mixed media- with Keren Tamir

Hello Everyone, Its Keren here with two new projects for the Blue Fern Studios blog.

I really love experimenting with Mixed Media Products.
It has become my passion and so today I'm showcasing two different projects heavily based on mixed media using many different Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces

First up is a 6x6 Shadow Box Frame Butterfly Canvas.

The whole canvas was inverted and framed with the Chelsea Frame. The frame was embossed in blue embossing powder and then dabbed with silver acrylic paint.

The centre of the canvas was filled with blue and silver glass beads. Then I glued a piece of the Turkish bits chipboard on the background.  Finally i used two butterflies from the Gabrielle butterfly set. All three pieces were embossed in either blue, silver or white respectively.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

My Second project today is a Steampunk 8x10 Mixed Media Canvas using different mechanical looking chipboard pieces and a real light bulb.

Its called
"Let there be light"

I glued many different mechanical chipboard pieces like the cogs and gears, the light bulbs, the industrial corner, the working parts and some of the moving parts chipboard pieces.

They were all covered in black gesso and then painted on top with different metallic paints.

The final touch was adding a real light bulb from my house. We recently changed a few of our light bulbs inside our home and so I've been using them in many of my projects. I figure its better to recycle them than throw them away.

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog
have a fantastic day!!!

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today to share my first projects as a designer for Blue Fern Studios.  I'm thrilled to be designing for Blue Fern Studios and I hope that I inspire you with my projects.
Here is a little about me . . .

I have a shabby chic style and have been scrapbooking for 15 years.  I live in the beautiful state of Maryland near our nation's capitol.  I am an Assistant Project Manager for a general contracting company.  Evenings and weekends you can find me in my scrapbook room or outside tending to my flower gardens.  You can find my blog here:

For my first layout I used papers from the Deja Vu Collection; Luminaries, Lustre, Tresors and Petities Cartes.  Love the gorgeous colors and details in the papers.

A few details:
Here I used the Butterfly Damask chipboard which I embossed with white embossing powder.

I cut pieces from the Quartre Foil chipboard and embossed with white embossing power.  I randomly placed pieces on my layout.

Here I have used the chipboard word Special which I inked purple.

A few details:
Tucked being my photo is the new Photo Arches chipboard which I painted with some Shimmerz Inklingz in Sheer Bliss and then embossed with some white embossing powder.

I cut the bottom strip off of the paper and used it as my title and placed in on the Flutter Medley chipboard which I painted with the Shimmerz Inklingz Sheer Bliss and embossed with white embossing powder.  I held my heat gun close to the chipboard to obtain the bubbled texture.  I stamped some of my paper layers with the Vintage Edges stamp.

Here I used the chipboard word love from the Adore, Love, Cherish set which I covered with some red dimensional paint.
Products used:
Love Story Collection:
Amazing Heart
Sweet Song
Calling Cards

The word adorable from the Perfect, Adorable, Special set was inked with pastel pink.

This beautiful chipboard piece is from the Deja Vu Dangles which I also embossed with the shabby pink embossing enamel and added a little metal bird cage.
