Three Tranquility Layouts with Karine

Hi there, Blue Fern Studios fans,

I hope this post finds you well and that summer is arrived in your part of the world. I'm sharing with you today three layouts I did in the past week or so. I used one of the last collection: Tranquility. I think it's my favorite collection ever!

All You Need Is Love

For this layout, I stepped out of my comfort zone. Orange is a scary color for me, but this Keepsakes paper from the Timeless collection is so beautiful, I couldn't resist.

My main chipboard piece is the Circle Vine. I coloured it with brown ink, and then partially embossed it with Imagine Ink Honey and Chili Powder embossing powders. I just love how it turned out.

As for my background work, I used the Serendipity stamp with brown ink and the Garden Frolic stamp with orange ink. I also used some withe and gold texture paste, to add interest to the background. Brown ink drops complete the work.

My title piece is simply coloured with brown ink.

I must say, my layout is also inspired by the beautiful orange flowers, part of the Tranquil Blooms set. I just can't get enough of those gorgeous flowers. I also used some of the Courtship Blooms.

Serenity

My second layout features the Contentment paper from the Tranquility collection. When I got the collection, I wanted to create something special with this paper. It is just gorgeous. I decided on a layout about me, since I rarely use a picture of me.

For the background, I wanted to match what was already in the paper and that reminded me of sand or some rough texture. I used some stone effect medium with a stencil or simply applying it with a palet knife, and while it was still wet, I sprinkled some Imagine Ink Seven Seas and Honey embossing powders and heated it. I LOVE the result.

I did the same thing with my chipboards (the Crackle Bits). Look at this texture!

My title piece comes from the Serenity, Cam, Hushed set.

To mat my photo, I used the Jubilation and the Calling Cards papers, also from the Tranquility collection.

To embellish, I used two large flowers and some pale yellow lilies from the Tranquil Roses and Lilies set.

To add a bit of interest to my background, I partially stamped using the Serendipity Medley and the Making Plans stamps with blue ink, and the Postal Textures stamps with grey ink.

Perky

My last layout features the Stillness paper from the Tranquility collection. I mated my picture with the Serenity paper, also from the Tranquility collection.

I wanted a masculine feel to this one, so I used the Grid Pieces on which I used clear crackle medium and some brown paint to make the cracks stand out more. I love the result. It matches the grid pattern in the paper. I also used a grid stencil with modeling paste and a grid stamp, along with the Texture 1 and Making Plans stamps sets.

Look at the texture on the chipboards pieces.

My title is part of The Optimist Word set. I left it raw.

To embellish everything, I used the Tranquil Blooms (green) and some Courtship Blooms (kraft and dark brown). Aren't those flowers simply amazing?

April inspiration by Pascale

Hello Sweeties

I followed the April sketch for these first layout. I chose to work with papers of the Serendipity collection. Their vintage feel is a perfect match with the photo of Notre-Dame-la-Grande of Poitiers (France).

I started to add a layer of clear gesso to the background and the chipboards. Then I added adding a design with a stencil and 3D gloss gel.

While the design was drying, I colored the Whimsy Flourishes with a brown Distress inkand added a touch of gold wax.

I colored the die-cut sprigs with the same ink, sprayed them with water to activate the ink and sprinkled sage embossing ink while wet. I colored the leaves with the same Distress ink and some Twinkling H2O and added ginger and garnet embossing powder.

I colored the flowers with the H2Os too and I used them to added some color to the background too.

To finish I added some splatter of merlot glitter: I mixed soft matte gel with water and the glitter so I was able to splatter the mixing.

Imagine Ink - Embossing Powders - Ginger, Garnet, Sage
Imagine Ink - Glitter - Merlot

The second layout showcase a photo of the entrance of the castle of the Temple (L'Ile-Bouchard - France).

I started to add a layer of clear gesso to protect the background and the chipboards. I added some texture the wall stamp and the oatmeal embossing powder.

I covered the Grid Pieces chipboards with a graphite paste. When dry, I splattered some color.

I  painted the Spring Branches with some Twinkling H2O  and sprinkled some embossing powders to add some texture.

I colored the flowers with some Twinkling H2O too.

When all the embellishments were glued, I added more wall prints: I used a twinkling H2O with a similar color as the background.

Blue Fern Studios products:

Timeless collection - Song
Serendipity collection - Calling Cards, Chronicle, Fascination
Chipboards - Spring Branche, Grid Pieces
Flowers - Courtship Blooms
Imagine Ink - Embossing powders - Verdant, Sage, Nutmeg
Stamp - Essentiel Textures

-------------------------------------

The third layout showcase another postcard from Rennes (France) where we can see the City Hall Belfry.

I started to add a layer of clear gesso to protect the background and all the chipboards. Then I added a design with a stencil and modeling paste. While the paste was still wet I sprinkled different colors of embossing powder and heat set them.

I covered the Roman Clock with black gesso, then I added some texture with the Texture Circles stamp and the Ginger embossing powder.

I covered the Leafy Page Accents with a white crackle paste. When dry I colored them with a light brown Twinkling H2O.

I colored the roses and the leaves with different Twinkling H2O and I added some ebossing powders on the leaves to add some textures.

I added some colors to the background and some random stamping with the Arcadia Textures stamp. To finish I splattered some glitters mixed with matte gel and water.

Two mixed media layouts with video tutorial by Wilma Voermans

Today I present you the two layouts I made with the new Serendipity collection.
Newly I do not only scrap for keepsakes.
I love scrapbooking , but most of my familypictures are in project life albums.
More pictures and more journaling, and it is my big fun to make my own cards.

But.....I still love scrapbooking on 9x12 and 12x12.
And I will still do familyphotos
But when I see a beautiful picture somewhere online I just scrap it .
No more bad feelings that it is not a keepsake.
I keep them for myself  , after all it is a hobby..

Enough  talking , here is my first layout

I can tell you how and what I did, but if you want to know.....
Here is the start to finish video. Which will show you the whole process.
Chipboard used: Serendipity title and grid pieces .

I hope you have time and fun to watch .

The second layout is also made with the Serendipity collection.
The background paper is called merriment.
Normaly I work many hours on a layout.
Well...working is a big word :)
But I think  add something, drink coffee, add something, etc etc.
This layout ;  I cant believe I did it.....was made in one hour!!
It was difficult, to just add without thinking and not go through my stash for hours.
But I saw the sun going away , and I really wanted to make a bright picture for this post.
I am not comfortable to rush, but today it just worked out.

For both layouts I used the Serendipity words as a title.
All the color you see is done with bright Japanese watercolor.
On the title aswell .

I used it because watercolor dryes quick .
The flourish is the organic vine.
I had fun with this new collection.
Thanks for visiting the blog.
