Fan of the Month Album and Video

We hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday.  It's week 3 with our Blue Fern Fan of the Month, Cheryl Kearns.  Today, we continue our journey through the romantic album she has created using our Spring Parade Collection, and include a video from Cheryl.

These pages are made with the “Remembrance” papers. I have a belly band running down the center of the left page, with a floral cluster and the Large Flourish chipboard. On the opposite page I made a magnetic flap with lace on the border. I have a floral cluster on top of the flap, with the Royal Border chipboard that I embossed with Cotton Candy embossing powder.

I used the “Sunday Best” to make pockets on both pages. I also used the Large Chipboard Flourishes to highlight my flowers.

Cheryl has created a video walk-through of this amazing album, which you can see on her blog HERE.

Thanks so much for joining us today.  We will be back next Wednesday with one final post from Cheryl.

Three Beach themed Layouts with the Seaside Cottage Collection by Keren Tamir

Hi Everyone!!
I was thrilled to receive the new Seaside Cottage collection.
I love the beach and being near the ocean. It's my ideal vacation and I go there any chance I get.
I don't live near the ocean, but whenever I go, I love taking photos on the beach and near the water.
I also love collecting shells and then using them on my projects.
I've created three beach themed layouts below.

Here is the first one:

"Calm"

I used the Embark paper  from the Seaside Cottage collection for the background. I stencilled it with a fish scale looking pattern and sprayed it with blue ink.

The Seaside Frame and Flourish were embossed with Blue Fern Studios Oatmeal embossing powder. Then I gave it some blue touch-ups. The calm title was painted in blue and then covered in clear glittery stickles.

Finally, I added Blue Fern Studios flowers and some seashells I collected during one of my trips.

"By The Sea"

Here is my second layout for this month using the Voyage paper from the Seaside Cottage collection.

I actually cut the background paper in half and  connected the two edges in the middle so the sail boat would be in the center. Then I used some paste and stencils to create some wave like pattern to cover the seam.

I used the large Blue Fern Flourish chipboard to give the photo some wave-like movement. I embossed the flourish with Sea Mist embossing powder.
As a title I used part of the calling cards paper and then added some Seaside Lilies, roses and other Blue Fern Studios blooms. I also added shells of course.

"The end of a perfect day"

This is my third layout this month using the Regalia paper from the Seaside Cottage Collection.

I loved creating texture behind my photo by using cheese cloth  like the second layout above. I also used Blue Fern Studios blooms and shells like in my other layouts

To mat the photo I used a couple of pieces from the calling cards paper. I also used the "Seaside Charms" and "The end of a perfect day" title to embellish the layout. I embossed them with the Sea Mist embossing powder.

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Two projects with Irina Gerschuk

Hi there my dear scrappy friends))))

It's Irina with you today. And I'd like to share with you my two new projects.

First one is a LO. On the photo is my little sister. Well, maybe not so little any more... She is almost 12 years old now and has her own opinion about everything)))) For example not long ago she decided not to photo ever again. Thanks the Universe, Alexandra loves scrapbooking! So after all she agreed to stand in front of my camera for a few minutes)))
And here are some close-ups:
I mixed six different kinds of BFS chippies in this LO. Different designs perfectly match and complement each other! And it was so much fun to play with them)))
I used Blue Fern Frame as a mask here. It looks amazing!
The designs of some of the chippies are so delicate that it was not hard to gave them more dimension by bending them and passing between other embellishments:
It took quite a time to realize how to finish the composition on the top. But after all I saw a swirly heart from the Heart Set and took a little piece from it that matched all the flourishes.
All the BFS chippies I covered with white embossing powder and than added a little bit of bronze emboss powder as a second layer. I was trying to achieve some shabby effect (as an old paint or rust).

And here are the Blue Fern Studios products I used for the LO:

The second project is a soft notebook made from scratch:

I covered the Symphony Border with gold embossing powder to match the color of the fabric:

Well ladies, I really hope that you've had some fun)))) And thanks for stopping!

Wish you all the best!

Mixed-media Canvas with Blue Fern Flourish

Hello dear scrappy friends! I am very honored and excited to design for such an amazing company as Blue Fern Studios. I want to say a huge thank you to Leslie for inviting me to join her fabulous team!

My name is Svetlana Austin.
I am a Russian girl who ended up living in hot South Africa for the last 11 years.
I met my husband while he was doing mission work in Russia.
We have 2 beautiful sons - Ivan and Sebastian. They keep us busy and fill our lives with sunshine (not that we have lack of it in the northern part of our country).
I was always creative. I tried many different crafts but once I was introduced to scrapbooking by my friend, I never stopped. It was almost 9 years ago.
I defiantly love to create layouts about my little boys the most. My aim is to reflect their personalities through my work. I love to make real boy’s layouts full of colors and details. I like to use paint and sprays in my projects, as well as hand-stitching and off course chipboard! :-)
Sometimes I like to make very romantic and feminine layouts about myself or as gifts for my girl-friends or their daughters. It allows me to express the stuff that I personally like flowers and all that kind of frills.
My scrapbooking style is always determined by photographs I use and what kind of story I would like to tell through my project. So if you visit my blog you will find quite a variety our there.

You can visit my blog at Colorful Memories (http://www.colorfulmemories-protea.blogspot.com/)

As my first project for Blue Fern Studios created a very romantic and pretty mixed-media canvas and I used a very fine and intricate Blue fern Flourish on it.

This flourish is so fine but very detailed and beautiful. I used gesso to paint it. Gesso is so nice not only for priming the chipboard but it is perfect for painting it and adding some texture. I also added a layer of pearly shimmer glue on top of the gesso.

Keep well everyone and come back again!
