Maja's February Projects

Hello, Blue Fern Studios Fans and welcome to the blog today :-)

For my today's post I created various projects, so I hope everyone would find something for themselves to get inspired. All of them feature our latest release, the Serendipity collection.
Let's start with the layout:

I first layered two papers in contrasting colours for the background and added some stamping. For the title, I traced the words of the "Always Remember" chipboard with embossing marker and heat-embossed them separately with Heavenly and Ginger embossing powders:

Then I cut out some journaling cards to mat my photo. I tucked some flowers in between then layers,  I also included some loose brick pieces I found with my Shabby Brick Panel (you can also find them in the Extra Bits sets :-)) that I covered with subtle crackle paint.

I created a custom button by attaching an epoxy sticker to the bird image and cutting it out. As for the extra pieces you might get with your chipboard, I decided to keep them and use for some interesting decor element :-) I first removed the pieces from the chipboard, covered them with various eps and but them back together, creating kind of a mosaic/stained glass element (to be able to mount it on 3D dots, I matted the shapes with some paper on the back side):

For the word part, I first embossed the background pieces with Breeze ep and then re-heat it a bit so that particles of Oatmeal ep would stick to it and embossed again to get a shabby chic look:

Always Remember:

Papers: Serendipity: Anticipation, Fascination, Imagination, Chronicle
EP: Ginger, Heavenly, Azure, Seven Seas, Breeze, Oatmeal
Chipboard: Always Remember, Charmed Page Dangles, Shabby Brick Panel/Extra Bits
Stamps: Photography, Forever, Vintage Edges

I used this mosaic/stained glass technique for my next project too, an OTP home decor piece with the beautiful Couture chipboard as the main image:

Just as with the Charmed dangle, I removed the pieces, covered them with Lilac and Mystic Plum eps and but them back into the main piece that I covered with 14 Karat ep.

For the background, I layered some papers, put some lace in between the layers and stamped a dangle from the Deja Vu stamp set, then added some dimensional elements to it:

I also included a flower cluster with a button and metal wing charm in it. Beneath my composition I put the Inspiration chipboard on the passe-partout I splashed with black ink:

Inspiration:

Papers: Serendipity: Inspiration, Merriment, Reminisce
EP: Lilac, Mystic Plum, 14 Karat
Chipboard: Couture, Serendipity Words 1
Stamps: Deja Vu

I also made two cards for this post - here's a wedding card that features the Boston Lattice chipboard piece:

I think it makes a beautiful bakcground for the flower cluster, and it also reminds me of a wedding pergola :) For the background, I layered two sides of the Glee sheet:

I covered the chipboard with white chalk mist and used the extra pieces as propping places to hide 3D dots:

Wedding card:
Papers: Serendipity: Glee
Chipboard: Boston Lattice

It wouldn't make a February post without a Valentine's card ;) Here's one I gave to my own personal hubby:

I used the True Heart stamped image for the main motif: I stamped it on watercolour paper, coloured it with Distress inks, cut out and mounted on layered papers that I also stamped with Journey stamps:

For the sentiment, I used the "love" word from the Chunky Words set, covered it with glue and dipped in the Fool's Gold glitter. Just to make sure it would fall off, I secured it with glossy accents.

Love card:
Papers: Serendipity: Contemplation, Inspiration
Chipboard: Chunky Words
Glitter: Fool's Gold
Stamps: Journey, True Heart

I wish you a lot of creating time - and see you next time!

Three layouts by Marie-Josee

Hello, Blue Fern Studios fans!

I am really happy to be back on the Blue Fern Studios for the third year. It will be very exciting with all the new products and paper collections!

My name is Marie-Josee, I am 40 years old and I live in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, with my husband and my daughter. I have been scrapbooking since 2006. I love to create layouts, but I also create cards, mixed media projects and altered art.

You can see my work on my blog, Les créations de mariemily, or on my Facebook page, also called Les créations de mariemily.

I will now show you the three projects I created with three differents paper collections.

"Everyday Moments" layout

For this layout, I used the Déjà Vu paper collection.

I also used a piece of the Turkish Panel chipboard.

I altered it with Blue Fern Studios embossing powder (color Petal). I applied the embossing ink directly on the chipboard, and I sprinkled the powder here and there without covering the chipboard completely.

I did not alter the Everyday Moments chipboard because the color fitted with the rest of the layout.

"Always Remember" layout

For this layout, I used the Sanctuary paper collection.

I also used a piece of the Roman Clock Set - Large, the biggest one, as the focal point of my layout.

Here's how I altered it.

First, I added brown ink to the chipboard with the pad, leaving some bare spots here and there. Then, I added embossing ink randomly, only in some spots, and I used Blue Fern embossing powder (color Fern) to add touches of color here and there on the chipboard.

Then, I added gesso here and there with a dry brush.

I altered the title with a black ink pad, also leaving some bare spots. Then, using teal spray ink, I added more color to the chipboard.

Circles layout

For this layout, I used a paper from the Ombré Dreams collection and the Jumbo Rings panel. I put the panel on my paper and used a pencil to draw the inside of the circles. Then, I set aside the paper.

I primed the chipboard with gesso, and while it was still wet, I sprayed green ink on it.

While it was drying, I stamped the inside of the circles with the Blue Fern Studios round stamps. Then, I glued my chipboard to the paper and added more spray ink.

Here are some details!

Thanks for looking, and have a great week!

Three projects with the new Montage collection!

Hello folks!

I hope you had a great summer and that you had lots of fun! I traveled for five weeks with my family in Western Canada and Alaska and we had a great time. When I came back, the new Montage collection was waiting for me at home. I was thrilled to find all this new paper to play with, along with new pieces of chipboard.

Here are the three projects I created with this brand new collection.

"Always Remember"

For this layout, I used a picture of my daughter taken at beautiful Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Canada.

I used the brand new Triangle Eclipse chipboard, which I altered with black gesso.

I also used two different papers from the Montage collection, Now & Then and Fairyland. I used various pieces of both sides of the Now & Then paper behind the Triangle Eclipse chipboard. I used the Fairyland paper as a background for my chipboard and picture.

For my title, I used the Always Remember chipboard and the word Destination that I cut with my Silhouette.

"Adore"

For this layout, I used the Society paper as a background. I love it, because it doesn't need many embellishments. A bit of washi tape, modelling paste and mists and voilà! :)

For my title, I used a piece of the Adore, Love, Cherish chipboard set. I also used pieces of the Mini Flourishes chipboard set. All were altered with black gesso.

Angel canvas

For this canvas, I used the beautiful Mercantile paper for my background.

The chipboard I used is the Ornate frame. I altered it with gesso. I used my heat gun to dry the gesso to create texture. I also added a bit of brown mist.
