Projects for May by Lydia Guijt

Hello Paper and Blue Fern Studios friends!

This month our new collection Happy Accident is a big favorite of mine. Love the designs and wonderful colors. To top it all off Blue Ferns Studios also created a Printed Chipboard sheet to compliment the papers. What's not to love.
Let's check out my first layout!

Beauty in Chaos

To show of these wonderful new Happy Accident Chipboard Pieces I created this layout. Whenever I create you should see my table. Yes you guessed it. Chaos. So I found this particular title perfect to make a layout with .

I started with the Halftone and London Chronicle stamps to create some interest on the Fate background page. Because the page already has circles on there I decided to keep up with that theme.

The Circle Group Pieces I embossed with Ebony and the Mini Ring Things with the gorgeous new Plum color. Perfect fit with this new collection. Now it's time to create my layers and started stacking. Having all the interesting parts pop out. The beautiful light green Late Winter Lily matched perfectly. To fine tune the look I added some thread, lace, I die-cut some leaves and some sparkle with the new Pea Soup glitter, some mists, beads and bling.
I hope you like it!

For my second layout I'm using an older collection, Paisley & Vine. Beautiful papers with gorgeous contrasting colors, details and even some abstract patterns.
When we visited Las Vegas I took photos of this statue that I wanted to use. The Metal trees surrounding it in the red is what made the decision to use this collection the winner.

I layered the SplendorPassion and Pathway papers so the red just shows a thin outline.
With the Tattered News Print stamp I stamped randomly around the page. Now with one of my stencils I added some texture with paste.
The Bits of Honeycomb were embossed with Icicle, the Graduated Circle, leftover part from the Swirly Circle and Chesterville Doodle embossed with Speckled Mint with some Peacock Glitter sprinkled over it too. The leaves I've used on the layout are cut out Blooms & Stems stamp prints embossed with Fern.

Now that we have all the building blocks for our layout prepared we can put it together. For some layering under the photo I cut up pieces from the Playing Cards sheet. Using one of the cards as the title. Layering the chipboard pieces and placing the flowers including the Late Winter Lilies to finish of the layout.

Happy Accident Layouts by Kris Berc

Hi, Blue Fern Studios friends and fans! It's Kris here to share my May layouts.  All three feature the new paper collection called Happy Accident.  I do believe this collection will be a strong favorite for a very long time! It is so wonderfully suited for mixed media, but it also stands beautifully on its own.  I hope you will get your hands on this collection, as you are sure to love it!

This is My Life

My first layout features the B side of the Happy Accident - Layering Cards paper.  I prepared it with a layer of clear gesso then a little bit of white gesso in the focal area. I added some drops of pink, peach, and orange sprays to the paper to coordinate with the flowers that I was going to add.  When dry, I used the brick stamp from the Essential Textures stamp set with black ink.

I used Copper Embossing Powder on the This is My Life chipboard piece.

I also used the Copper Embossing Powder on a butterfly from the Royal Monarchs chipboard set.  For some beautiful contrast, I added some Pink Dust Embossing Powder to the butterfly here and there.

I used the same embossing powder treatment on the Blooming Flourishes chipboard pieces that are layered under the photo and flowers.  Above, you can see a coordinating Happy Accident Printed Chipboard Sticker peeking out on either side of the photo and another, "Inspiration", beneath the photo.

Of course, a handful of gorgeous coordinating flowers, including Happy Roses, Spring Lilies, and Harvest Lilies, were used to embellish the layout.

Together is the Best Place to be

This layout features the B side of the Happy Accident - Fluke paper.  I prepared it with a layer of clear gesso and then applied modeling paste through a stencil.  Next I added color with some drops of peach, orange, and yellow sprays. When dry, I added contrast by using black ink with the Tattered Newsprint stamp and a stamp from the Forever set.

I used Stormy Skies embossing powder on the Together is the Best Place to be chipboard piece.  Isn't it a lovely shade of blue?!  Used 14 Karat embossing powder on the Royal Heart Frame chipboard piece that you see peeking out under and around the photo.

I tucked a blue chipboard flower from the Happy Accident Printed Chipboard set into an embellishment cluster.

The flower clusters include beautiful Happy Blooms and Happy Roses.

Sassy

My last layout features the Happy Accident - Chance paper.  I prepared the paper with a layer of clear gesso followed by modeling paste through a stencil.  Next, I added color with drops of purple, pink, black, and white sprays.  When dry, I stamped using the Tattered Harlequin stamp as well one of the Essential Textures stamps using black ink.

I embossed the Swirly Circle chipboard piece with Plum embossing powder.  I did the same on the Sassy chipboard piece, but I also added some Rusty Rose embossing powder on it here and there.  I love the beautiful effect!

Above and below, you can also see some of the Happy Accident Printed Chipboard stickers.

The below "Passion" chipboard sticker is also from the Happy Accident Printed Chipboard set.

My flower clusters include Happy Blooms and Happy Roses.

Have you seen Happy Accident?

Have you seen the amazing layouts our Creative Team has been sharing so far this month?  We hope so, and you will be seeing a lot more from our Team using the new Happy Accident Collection.  This collection is another in our Artisan Line.  This collection of paper is what you might refer to as the "B" side, or back side of a collection.  It's not too busy, leaves you lots of room to create, but has tons of gorgeousness.  Nothing boring here. See for yourself:

That's it for today.  Enjoy your Friday!

May Inspirations by Catherine Giguère

Hello Blue Fern Studios Fans!
Here's my turn to share new projects with you.
I  had the chance to play with the new paper collection Happy Accident and I just ADORE it. Those papers are perfect for Mixedmedia.

«Perfect»

For my first layout, I used the gorgeous paper Fate from the Happy Accident collection. I put a thin coat of clear gesso on my paper and modeling paste through a circles stencil to add texture. Then, when the modeling paste was dry, I did the same process with a triangles stencil.

I put drops of mint, yellow and orange inks on the modeling paste to make it fit my paper. I used  Essential Textures, Tattered Newsprint and Mémoire Collages stamps with black ink to add contrast.

I glued Pea Soup BFS Glitter on my Splattered Circles and my Graduated Circles chipboards with medium gel. Then, I embossed the Garden Lattice Bits with Sage BFS Embossing Powder and glued some Pea Glitters on them. I embossed my title with Honey BFS Embossing Powder to make it stand out.

«Happiness»

For this layout, I used the beautiful paper Autumn Biography from the Mémoires collection. I did a textured background with modeling paste and three different stencils; a flourishes one at first and then, two different size of words. I put drops of fuschia and pink inks and I sprayed water on it.

I used brown ink with Crackled Textures and Serendpity Medley stamps to add more texture on my background. I embossed the Shabby Brick Bits chipboards with Coral BFS Embossing Powder.

I embossed my title Happiness from the Good Vibes chipboards set with Garnet BFS Embossing Powder to make it match.

«Memories Captured»

For my last layout Memories Captured, I choose Incident paper from the Happy Accident collection. I used a square and then a dots stencil to put modeling paste on it. I add yellow inks on my background to make contrast with the blue paper.

I used Making Plans and Grungy Grid stamps with brown ink to add contrast. I embossed two chipboards from the Splattered Circles set with Stormy Skies BFS embossing Powder.

I embossed my title Memories Captured with Honey BFS embossing Powder to make it fit my background.

Spring Garden Collection with our Fan of the Month

Hello Blue Fern fans!  Our Blue Fern Fan of the Month is the amazing Cheryl Kearns.  We introduced her last week.  If you missed that post, you can see it HERE.  We revealed the gorgeous album Cheryl created using the Spring Parade paper collection, along with lots of other Blue Fern products.  Today, Cheryl will take us further inside the album.

I used both the “Marketplace” and “May Vignette” papers. I have pockets with lace and pearls along the top. I used the Classic Corner chipboard on the top of each page, which I embossed with Iris embossing powder.

Here I made diagonal pockets using the “Joyful” papers. My pages are made with the “Marketplace” papers. I used white Venice lace along the edge of each page, with mulberry roses on top. I also placed a cluster of flowers in the center of each pocket. I always make three photo mats for each page.

Here I made pockets that mirror each other using “Susie’s Garden” papers. I have white lace with purple ribbon running down the side of each pocket, as well as a cluster of flowers and a white chiffon butterfly. I used the Rose Borders chipboard, which I embossed with Plum embossing powder. I cut it in half and place half on each page.

Cheryl will be back next Wednesday with more pages from her album, and a video!
Have a great day, everyone.
