June colours with Jelissa

Hello friends! Thank you for dropping by :)

Today I'm in to share three projects I created for Blue Fern Studios, featuring the new paper collection Ombre Dreams and some fantastic chipboard pieces.

"Count the Ways"

The first is a layout I made of my big boy, with papers from Ombre Dreams collection.  The title came from one of the most popular love poems around - Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Browning but I used it here to describe my love for my sweet and wonderful child.

Some close ups:

A frame from the Memory Frame set which I misted green.

Counting the ways with the number grid chipboard panel, which I covered with black EP.

A piece of Layering Stem. Gosh, I love these! Just perfect for tucking into any little corner of my floral cluster.

A piece from Fall Foliage, also misted with green and gesso brushed on randomly.

Blue Fern products used:

Ginger's Dream
Shannon's Dream
Number Grid - Large
Memory Frame Set
Layering Stems
Fall Foliage

"Follow Your Bliss"

My second project is a simple little card. In fact, I made a card instead of my usual LO because I wanted to use the chipboards as the main features. I layered sheets from the Ombre Dreams collection and layered water colours in pastel tones, careful not to hide the lovely details the papers have.

Some close-ups:

The Twilight Garden Frame. What a lovely piece! I used gold paint on the lamp and added a layer of crackle. For the rest of the frame, I coloured with gelatos.

I used "Follow your Bliss" word as my card sentiment, which I covered with some bronze embossing powder.

Blue Fern products used:

Leslie's Dream
Twilight Garden Frame
Follow Your Bliss

"Blue Skies"

My third project is a layout I created for this month's sketch challenge. If you havn't seen it, do take a look because Michelle has come up with another fabulous sketch. And to win a pack of gorgeous Blue Fern products, just create a project based on the sketch and link it up. It's that easy!

Here is the sketch again:

And my take on it:

I used "Susan's Dream" for my background. It has the most calming tones of blues and greens, with a tinge of orange which I have used to highlight certain elements of the page. I like to use a lot of mediums and thinner papers tend to warp with so much fluid sitting on it. But the BFS papers are so much heavier (and sturdier), my LO remained pretty much the same shape even when I was adding quite a fair bit of water to bleed the colours. If you love playing with mediums like me, you'll find the quality of BFS papers just perfect.

A cut-out phrase from "Dream Cards". There are several elements that you can fussy cut out from this page and layer them on your project. I also used a gear and bird chipboards.

Another phrase from "Dream Cards" layered on top of the Mini Ring Things chippie.

The Treasured floral frame chippie. Love the delicate vines and flowers on this piece!

Blue Fern products used:

Susan's Dream
Treasure Floral Frame
Mini Ring Things
Widget Works
Descano Gardens (bird)
Layering Stems

And here's a start to finish video I put together to show you how I did the background, as well as the various techniques I used to alter the chipboards. Sit back and enjoy the show, and do remember to play along with our sketch challenge this month!

That's all for today. Do check back at our blog again for more inspiration from the rest of the fabulous Blue Fern girls!

love,
Jelissa

3 Times Color and media

Hi, Olga here! I love Chipboards in mixed Media. You can use them in many ways.  I like to use them as main elements. Here I use  Memory frames, This is my Life and "CLICK" from Picture Perfect, as black accents. And Blue fern Bits  as red accents. WIth multicoulor background i have nice looking canvas .

This is my life i covered with UTEE and get this amazing gloss effect!!

If you like colors all around You page this one should interest you . I use Circle Groups  first as mask for my background, then as element of my composition. I use also "leftovers" from this chipboard.  I added some Widgetworks and Boys will be Boys element.

If you are curious how exactly i did it i made Step by Step Video with this boyish work

And again chipboard as accents. I had amazing vintage style photos of Young Lady with red accent. I Made vintage style work with red shiny chipboard accents.  I use Winter Page Dangles and Heart set. To add title to my work i use Delightful from  The Optimist Word Set

Two layouts and a journal book by Maja

Hi! Maja here today =) So happy to be here with my first post.

I´m Maja Stokk from Sweden. I´m a mother of five children, married and teacher with passion for mathematics. I have been in to scrapbooking since 2008 and love it! My style is "flowery" a bit romantic or grungy. I also use lots of mixed Media on my projects. So happy to be a part of this team!

I´m starting this new year with a new Art Journal book.

For this  journal book I have used the "Blue Fern Bits" which I love. It´s fun to create textures with them. I just glued them on the book and went over it with some modelling paste and lots of different colors of mist and ended up using a stamp here and there. Some flowers, bling and a ribbon. ready =).

Next comes two layouts I made. The first one on my teenage son who´s not that easy to catch with the camera.

I have cut out cicles from the BFS chipbord "Circle Group Panel". Painted it with black gesso and then it had dried I went over it with some white gesso and ended up using some enamel on the top. Other chipbord used on this layout are "All Natural Set", "Directions", "Widget Works" and "Picture Perfect".

Also on this layout I have used the BFS chipboards "Picture Perfect" and "Widget Works" and I  used bits of the "Chickenwirw Panel".

That all from me this time!
See you =)

Bring on the Scraps! {with Erin Blegen}

Good morning! Erin Blegen here with you today with three "scrappy" projects. And I mean scrappy...literally. Each of my projects were made of scraps of some sort- and who doesn't like cleaning up their desk a little while creating at the same time?!

First up, a mini album:

"The Best"
Every paper in this album (including the pages) are scraps. I guess you could call this a "scrap album" for sure! ;)

I even used chipboard "scraps" throughout this album- bits and pieces and leftovers of sorts...
 ...punched out bits from panels...

Products Used:

(L-R: Marrakesh Panel, All Natural Set, Village Sign Post, Tuscan Window, Vintage Locks, Heart Set, Leafy Page Accents, Best Day Ever, Small Garden Daisies)

Next, I have a layout:

"Six"
My oldest recently turned six and I took this sweet photo of him on his birthday :)
Another project inspired by scraps, I again added in some chipboard scraps as well...

One of the Tuscan Window shutters was cut in half and used to add texture to the left and right of my photo.

The gears looked great when I applied some molten metal embossing powder!

Products Used:

Tuscan Window

Widgetworks

Lastly, I have a tag to share:

"I Adore You"
Chipboard adds that "something extra" to my tags- and I love them for it! More scraps, some of the leftovers from my mini album :)

I again used some fabulous molten metal embossing powder to bring this Doodle Corner to life!

...and some gold embossing powder to create this effect on the Vintage Keys piece :)

Products Used:

Doodle Corners

Vintage Keys

Whew! Are you still with me?!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Be sure to check out this month's Sketch Challenge- there's still some time left to enter!
