December Inspiration with Jelissa

Hello friends!

Can you imagine, Christmas is less than 4 weeks away? I'm totally excited, and the cool weather has definitely put me in a festive mood.

Today, I'm up on the blog to share my creations for December, using the fabulous Vintage Christmas collection. While there are so many beautiful festive images for the season in this collection, there are also more generic papers that can be used for other themes.

For my first share, I've made a page of my boys based on the sweet December sketch by Michelle:

My background was mostly hidden by the clusters with little bits peeking out, so that the images on the paper do not get covered up. This time, I've also kept my layering to a minimum so that more attention can be given to the details in the embellishments.

Some close-ups:

One of the pieces from Clip Frames which I altered using Blue Fern Studios' own embossing powder. Love it that other than the red, it has a gorgeous gold tint to it. Lots of stamping in the background too to bring out a botanical feel.

Some fussy cut flowers which I tucked behind my photo. It has Christmas bits in it with the holly, but who would have know how nicely it blends in here!

A Deja Vu Tweets chippie which I altered with gold ink and painted with Imagine Ink in Persimmon.

Blue Fern Studios products used:
Vintage Christmas collection - Auld Lang Syne, Wonderland
Chipboards - Deja Vu Tweets Chippie, Clip Frames
Embossing Powder - Poinsettia
Mist - Persimmon

My second project and video tutorial is a Christmas mini album. When I first saw the Vintage Christmas papers, there were so many beautiful images I could cut out and use for an album so I knew I had to make one. As you all probably know by now, I'm not a Christmas project person with the exception of cards so this is really quite a first for me! Since the papers themselves are so gorgeous, I had to leave them as they are and build up smaller layers, so my tutorial focused more on playing with the chipboards.

More close-ups:

I decided to add Liquid Pearls to my Gingerbread House after the video was made.

And more close-ups:

And finally... here's the video. Have fun watching!

Vintage Christmas collection - all papers
Chipboards - Winter Trees, Shabby Flakes, Gingerbread House, Word Ornaments, Christmas Ornaments, Framed Winter Words
Embossing Powder - Lucky, Poinsettia
Glitter - Pyrite

That's all I have for today. Happy crafting!

Vintage Christmas With Debbie

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today sharing 3 layouts I created with the new Vintage Christmas paper collection!  This is such a beautiful paper collection.

My first layout features the Deck The Halls paper.  Beautiful hues of reds and pinks! I layered underneath my photo with the Noel paper.

I used 4 different chipboard pieces here, Blooming Curls, Royal Border, Classic Ornament and Twinkle from the Winter Titles.  I misted the Royal Border and Classic Ornament with the Imagine Ink Cotton Candy Mist and added some micro beads.  I painted my title dark red and added some of the Petal Embossing Powder.

When using the Blooming Curls chipboard, I cut it apart and used it in three different places on my layout.  I also cut the Classic Ornament piece in half and used in on the top and bottom of my photo.

Another piece from the Blooming Curls shown here.

My next layout features Auld Lang Syne, Noel and Wonderland papers.  I primed my background with some clear gesso and did some random masking.  Then I added some Imagine Ink Cotton Candy Mist.

Love this old photo of my grandfather !  I cut apart the Holiday Frame chipboard and added a piece to the bottom of the photo that I misted with the Imagine Ink Winter Mint and Jingle Bells mist and then added some micro beads.

Tucked beneath the pink rose is another piece from the Holiday Frame chipboard.

Here I used a piece from the Damask Panel, misted with Imagine Ink Winter Mint and Jingle Bells.

Love the details in the Winter Sleigh chipboard.  I covered it with gesso and then added some Pyrite Glitter.

My final layout was created using the  November sketch.
I used the Auld Lang Syne, Noel and Wonderland papers.  After adding some masking to the background, I misted with the Persimmon and Jingle Bells Imagine Ink Mists

My title Magical is from the Winter Titles.  I painted it white and then randomly sprinkled it with Pyrite Glitter.

Pieces of the Berry Stems chipboard are placed with my flower clusters.  I pained the stems brown and added  Phoenix Glitter.

On each side of my photo I used The Holiday Vine Chipboard which I painted brown and added Phoenix, Pyrtie and Fern Glitter.

I hope you have enjoyed my layouts.  Don't forget that you still have time to enter our November Sketch Challenge.  You can find all of the details here.

November Projects by Melinda Thompson

Hello Blue Fern Studio Fans!

I am here with you again today to share you my 3 projects I created this month.  I had so much fun using 3 different lines of paper and lots of gorgeous chipboard and the new range of Imagine Ink Mist!

My 1st project I used papers from the Frolic Collection..Gosh I could have kept on creating with this one...it is just devine.

I used the large Grunge Frame and cut it up and layered the strips on the base of my paper. I have painted them with Gesso to begin with then I have used Imagine Ink Mist in Sky and Winter Mint.
For my "arch" down the bottom of my layout all I used here was an off cut of one of the circle frame chipboard and used the same process but highlighted it with Imagine Ink Mist in Jingle Bells.

"XOXO"

I just adored the XOXO chipboard.  Again I painted it in Gesso first and then used some watered down paint to colour it.

My 2nd project I used the paper collection Paisley and Vine. Again such stunning and bright colours in this paper range.

Here I have used the Grid Pieces cut up randomly and layered over the base of my layout as well as the Deja Vu Luminaires Chippies and the word Love from the Adore, Love, Cherish word set. My chipboard pieces are covered in Gesso first and then painted on with some watered down paint.

"Love"

And lastly my 3rd project I used the beautiful Autumn Anthology papers.
After I created the texture on my background which included chipboard pieces from the Techno Squares set, I used the Imagine Ink Mist in Sky and randomly sprayed the background moving it around with some added water.

"Fun"

I loved using the Doily Bunting chipboard in this layout. I covered it in Gesso first and them inked the edges and then blended it with the Imagine Ink Mist in Sky.

The title "Fun" came from the word set "Crazy Silly Fun" and the frame around the photo is part of the Clip Frame collection.

Thank you very much for stopping by today.
Happy Crafting!

Autumn Anthology With Debbie

Hi everyone!  Debbie back again, to share two layouts I created
with the Autumn Anthology Collection.

Lots of paper layering and  fussy cutting on this layout, showcasing a picture of my children from years ago.  I used several papers from the Autumn Anthology collection:  Gazebo, Newsworthy, LeBallon, Cottage and Calling Cards.

Here are a few closeup of the chipboard I used:
Ironwork Edges sprayed with Imagine Ink Mist Sky and dabbed with some dark blue ink.

Willow Wild Flower sprayed with Imagine Ink Mist Persimmon and dabbed with some dark brown ink.

Layering Stems sprayed with Imagine Ink Mist Persimmon.

And for my title Yesterday from Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday sprayed with Imagine Ink Mist Sky and dabbed with some dark blue ink.

My next layout was created using the October sketch using papers from the Autumn Anthology Collection.
I used Calling Cards, Gazebo and LeBallon papers on my layout.

Lots of layering under my photo along with a Double Swirl Small chipboard piece which I sprayed with Imagine Ink Mist Sky.  I also used the Floral Lattice Bits chipboard which I painted apricot.

The Always and Forever chipboard was sprayed with the Imagine Ink Mist in Sky.

A lovely cluster of flowers and another view of the Floral Lattice Bits Chipboard.

I hope I have inspired you with my layouts!  Autumn Anthology is a beautiful collection of papers.
