Love Story Layouts

Hey crafty friends! I'm so excited to share with you the layouts I created with the Love Story collection. For my first layout I decided to use the Marrakesh panel chipboard and create a collage of photos.

It is so striking the page hardly needs anymore embellishments. But I couldn't help myself and just had to ass a few more pieces cut from another beautiful Love Story paper.

Check out the step by step video tutorial to see the entire process and create it for your own photos!

BFS supplies used:
Papers: Love Story collection: Twenty One, True harmony
Chipboard: Marrakesh Panel, This Moment title

My second layout has a story behind it. at first glance it's a beautiful scene with flowers in a garden and a teenager boy sits among them. however when you look closely you see he's kind of mad and the title explains why...

I colored all the chipboard flowers with aquarelle pencils and a water brush. Then I sprayed a cheese cloth and used it to create the grass. I added all the flowers and the photo of my son. The title was sprayed with the sprays inks as well.

BFS supplies used:
Papers: Love Story collection: The Grand Ball
Chipboard: Garden Daisies, Pretty Weeds, Layering Stems

Have fun creating!

March Projects using Love Story by Melinda Thompson

Hi Everyone :)

Another new month so another lot of new projects which I am happy to share with you all!
This month I focused on the Love Story Collection papers.  Love how you can achieve so many looks from the one collection of papers.

Here are my projects. For this layout of our adorable puppy, I have used papers from the Love Story Collection - The Grand Ball, Amazing Heart and Calling Cards.  My chipboard has been treated with Gesso first and highlighted with inks, mists and paints. I just kept adding until I was happy with the effect.

 "Sweet Girl"

I love to layer up my chipboard as well to give lots of depth and texture to my project.  And using negative bits from the packs are awesome if you want to create a confetti look.

Paper Collection: Love Story
Chipboard: Garden Daisies - Large, Negatives from the Broken Rings set, Daisies Collage, Splattered Circles

My second project I was inspired by the richness of the papers in the Love Story Collection.  The photo in this layout is of my late Grandmother who has been gone 30 years last year.  I was only a 4 years old when she passed away and don't have any memories of her. I love that this photo is of her in her much loved rose garden and I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous floral pieces of chipboard to use in this layout.

 "Forever in our Hearts"

The chipboard pieces are simply painted in some gold acrylic paint and then I randomly added some colour in different places for extra interest.

Paper Collection: Love Story
Chipboard Collection: Dresden Corsage, Gingers Poppies, Eclectic Hearts,

Thanks so much for stopping by today...happy crafting :)

So Much Gratitude and Thanks- by Keren Tamir

Hello Blue Fern Studio Friends
This post is very meaningful to me as its all about Gratitude and Thanks.
There are so many things I'm thankful for that If I list them here I won't have enough space to display my creations this month.

All three of my projects this month were created as a gift for three different people whom I love very much and are very special to me.
I'm Thankful and Grateful that I have them in my life!!!

The first project is a layout created for the parents of this precious baby who has been such a miracle of life.

"Sweet Dreams"

When I asked the parents to give me the color scheme of this baby's nursery they described these colours above which are exactly the colours of some of the papers from the Blue Fern Garden collection. I was then so happy to fussy cut, frames, bows and other images from those papers.

I framed the photo in one of the Ever After frames. I simply primed it with Gesso and then painted it using Shimmerz sky blue paint.

I  treated the Frilly Heart behind the photo with the same gesso and paint to match the Blue Fern Garden Papers.

Finally the title was inked in blue fluid chalk ink.

The next two projects are very near and dear to my heart. I created them for two very special people in my life. Both these people asked me to create Gratitude Journals for them and I thought it would be great to include some Blue Fern Studio Chipboard on the front cover.

"The Book of Gratitude"

I bought 2 hard cover journals at the dollar store. Then, using some of the Blue Fern Garden papers I covered both front and back. To blend the paper seam to the cover's background I used light moulding paste and a brick stencil.

I used the tree from the Descanso Garden Set, a little bird and one of the Veranda cages. I have a tutorial below describing how I created the tree. The bird was painted in silks glaze paint and the bird cage in brown fluid chalk ink.

Here is the tutorial on how I created the texture on this tree:

"The Book of Gratitude"

This is the second book of gratitude I created. Its a little different than the other one but still unique on its own.

I used a different set of Blue Fern Garden papers to cover this journal. Then, I also covered the seams with some stencilled moulding paste. This time I used a different stencil to mimic the pattern on the Blue Fern Garden paper.

I used two different shades of Silks glaze paint to cover all the different flowers on the cover as well as the mini butterfly.
The Lattice fence was roughly covered with gesso leaving parts unpainted.

I try to find things to be thankful and grateful each and every day.
I hope you sit back today and find something to be thankful for.

Thanks so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios Blog

Have a wonderful day!!!

Sharing a layout and a card.

We are coming to a close of 2013 in just a couple of months. I have enjoyed my last year working with all of the beautiful Blue Fern Studios chip board and look forward to a new year with new designs!! In the mean time, check here often as new designs are added to the inventory often!!
For my first project I did a 12x12 layout. I had to create a sweet layout to match the wonderful photo of my daughter and her kitty. He really is Sweet As Honey.

I hope you save the innards of your chip board because they add a wonderful design element to your projects!! And if not, you can always purchase a pack of the various pieces where you find Blue Fern Studios chip board. I used gesso as a base, then used a crackle paint on top, then finished it with a glaze medium after the crackle dried.

I base coated all of my chip board peices with gesso and used 2 colors of glaze medium to color  the pieces.  After they were dry, I inked the outer edges slightly for dimension.

I used a couple of colors of glaze medium on the flower chip board and used a pearl pen to add the stamen in the middle.

 Blue Fern Bits
Graduated Circles
 Large Garden daisies
 Small Garden Daisies
 The Latest Buzz

For my next project, I created a card. Sometimes simplicity brings out the beauty in a chip board piece. I didn't want the beauty of the bicycle shape to get lost, so I made it the star of the card.

All I did was heat embossed it using a fine black embossing powder. I used layers of paper to frame the piece. This card can be used for many occasions.
