Merry Christmas Finn by Vija Anton

Hello Blue Fern fans.  Today we post the final layout from our December Blue Fern Fan of the Month, Vija Anton.  We have fallen in love with each of her unique projects this month, and can't wait for you to see this one.  Vija, it has been such a joy to have you create with us this month.  You have given us and our readers some awesome inspiration, and we were able to give you some mojo to begin creating again!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

This is my last layout as Blue Fern's Fan of the month. Thank you Blue Fern Studios for giving me this opportunity to work with your beautiful products. This layout features a facebook friend's dog, Finn. I will be sending her this layout so I hope she likes it!

For the background I used the Magical paper and used the Wonderland and Homegrown papers for some fussy cutting. I love how these two collections compliment each other so well.

I have created dimension on my page by layering the elements. A double layer of foam tape under the cut out frame helps it sit nice and flat on top of the chipboard and that gorgeous lace.

I added touches of glitter here and there to give my layout a real Christmasy feel.
For me Christmas = glitter and sparkle!!!!

Blue Fern products used were:
Vintage Christmas papers: Magical and Wonderland
Homespun papers: Homegrown
Vintage Christmas printed chipboard
Chipboard: Holiday Vine and Folkart Frame
Glitter: Vintage gold and Christmas pear
Embossing Powder: Sea mist and pearl
Seedlings: Wintergreen
Lace: 9c
Stamp: Jingle bells
Christmas blooms

Sparkle by Vija

Okay blog readers, I hope you are ready for this.  Vija Anton, our Blue Fern Fan of the Month, has created a layout that is sweet, adorable, cuddly, cute, and any other charming words that you can think of.  No matter how frazzled you may be as you prepare for the holidays, this layout is sure to warm your heart just a little and bring a smile to your face.  She even decorated the little Christmas tree!

Here it is her layout and what Vija has to say about it:

I love doing layouts using pictures of dogs, mine or friends, and prefer to use regular collections rather than dog specific papers as I feel it gives me more scope to incorporate some mixed media techniques. This layout features a cute little Bichon Frise named Jewel, who belongs to my best friend on Instagram.

For the background, I used the Homespun paper as a frame and cut around the flower corner to slip the Vintage Christmas paper and die cuts in behind it. I also did a little bit of stencil work on this one to emphasise the lacy pattern on the patterned paper.

I used texture paste on the Snowflake frame and sprinkled it with seedlings and glitter and the title was finished with more glitter using Silver Bells embossing powder. The gorgeous lace helps soften the layout and adds some further texture. I also 'decorated' the Christmas tree with seedlings. This layout is all about 'SPARKLE'!!

The Blue Fern Products used were:

Vintage Christmas Wonderland paper
Homespun Homestead paper

Chipboard:

Holiday Album

As this month comes to an end (how is that possible?), we bring you the final project from our November Fan of the Month, Dorota Kopec.  You're in for a real treat today!

Dorota began with a 16cm x 21cm album.  The album cover is white canvas and their are 6 pages inside.  She used paper from the Vintage Christmas I and Vintage Christmas II collections, along with lots of winter/holiday chipboard.

Take a look at the gorgeous cover Dorita created.  The title is from the Cozy Christmas 5-piece chipboard set, and the beautiful piece going down the left side of the cover is the Snow Medley chipboard piece.  The dainty flowers used on the cover are the Christmas Blooms.

The pages in the album are just waiting for holiday photos to be added.  The hip raindeer in the top left corner is from the 5-piece Hipster Christmas chipboard set.

These collections are filled with sweet vintage images and small cards for all of us who love fussy-cutting.

The next 2-page spread in Dorota's album features layers of Vintage Christmas I and II for such an elegant look.  The sweet chipboard piece on the right side is the gorgeous Holidays Bright chipboard piece.

Don't you just love the adorable angel that adorns this page?
It's from the Little Angels and there are 4 angels in the set.

Loads of holiday charm can be seen on these two pages with images of candy canes, peppermints, bells, a village scene, vintage florals and mistletoe.  Everything you need for a true holiday feeling!

The chipboard pieces on these 2 pages (a section of Holidays Bright and the Winter Sleigh), along with all the chipboard in the album, have been covered with a combination of Blue Fern embossing powder and glitter, which gives it a frosty look.

I'm not sure if Dorota is keeping this album for herself or passing it on to someone else, but it is going to be beautiful reminder of this Holiday season.

We hope you will join us in thanking Dorota for sharing her album with us, along with all her projects this month using the Vintage Christmas collections.

Hello December

Hello Blue Fern Fans.  I case you haven't noticed, December is not far away!  We are excited to share with you today another project from Dorota Kopec, our November Fan of the Month.  For this beautiful layout, Dorota has chosen the Wonderland paper from our Vintage Christmas collection as the background.  The more I look at it, the more I see.  This layout is the definition of eclectic - not following one system, but selecting and using what are considered the best elements of all systems.

The chipboard pieces used are the Stars & Berries Frame which is layered beneath the photo.
Peeking out from the floral clusters you can see holly from the Holly Sprigs set.
And lastly, the dangling snowflake is from the 3-piece set of Winter Page Dangles.

This close-up shows just what I'm talking about when I say her layout is eclectic.  Here is a gorgeous vintage photo, and the paper certainly has a vintage feel.  But she has used a frame that would be considered modern, and stenciled numbers on the background.  And there is nothing vintage about the color combination, but it all combines for a cohesive look.

In the corner, Dorota has put together a little vignette by cutting the Santa and his sleigh image from the Holiday Cards paper (Vintage Christmas II) and adding it to the design that is already on the paper.  How cute is that?

Dorota will have one more project for us this month, so be sure to check back.

A Little Greeting

Today's blog post features our November Fan of the Month, Dorota.  Once again, she is thinking ahead to Christmas with this pair of elegant cards.  What a beautiful way to send someone a holiday greeting,
and a piece of art, at the same time!

This card has been created by layering several designs from the Vintage Christmas Collection.  The title, A Joyful Christmas, was cut from the Holiday Cards paper which can be found in the Vintage Christmas II Collection.
The chipboard, which has been painted and glittered, is the Snow Medley.
Flowers from Christmas Blooms finish off the card.

This sweet card has layers of goodness from the Vintage Christmas Collection, including the title, which was cut from the Greeting Cards paper.  The little Santa hat is from the Cozy Christmas chipboard set.  Once again, Dorota has added flowers from the Christmas Blooms.

Be sure to check back next Wednesday when Dorota will share a stunning Christmas album.
You won't want to miss it!

Meet our November Blue Fern Fan of the month.

This month we are delighted to welcome the talented Dorota Kopec as our Blue Fern Fan of the Month.  You are going to love seeing what she has created for us using the Blue Fern Vintage Christmas collections.  Her style + Blue Fern's style, are a perfect match!   We will turn it over to Dorota now:

Hello.  My name is Dorota and I come from Poland.  I became interested in scrapbooking 10 years ago and have been creating ever since.  Scrapbooking is my great hobby and my job.  I love making cards, albums and other art objects.  Whatever I make it will always be layered and detailed.

I am drawn to vintage, shabby chic styled crafts which I love to create.  I also appreciate the talent of mixed media artists and love the variety of styles and textures that it produces.  I am always inspired to learn and try new techniques in both teaching and my crafts.  I have been teaching at scrapbooking workshops for the past several years.

My first project this month is a set of 2 Christmas bulbs.  I have used paper from the Vintage Christmas Collections for the background, and cut pieces from the paper for accents.

For this bulb, I painted a the Blue Fern Holly Frame chipboard piece and added it to the ornament.

For the second ornament, I added the sweet pair of mittens from the Cozy Christmas chipboard collection.  They are painted and covered in glitter.

Blue Fern Christmas Blooms were added to each ornament.

Pop and Grandma's House by Lisa Landry

The gorgeous Blue Fern Studios new Homespun paper collection has such a nice nostalgic feel.  The Homestead page immediately brought back wonderful memories of going to pop & Grandma's House.

I usually have a photo as the focal point on my layouts, but I did something I've never done before and here is what I came up with.

There are so many wonderful cards on the Calling Cards page. I went all out, but hey, they fit the theme of my layout - Grandma's fabulous cooking!   The center focal area is a 6x6 piece from the backside of the page Picturesque.  I made this into a pocket using foam tape on three sides and then placed it in the center of the page.  I decorated it using cut outs from the Calling Cards page and some cute flowers.

Blue Fern's Scalloped Border chipboard is heat embossed with their lovely new color GoldilocksTo coordinate with the layout, I lightly brushed it with white gesso and added some mini pink and mint roses.

Next I printed (using a piece from the page Craftysome memories I have as a very young child going to Pop & Grandma's.  My journaled card fits perfectly inside the pocket.  I punched & inked the edge for femininity.  A small wooden clothes pin is decorated with words from the Calling Cards page and some gold nail heads.

Here is the front of my journaled card.  You can read the journaling on my blog HERE

On the back of the card I adhered a laminated photo of Pop & Grandma Romero celebrating their 50th Anniversary.  This is exactly how I remember them.  Notice that the backside of the clothes pin has the rest of the sentiment on it.

I'm speechless when it comes to the stunning wedding lace from Blue Fern.  I just HAD to use it on this page!  After all, not only does it look super fabulous, but it significantly resembles Pop & Grandma's Golden Anniversary  How perfect is that?

Now it's time for my most favorite part of the decorating process....creating beautiful flower clusters.  I used Blue Fern's Christmas Blooms and they are gorgeous. The Blue Fern Seedlings I used inside some of the flowers look fantastic don't they?

The backside of Blue Fern's Timeless collection page Maçonnerie was used to die cut the piney leaves.  I just LOVE the house printed on this Homestead page!

Blue Fern Products used:

Homespun paper collection  Homestead (for main layout page)
Picturesque (backside for pocket)

Maçonnerie (backside for piney leaf die cuts)

This has been one of the most enjoyable layouts to create.  I so appreciate you stopping by to take a look.  I'll be back for my final layout next Wednesday and hope you'll drop by.
Have a wonderful week!
