A Sad Farewell

This is one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever had to write in terms of BFS, but it's come to a point where I must close the business.

Many of you know that my son was critically wounded in the war in Afghanistan.   Because he has had half of his brain removed, I have been his caregiver for the last 10 years. 6 years ago we were in a good place and I figured things were well enough for me to start Blue Fern Studios. Unfortunately things changed a few years ago when my son had brain surgery that ended up with many complications that continue to this day. Due to this, I have found it harder and harder to keep up with the day to day operations of running a business. My son has to be my main focus and although it was a very tough decision to make - I have decided to close Blue Fern Studios.

I want to thank everyone for their patronage through the years. It had been a long time dream to be a wholesaler in this industry and you ALL helped me to make it a success! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

I also want to give a huge shout out to Valerie Serfozo (my right hand woman in all ways) and Michele Singh (our talented product designer). None of this would have been possible without the two of you!

I also want to thank ALL of our current and past designers.  You all are so talented and helped us grow immensely through the years.  We wouldn't be here without all of you!

  1. Oh Leslie........there are just no words. BFS was an OUTSTANDING company with beautiful products! OMG! But, I fully understand that your son must be first. Prayers for you on your journey with your son. He is beyond blessed to have you as his mother. I understand somewhat because I am the sole caregiver for my husband who has an inherited brain condition that has let dementia invade our lives. Bless you and I have to say how very very much I will miss BFS. But, you must at all costs put family first. Bless you and I will prayer for you and your son during these trying times.

  3. Dear Leslie,

God bless you as you care for your son. It is beyond difficult to imagine the extraordinary determination necessary to make Blue Fern Studios the huge success that it has become....and especially under these circumstances.
The fact that your son was willing to risk so much to serve our country speaks highly of the kind of mom you have been and obviously still are. I am so very heartbroken for you and your son and other family members. Thank you both for your service to our country.

Blue Fern Studios designs have been a class act from the very beginning, and I am grateful to Michelle Singh for her amazing talent. Valerie Serfozo was a kind and helpful guide when I was the BFS Fan of the month.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you, Leslie, for allowing me to have had this wonderful experience. Most importantly, I will never forget how Blue Fern Studios has made my cherished memories look so good! I will forever be a Blue Fern Studios fan and will keep you and your son in my prayers.

    Sincerely,
    Patty Rogers

  6. I am so sorry to learn of your difficult situation, and send you and your son my very best wishes. It is tragic that our veterans do not receive more support from the government, but how fortunate your son is to have a devoted mom like you. Blue Fern was a class act and will be missed.

  13. I am sorry to hear this but understand family comes first. You son was very brave and unfortunate that he was injured. I loved your products and will miss them. Awhile back some friends helped me move and they came across my stash of Blue Fern Products. One of mt best friend said be careful with that is the most precious paper she has. So I am sad to see you close and will miss your fabulous papers. God bless and take care of you and your family.
