April Inspiration - Megan

Hi Blue Fern Fans :)

Today I have two layouts to share with you, and one storage solution :) and for each project Ive used a different collection.
I recently found this photo hiding in my photo stash and had to use it; my wee Dougal <3 when he was a puppy peering over the temporary gate - he's 14 now!
This project uses two pieces of Optimistic from the new In the Mood Collection.

To create the background I have cut several of the 'diamonds' from the second piece of paper, inked the edges with a grey ink pad and popped them up with foam dots.  Ive also splattered pink and white paint over the page, and randomly stamped with grey ink.  The heart at the centre of the title has been painted pink and then covered in glitter.

I used two different chipboard designs, one to enhance the focal point of my photo and the other to give extra depth and interest to the page.  Each piece uses a different embossing powder which helps separate each piece from the other.

Printed chipboard is so versatile, here Ive just taken two of the printed chipboard pieces and layered them on top of each each, and Ive also used the circle pieces to help pop the photo up, giving more depth, and leaving just enough out for extra embellishment.

My second project uses two more cute boys ;) and this time the Wanderlust Collection.  The paper I used is Memento.

This time my background was created by spreading clear gesso over it and when dry spritzing with water and using different powders.  Again I have randomly stamped all around my composition.

Layers beneath the photo were created using the Calling Cards, and popping chipboard scraps between the layers.  A little chipboard can go a long way - I had one piece of Printer Bits left - I chopped this into three pieces, layering each piece on top of the Circle Groups chipboard.  The filmstrip was also a scrap piece left over.

Here you can see the depth created by all the layers.

The chipboard was embossed with Hot Cocoa and Wheat embossing powders.  The Beaded String and the filmstrip were coloured using rust pastes.

For my third and final project I wanted to create something to store my bottles of seedlings, embossing powders and glitters and I found the drawers at our local Warehouse.   This time I used the Remnants Collection.

Highgate patterned paper was used to cover the sides and the top of the drawers.  The white and grey woven pattern on the drawers was already there, I just covered the drawer handles with glitter.

To give the butterfly dimension, I sprayed it with water and curved the wings while wet.  When it was dry it was simply painted.

The berries on the end of the leaves I dipped in seedlings - they look like grapes!

The flourish underneath the cluster was from the Printed Chipboard set - this was simply painted to match the overall colour scheme.

April inspirations by Jennifer Jacques

Hello all Blue Fern Fans,

It's my turn again here on the blog, with my April inspirations.
I chose to work with three different collections this time.

First of all, a layout with a 2018 collection, Remnants.

Beaumont (b-side) paper was used as my background paper.  You can see it on the left.  On the right, this is Devonshire that I've used.  As I layered that particular part on a scrap of cardstock, I can tuck some Lace 4 pieces under it to add some details between the two papers.  You can also see the beautiful Blacksand embossing powder on my fairy chippie.

Finally, look at those beautiful BFS flowers ðŸ’•

The two white ones with the pearl inside are from Remnants Florals and
the yellow one, above my picture, is in the Fresh Florals set.
I added some flairs and some diecuts leaves with the flowers and that was it for that layout!

For my second layout, Garden life was the collection that have inspired me.

Sun kissed (b-side) is the paper that I've had a crush on this time.  I applied some clear gesso, some texture paste through a stencil and then, some pigment powders to enhance my focal point.

After all my mediums was dry, I stamped here and there with Departure Stamp that is perfect for vacation themed layouts.

I layered my two pictures on a tag made with In Bloom paper.
Under that, a piece of Flower bed paper.

I also add in my clustering some flowers made out of vellum paper and embossed with Snow embossing powder.  On the right corner, I displayed some cute BFS flowers from Garden blooms and Fresh florals

Beside, the title is a chippie from Arrow words set,
embossed with Ebony powder.

Really love that pinky layout: did you?

Finally, my favorite layout for this month.
With one of my favorite Blue Fern collection of all time: Happy Accident!

The paper named Chance is my background here.  I applied some clear gesso, some modeling paste through a stencil and added some watercolor effect with sprays.  I made 2 tags with Layerings cards paper to display my picture on.

See that beautiful color on my title?

It's Coral embossing powder and I'm in looooooove with it!

On the next pictures, you will see a lot of Blue Fern Studios flowers.
The peach one is from Chesterville blooms and I admit that I've split it in two parts: on the left higher corner under my picture and a smaller part that I've rolled on itself on the opposite.
Two beautiful Dark tropic blue lilies and a white burlap from Remnants blooms beside the picture.  On the right side, another white one (with a flair in her middle) and a pink one from Moody florals.

Here and there. some black stamping with Swiss dots to add details on that background.

As final touches, some fussycut Butterflies, some pearls,
some white gesso splatters and that's all for this Sourire layout.

April Pages . . . created by Sharon!

Hi Everyone!

I have been anxiously awaiting Spring and it seems to finally be here. I am very happy and excited to be sharing the layouts that I created for April! ♥  So here goes . . .

My first two pages were made with the amazing "Wanderlust" collection:

I absolutely love this gorgeous collection!  To me, it is perfect for vacation and summer photos.

♥ My First Layout:  Fantastic Getaway

I fussy cut a favorite photo of my daughter, Anne, taken back in the Summer of 2013 to use as the basis for my page.  I thought it would be wonderful to use "Seascape" as my background paper.  Isn't the paper beautiful?

I featured 2 different laces here - Lace 6 and Lace 11.  And I LOVED embossing directly on my page using the Buttercup Embossing Powder along with one of the crackle texture stamps in the "sandy" area of the background paper.

Here are some close ups:

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: Wanderlust "Escape"
Chipboard: Wanderlust Chipboard Shapes
Embossing Powder: Buttercup
Stamp: Crackle Texture
Flowers: Chesterville Blooms
Seedlings: Glass
Lace:  Lace 6, Lace 11

My Second Layout:  Enjoy the Journey

I found a wonderful photo of the carousel at Bryant Park that I took during one of our visits to NYC!  I thought the lyrics from a favorite Joni Mitchell song of mine, "Circle Game," would be perfect here.

Again, I thoroughly enjoyed using the paper from the Wanderlust Collection.  This time I picked  the flip side of "Pacific Coast" to use in my background:

I just love these beautiful colors!!

And I decorated the chipboard carousel horse here on my page, too.

Here are some close ups:

I also want to mention that I loved working with the Ivory, Green Ivory and Antique Gold embossing powders and the Wintergreen Seedlings to create my Carousel Horse!

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: Wanderlust "Pacific Coast" and "Memento"
Chipboard: Carousel Horse, Wanderlust Printed Chipboard Shapes
Embossing Powder:  Ivory, Green Ivory, Antique Gold
Flowers: Apricot Blooms, Chesterville Blooms
Seedlings: Wintergreen

I thoroughly enjoyed making both of these pages using Blue Fern Studios' Wanderlust
collection  - using all of their items made it a pleasure to scrap!

And my third page was made using the gorgeous "Remnants" collection:

My Third LayoutRemember this Day

I came across this treasured photo of my dad and I taken on my wedding day on March 3, 1990.  I have always loved this photo and thought that using the "Remnants" collection would be a perfect way to scrap it.

Just gorgeous!!!

I used the lyrics from Amy Grant and Gary Chapman's song
"My Father's Eyes."  I get teary eyed just thinking of this moment!!!

Some close ups:

I totally enjoyed using the Turkish Panel chipboard embossed with "Ivory" embossing powder!  And embossing directly on my page using the firework-like stamps from the "Christmas Collage" stamp set.

I am going to cherish this page for years to come thanks to the Blue Fern Studios products!

Blue Fern Product List:
Paper: Remnants "Westfield"
Chipboard: Turkish Panel, Remnants Printed Chipboard Shapes
Embossing Powder: Ivory
Stamp: Christmas Collage

I hope that I inspired you to create.  I find that it easy and fun when I use BFS!!

Three new layouts by Jessica

"Special"

My first layout I created for the Blue Fern Studios design team for April is titled "Special".  For this layout, I chose to use papers from the Heartland Collection.  The background paper is Love Blooms and I used the Love Notes paper to build the matting under the picture.

I applied clear gesso to the background paper then did some stenciling with modeling paste.  To add more white with the modeling paste, I used diluted gesso on a plastic bag and "smooshed" it up and down my page.  My next step for the background work was to use a different stencil with modeling paste in areas around the page.  While it was still wet, I applied Dark Chocolate embossing powder over the modeling paste then dried it with a heat gun.  I love embossing with texture paste - for the next step, I added blue mist with a paint brush to the areas around the embossed stenciling.

At this point, I put my picture and embellishments in place then splattered diluted gesso up and down my page to create a soft and relaxing feel to it.

The Blue Fern Flourish chipboard was first embossed with Dark Chocolate embossing powder, then I added some Solar Flare glitter randomly in spots with matte gel medium.  Both lilies are from the Wanderlust Lillies set.  The lily to the left of the picture has Blue Ice Glitter applied with matte gel.  The lily to the right has Black Ice glitter applied to the tips with matte gel also.

Here's my list of Blue Fern Studios products for this layout:

"The Good Life"

My next creation features the Amber & Apricot collection.  My background paper is Sunny Disposition, and I love that I was able to  play with a lot of colors on this layout.

The Blue Fern Studios Seedlings with matte gel helped to accomplish the colorful and fun background.  I used Gold Nugget, Harvest, Pink Topaz, and Vivid Pink Seedlings.  The photo is mounted on the Amber & Apricot Birdsong paper pieces and some of the collection's Printed Chipboard.

I used flowers from two different sets: Dark Tropic Lilies and Wanderlust Lilies.  The white lace that is dangling to the left of the titled is Lace #10 from Blue Fern Studios - I love how it can twist and add dimension!  Here are a couple of closeups:

"XOXO"

My final layout features the In the Mood collection background paper with Memoires Calling Cards paper as matting for the photo.

I used the Tattered Newsprint stamp with Pure Red embossing powder randomly on the background.  To add interest and softness, I used Lace #10 to the top of the picture and Lace #12 on the side.

The flowers coral roses on the page are from the Happy Roses set and the other flowers are from the Harvest Lilies set.

The chipboard on the page is the XOXO chipboard title and hearts on the side of the picture and I also used one of the keys from the Vintage Keys set.  All of the chipboard was embossed with Baby Pink and a sprinkle of Coral embossing powder.
