A layout and Mini-Album with Seaside Cottage by Keren Tamir

Hi Everyone,
Its Keren here on the Blue Fern Studios blog for my September post.
This month I've created a layout and a mini album using the Seaside Cottage collection.

Since I love the beach so much, Seaside cottage is one of my favourite collections and I loved using it again.

Here is my layout:

"Frolic in the Sun"

For the background paper I used the Seaside Cottage Glory paper.
I used a picture of some seagulls flying in the air. It looks like they are Frolicking in the sun and dancing in the sunset. Thats why I used that chipboard title. The title was sprayed in gold ink.

The photo was framed with the Marseille frame which was painted in white gesso, then stamped with the Brocade texture. I used the same technique for the flutter medley and added it to the side of the frame. Then I embellished with matching Blue Fern Studios' flowers and added bits of the Persian ornament chipboard in between the flowers.

"Vacation"

For my second project this month I created this Sand Castle mini-album.
The mini album already comes like this and its made out of MDF material. However you could easily make and cut these shapes out of cardboard or other material to create your own mini album.

For the background and embellishments I used the following Seaside Cottage papers: Gala, Splendor, Glory and Calling Cards.

For the cover I used some Blue Fern Studios flowers and some seashells. I also used a few of the following chipboard pieces: Seaside Seashells, Seaside Treasures and By the sea. For the title, I used the Summer Vacation chipboard title and cut out the Summer word out of it. All the chipboard pieces in the album were either embossed with Oatmeal or Breeze embossing powders and then lightly edged with brown distress ink.

For the next pages I used the Destination Label and the Sweetheart frame chipboard pieces which were both embossed with the Oatmeal Embossing powder.

For the following two pages I used the Seaside Lanterns, Memory Frame and Circle Links. All of these chipboard pieces were embossed with the Breeze embossing powder.

For this next page I used the Lane street sign to frame my photo and the and one of the Jubilation corners for the following page. I also use a chipboard shell above the photo which can be seen from the front cover. All of these were embossed with the Breeze embossing powder.
For the last page, which is the back of the album I used the Chipper chipboard frame to frame the photo. The frame was embossed in Breeze embossing powder.
As a final touch I added some snow texture around all the page edges.

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios Blog
Have a wonderful day!!!

September Inspiration From Maja

Hello, Blue Fern Studios fans, welcome to the blog today :)

It's my turn to share some inspiration - all of my projects for today are made using the latest (and oh so gorgeous!) Seaside Cottage collection.

Let's begin with this blue and sand layout I made using the paper I just fell in love with as the background ;)

I just love the ombre look of this Embark paper! It's just perfect for summer seaside photos :) I stamped the fishing net pattern directly on the paper:

Then I layered several pieces of various papers to mat my photo. Then I mounted the Seashell Frame over the photo. I heat-embossed the chippie with Ginger ep and then smudged some white gesso here and there for a more shabby look. Then I added some BFS flowers - I removed the navy parts of the roses and replaced them with a shell or a button:

...and used the navy buds elsewhere on the page :)

I also added two more Seaside Cottage chippies: for the title piece I used the Perfect Day chipboard that I embossed with In The Navy and Breeze eps and then splashed it with white mist and added a touch of golden glitter. Then I completed the title-flowers cluster with the Seaside Flourish piece embossed with Oatmeal and Mushroom, and added some real seashells and starfishes:

The End of A Perfect Day:
Papers: Embark, Whitewash, Calling Cards, Glory
Chipboard: Perfect Day, Seashell Frame, Seaside Flourish
Flowers: Seaside Lilies, Seaside Roses, Attic Charm Glitter Roses
EP: Ginger, Oatmeal, In The Navy, Breeze, Mushroom
Stamps: Essential Textures

The Seaside Cottage papers are perfect for cardmaking too. Here's a universal card  - and it doesn't even contain marine elements ;)

I layered several papers and added a piece of the Marrakesh Panel chipbboard that I coloured with white mist:

I surrounded the stamped sentiment with gorgeous shabby Seaside Lilies and Roses and added another stamped image decorated with a resin flower, for some visual symmetry:

Then I made another card, this time going for the marine style and mermaid shaker box element:

I die-cut a porthole in metallic cardstock and placed the mermaid image from the Calling Cards sheet inside:

I added some lilies and a glitter rose together with real seashells and starfish:

Cards:
Papers: Calling Cards, Mermaid, Whitewash, Glory
Chipboard: Marrakesh Panel
Stamps: Deja Vu
Flowers: Seaside Lilies, Seaside Roses, Attic Charm Glitter Roses

And last but not least - the layout you may have spotted earlier, as it is my take on the September Moodboard challenge (have you joined us yet?):

I cut the inside circle out of the Mermaid paper, matted the sheet with Whitewash paper to make kind of the porthole window in which I put the photo. I matted the photo with pieces of papers and journaling cards, added flowers and real seashells and starfishes and some metal charms too:

I decorated the window with the Seaside Lantern piece which I added some colours to with Ginger, Breeze and 14 Karat powders:

I embossed the title Summer Vacation piece with Oatmeal ep:

Summer Vacation:
Papers: Calling Cards, Mermaid, Whitewash, Glory
Chipboard: Summer Vacation, Seaside Lanterns
Flowers: Seaside Lilies, Attic Charm Daisies, Tranquil Roses & Lilies
EP: Oatmeal, 14 Karat, Breeze

That is all from me today, do visit the BFS blog for more inspiration!

~ Hello, September with Sandi ~

Hello, hello!
Thanks so much for coming by the blog today.
Sandi here with you today sharing my September creations.
It is always so exciting to go in my scrap room and play with my Blue Fern Studios projects!
I love being a part of this team.

"Summer Vacation, Lucy Style"

First up: I haven't done a "Lucy" page in a while, so this old photo of Lucy fishing is perfect for using my Seaside Cottage papers. I've used both sides of the Splendor paper so that I could slit the grooves between the wood panels and distress them a bit. I've only used a minimal amount of mixed media so that the beautiful images would be dominant. Just a bit of colorizing with Cotton Candy Imagine Mist and stenciling.

To get a uniform look, all three pieces of chipboard were treated the same way. First they were primed with white gesso, then heat embossed with a combination of Ginger and Chili Powder Embossing Powder. The large lantern from the Seaside Lanterns set got a heavier dose of Chili Powder, It was simply tucked in amongst my flowers and other paper layers.  The Harvest Lilies are new to the store and they seemed to work perfectly for this layout!

I thought the chain and lantern would complete the corner of this page and indeed, they fit beautifully and balanced the design.

I love the chunky look of the Summer Vacation chipboard and tried to give it a bit more ombre' look with my two powders. I left sections of the chipboard less heated for an interesting texture.

A good close-up of the dimension you can achieve with your layers, chipboard and flowers. The photo was framed with Seaside Cottage Mermaid and Calling Cards.

Blue Fern Studios Products used:

Chipboard: Seaside Lanterns, Summer Vacation
Embossing Powder: Ginger, Chili Powder

"Fall Memories"

My granddaughter KK loves her horses! She recently sent a few photos that I'm sure she's hoping to see on some scrapbook pages! LOL I pulled out one of my favorite collections … Autumn Anthology because I knew it would work perfectly with her blue checked shirt and her horse's coat. Because I had a wide section of blue background using the Robin paper, I was able to do some simple stenciling without covering up any pretty images. The Mercantile paper is an absolute fave of mine and I've torn it into strips. It's a busy design but the colors and images are wonderful.

I have a lot of layers of chipboard going here and it's hard to photograph because they are semi-covered with the photo layer. But I used the Mini Ring Things as a bottom left layer and also around the edges of the page. These were inked and embossed with Ginger and given a smidgen bit of Burnt Copper Glitter for shine. The next layer, other than the paper was the Flourish Medley piece which was cut in half to lengthen it. It was embossed with Ebony Embossing Powder as well as Ginger, topped off with bits of the Burnt Copper Glitter. The Collage Frame was treated the same and is directly beneath my matted photo.

I wanted to share just a closer view of the frame and flourish pieces. They look divine in real life!

For flowers, I combined some of the Tranquil Blooms with our Seaside Lilies. A Calling Card serves as my title.

I'm hooked on these side views because depth, layers and texture are "my thing!"

"Remember Moments"

This "Mermaid" paper has become the signature paper from the Seaside Cottage collection and I love it! My original intent was to use it for an old photo of my dad but that will have to come another time …. once I get more of these papers. However, I was itching to scrap this brother and sister photo taken near a beach. Photo credit to the Souza's photographer, name unknown.

Since everyone has already used this paper, I decided to "go big or go home" and used the large title "Remember Moments." Otherwise, it's actually a quite simple page. Under my photo I've used the Crossing the Lines chipboard. Both of these large pieces were inked and treated with some old rusting powders.

Seaside Gala and Calling Cards papers were torn and tucked under my photo and on top of the chipboard. Cheesecloth was used as a base. I'm loving how versatile the Blue Fern Studios lilies are.

A close-up of the title and also a view of some of the random stamping.

The stenciling is light but yet ties the theme together. Now this layout is headed off to this sister who is missing her brother while he's away on the mission field.

Blue Fern Studios Products used:

Paper: Seaside Cottage Mermaid, Gala, Calling Cards
Chipboard: Remember Moments, Crossing the Lines
Flowers: Dark Tropic, Late Winter and Seaside Lilies, Courtship blooms
Stamp: Widgets

That's all for now!
See you next month!
