3 colourful layouts

Hi =) Maja here today to inspire you Blue Fern lovers with some layouts. I made three using both the new "Ombré Dreams" and the "Blue Fern Garden" papers for my projects. I love the watercolor effect on "Ombre Dreams" which goes so well with Distress Inks and stencils. It gives even more depth to the paper.

My first layout is of my son swimming in the pool. Here I have used a circle stencil with three differnt colors of Distress Ink. I also used a circle stiched stamp.

I have treated the chipboard pieces with Gelatos and Stickles.

Blue Fern Products used:
Papers: Ombre Dreams - Susan´s Dream, Dream Cards
Chipbord: Wild Florish Frame, Spring Trinkets

My next layout is also one made with Ombre Dreams using Distress Inks and Stencils. I have also used a couple of stamps.

Here I have treated my chipboard pieces with Gelatos, Silks and Primas chalk.

Blue Fern products:
Papers: Ombre Dreams - Joyce`s Dream, Dream Cards
Chipboard: Layering Steams, Mixed Chains

For my third and last layout I´ve used the Blue Fern Garden and also here a stencil and Distress Ink.

1960 by Lisa Griffith

Hello there!
It's my turn to share my projects that I made this month. For both my layout and my card
I used the same techniques on my chipboard pieces , and I really love how they turned out.

The first project is a layout featuring a photograph of my Grandma....

'1960'

Here I have used a gorgeous Blue Fern Studios chipboard called 'Blooming Flourish.' I will try to show a close up below so you can see how a few simple techniques can alter your chipboard to make them look so beautiful. First I covered the chipboard with Viva Croco Crackling paint in white and set it with a heat gun to get an amazing weathered and cracked look. Then I covered the chipboard with a deep purple ink and let that dry. Last step is I applied embossing gel around the edges of the chipboard and then embossed them using silver embossing powder.  Really love the final result, it made the pieces look really aged and added so much character to my projects.
I hope you'll try it!

Here are a few close ups...

I also made a card using an absolutely stunning Blue Fern Studios piece called
'Damask Motif' that I treated the same way as I mentioned above,
and really let this piece be the star.

I started with the Blue Fern Studios paper called 'Parlour' as my base and then applied
gesso, purple mist and some stamping underneath the altered chipboard.

Here is a close up..

I hope I have inspired you a little to alter your chipboard,
and have fun playing with some textures!

Until next time,
Lisa

An Altered Project, A Mixed Media Canvas and a Layout...

Hi, Lisa here with 3 different projects for my May Blue Fern Studios Blog Post. To show you versatility using the wonderful Blue Fern Studios chip board, I give you an altered box, a mixed media canvas and a layout. With National Scrapbooking Day coming upon us this weekend, I was inspired to stretch my creativity. And here is what I came up with...

                                        The Button Box
I aged the Vintage Lock by heat embossing it using a bronze embossing powder, and adhered it to the front flap on the box.
I used a silver embossing powder on the scissors to give it an aged worn look, and while the melted powder was still wet, I wiped it off a little to make it appear as if the silver plate was flaking off.

I used the Doodle Corners on the corners of my button box, heat embossing them with the same bronze powder I used on the Vintage lock. I also heat embossed the buttons and spools and scattered them among the flowers. I wound floss around the spools and tied floss in the button holes.

                                                                       Miss Tailor Set

                                                                       Vintage Locks
                                                                      Doodle Corners

                                                      Mixed Media Canvas
I used the Art Nouveau Frame for my 12 x 12 canvas. I white washed everything in Gesso, and used sprays and color mists on the chipboard pieces while they were still slightly damp. The color bleeds into the Gesso.

                                                                 Gabrielle Butterfly Set
                                                                   Art Nouveau Frame

                                                                      A Layout
I cut the Damask Motif in half and used it to frame my photo for visual interest. I used crackle paint on the piece and sprayed a color mist after it dried.

The beauty of Blue Fern Studios chip board is that it withstands just about any medium and holds up Really Really well. There isn't anything I wont try on it.

The butterfly was base coated with Gesso and then sprayed with 2 different colors while it was still wet.

Spring Colours from Camilla

Hi everybody! Camilla here with some new Blue Fern Studios projects.

For this layout I used the gorgeous Garden Gate chipboard from Blue Fern Studios. I painted it in white gesso and stamped gold ink on it using a script texture stamp. The paper are from the Vintage Spring Basics collection from Maja Design.

Memento Vivere means Remember to live. This is something we all need to be remembered of when life is busy. The idea for the title of my layout was from the paper that is from Maja Design's Vintage Spring Basics collection. I have used a few chipboard pieces on this layout - Ornate Medallions, Damask Motif and Brigitte Butterfly Set. I painted them in white gesso and then I added some micro beads in silver.

I also made a birthday card. Here I used the Brigitte Butterfly Set and the Heart Set.
