'Happy' by Marta Lapkowska + VIDEO tutorial

Hello crafty souls :)
It's Marta here with my very first video tutorial just for you.

Firstly I would like to say how happy I am joining Blue Fern Studios team. I hope to inspire you with my video tutorials and welcome you in my mixed media world.

I was born and raised in Poland. I am currently living in Ireland and have been for nearly ten years.
I graduated as a Sociologist from Wroclaw University in Poland. I am a proud mum of a beautiful girl Emily. My inner soul is trully a creative person. Since I remember I have loved art, craft, creations and have a passion for innovative techniques.
My craft journey started from making cards for close relatives. Slowly I was trying new things, learning new techniques. After all I fall in love with mixed media and journaling. I adore teaching people and share my knowledge.
I love playing around, experimenting and creating unique pieces.
From cards and tags to layouts, mixed media canvases, journal pages and altered objects.
For the past three years art and craft is my way of living - so far it's the best journey I could have imagined.
If you would like to see more of my works please feel free to visit my blog:

For todays post I created mixed media scrapbooking page 'Happy'.
This beautiful photo shows my friend's Wedding Day.

Stunning 'Sanctuary' collection was a perfect match to the photo. I used paper called 'Bountiful'
I added few different chipboards and stamps.

Used products:

Laughter, Happy, Smile   Sanctuary: Bountiful   Bohemian Flowers
 Mini Ring Things   Forever Stamp

I used embossing powder to alter the chipboards.
This is a great way to add dimention to your project.

I hope you will enjoy my video and get some inspirations.

Happy crafting, Marta xx

Dreaming with You & Me

Hello friends!

We are now into the second month of 2015 and it's my turn on the Blue Fern Studios blog today to share my creations with their fabulous products. For today's post, I'm going back to my favourite collection Ombre Dreams.

Here is the layout I made of my two boys (who else?):

As usual, layering different BFS chipboard pieces and papers from the Ombre Dreams collection. As you watch the video, you would also have noticed that I changed the order of my workflow. Instead of working on the background first, I am now starting with the chipboards then my layers, so that I can use that bit for working out the best way to create the background.

Some close-ups:

And here is my start-to-finish video:

Blue Fern Studios products used:

Ombre Dreams papers - Joyce's Dream, Charlotte's Dream, Dream Cards, Shannon's Dream
Chipboards - Graduated Squares, Printer's Bits

That's all I have for today, thanks for dropping by!

New Beginnings with Jelissa

Hello Blue Fern Studios fans, and welcome to the new year!

I'm up on the blog today with a video tutorial of how I put together a mixed media journal cover, using nothing more than Blue Fern Studios chipboards, some metal bits and flowers. I was very inspired by one of our former creative team member Joyce Kers who kept a journal on inspirational women in her family, and I wanted to make a similar journal for myself but of my family tree which I hope to fill up in the year 2015.

This is the project:

and close-ups (warning: graphic-intensive!)

I have always used papers, cloth or canvas to create my layers but for this journal cover I decided to create my layers with the chipboards from Blue Fern Studios instead. The intricate laser-cut designs are perfect as every layer they form has lots of interesting details to catch the eye.

I wanted a blank white base to start with so that I can get to play with the new mediums I got for Christmas, but didn't want my chipboards to feel boring. So all the chipboard pieces were covered with different texture mediums.

My title piece which I kept simple.

Here is the video of how I put everything together:

Blue Fern Studios products used:

Floral Clock
Fall Foliage
Little Birds Set
Leafy Page Accents
Notebook Edges
"Family" word

Thank you for dropping by the blog!

Jelissa

Once Upon A Time with the new Sanctuary papers

Hi friends!

Today I'm up on the Blue Fern Studios blog with a video tutorial for you. And I'm so excited about this one because it features the amazing new paper collection Sanctuary by our new designer Manuela Zimmerman. If you're a fan of shabby romantic papers like me, you must hoard this collection NOW.

So I found this beautiful winter scenery photo while searching for inspiration on Pinterest (it's December after all) and it is just perfect for the dark pensive tones of the Sanctuary papers. This collection may seem nature-themed, but I found it to be perfect for my winter layout as well. That's how versatile it is!

Here's the project:

And some close-ups:

Love those chipboards! I've used Holiday Vine (snipped into 3 pieces and tucked everywhere), Shabby Flakes and Winter Trees.

Making my own snow here - it's so much fun :D

And here's the video of how I created this layout:

Don't forget, every month Blue Fern Studios has a sketch challenge going on. Here is this month's sketch by Michelle Singh:

So gorgeous isn't it? I'm so inspired I'll be using it for some of my other DT projects as well.

That's all I have for you now. Meanwhile, happy crafting!
