My First DT Projects By Angelica Franssen

Hello everyone! Angelica here with you today. I'm so excited to finally share my very first  projects as Blue Fern Studios designer. I’m so delighted to be part of a team with amazing designers and fantastic products. I hope this year you’ll be inspired by my projects. Here is a little bit about me….

My name is Angelica and I’m a stay-at-home mom. I’ve been married for sixteen years and have four children. I first started scrapbooking about fifteen years ago while my husband was serving in the military. He was frequently deployed and I needed something to keep me occupied. I wasn't a crafter until I found scrapbooking and never looked backed.  I love the art it's become today. I'm very passionate about scrapbooking and this has led me achieve a small successful business on Etsy.

You can find me at my blog
http://angelicascrappenings.blogspot.com/
This is my first project based on the sketch:
I used the Meadows of Time, Botanical Garden and Calling Cards pattern paper from the Sanctuary Collection. I painted the Grunge Frame chippy randomly with gesso and misted it. Once it was dry I added just a tad bit of burgundy paint.

For this layout I used the Garden Plaza and Conservatory papers also from the Sanctuary Collection. I did some layering with the Large Roman Clock pieces. Painting them with gesso then adding some textured paint.  Once dried I place the small clock on top of the large.

The Butterfly Grid had to be my most favorite piece. If you know me, you know I adore butterflies. I painted the grid and adhered it to the Boudoir pattern paper. Then, I layered the Tattered Butterflies over larger butterflies on the grid. Making it three dimensional.

Thank you for taking the time.....see you next month!!!

Happy & Thankful- By Keren Tamir

Keren here for my last post for 2014. What a great year it has been!! It was truly an amazing journey.
I have two layouts featuring the Sanctuary collection and a couple of frames and word chipboard pieces.

"Happy"

 Sanctuary "Meadows of Time" paper.

I used the seaside frame which I painted in two tones of distress paint.

As a title, I used the word Happy from the set: happy, laughter, smile.

<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>

"Thankful"

Sanctuary "Conservatory" paper.

I'm really happy about this fall layout of my family because I used the new round butterfly frame to frame the photo. The butterfly frame was designed by ME!!! for Blue Fern Studios. Visit the wholesale store to see some more of my designs.
Its really cool to use one of my own designs and I can't wait to see what my other DT members do with them.

The frame was painted in golden acrylic paint and then stamped with brown ink to create a textured pattern.

I used the Thankful chipboard as a title.

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios Blog!!
Have a wonderful day!!

Once Upon A Time with the new Sanctuary papers

Hi friends!

Today I'm up on the Blue Fern Studios blog with a video tutorial for you. And I'm so excited about this one because it features the amazing new paper collection Sanctuary by our new designer Manuela Zimmerman. If you're a fan of shabby romantic papers like me, you must hoard this collection NOW.

So I found this beautiful winter scenery photo while searching for inspiration on Pinterest (it's December after all) and it is just perfect for the dark pensive tones of the Sanctuary papers. This collection may seem nature-themed, but I found it to be perfect for my winter layout as well. That's how versatile it is!

Here's the project:

And some close-ups:

Love those chipboards! I've used Holiday Vine (snipped into 3 pieces and tucked everywhere), Shabby Flakes and Winter Trees.

Making my own snow here - it's so much fun :D

And here's the video of how I created this layout:

Don't forget, every month Blue Fern Studios has a sketch challenge going on. Here is this month's sketch by Michelle Singh:

So gorgeous isn't it? I'm so inspired I'll be using it for some of my other DT projects as well.

That's all I have for you now. Meanwhile, happy crafting!

love,

'Sanctuary' Inspiration by Lisa Griffith

Hello Blue Fern Studios friends....

I am a little later than usual this month due to some technical difficulties on my part...
But I actually felt very lucky to have a few more days as it gave me a bit more time to play
with the new collection 'Sanctuary', that I am so IN LOVE with....

'perfect'

I started with the beautiful paper 'Conservatory' and then I layered a lot of pieces of Blue Fern Studios papers including the 'Calling Cards' from the Sanctuary collection and some pieces from the Blue Fern Garden collection in the background and created lots of texture with gesso, paints, stamping and gold micro beads.

For my title I embossed a piece from the 'Chunky Word Set' set in copper to match my copper colored paints.

I also used pieces of the 'Shabby Brick Bits' which I painted in white and then covered in different paints in gold and copper colors. You can also see a piece of 'Ginger's Poppies' tucked under my photo.

'girl in bonnet'

For my second project I started with the paper 'Bountiful' also from the Sanctuary collection. I only recently tried to do a layout with a dark background and I love how it turned out, using a dark background paper looks so dramatic and makes your photos and embellishments really stand out.

I layered some gesso using several masks, some blue and pink paint and pieces of washi tape to create my background and then added some bits of lace, flowers, and tucked in a piece of 'Blue Fern Frame' that I painted white and blue. You can also see small pieces of the paper 'Mercantile' from the Montage paper collection.

'magical'

For my final layout I started with the paper 'Meadows of Time' from the new Sanctuary collection.
I just love the blue and brown vintage patterns here, so gorgeous and totally inspiring to me. I knew I wanted to make a wintery looking page so I started by adding gesso with a sea sponge for a very uneven look and then I added some mists in blue and brown.

I tucked in a few pieces of Blue Fern Garden paper, and then added some pieces of the 'Shabby Flakes' and a piece of 'Winter Titles' which I painted white and then sprinkled with white glitter.

I hope I have inspired you a little today :)
See you next time...
