A Trio of November Inspiration
by Nicole Doiron

Hello all my dear friends at Blue Fern Studios!

Nicole here today to share with you my November projects.

Let's start with this teal shabby chic layout of my niece Ella with her violin.

I used papers from the Serendipity collection to create a grid pattern collage on my page.  The brick design was made using the Essential Textures stamp and Snow Imagine Ink embossing powder.

I combined 2 chipboard pieces to create my title, one from the Sweet & Lucky set on which I created an ombre effect with the Sea Mist, Snow and Caribbean powders, and the other from the French Words set covered with Ebony.

Obviously, most of the pretty flowers found on my page are from Blue Fern Studios!  The bigger teal flower with the fuzzy center is from the brand new Memoires Blooms set - it's gorgeous!

Below you see the very elegant Gatsby Collage that I divided into 2 pieces to slide at either end of my photo.

The chipboard piece that inspired this whole concept is the Courtship Violin that you see peaking out from the bottom corner of the photo of my pretty and gifted niece, Ella!

Blue Fern Studios Products
Patterned Paper: Serendipity (Imagination, Fascination, Chronicle)
Chipboard: Courtship Violin, Gatsby Collage, Sweet & Lucky set, French Words
Flowers: Memoires Blooms, Spring Lilies, Tranquil Blooms, Courtship Blooms
Stamps: Essential Textures
Imagine Ink: Embossing Powders (Caribbean, Sea Mist, Ebony, Snow)

My 2nd page is as boyish as the first one was feminine.

I started off with some vintage Paisley & Vine papers to go along with this more masculine theme.

The title was taken from the Wish Wonder Dream set which I covered with Blue Sky embossing powder.  I added some fabulous Lightbulbs covered with Sand & Sea.

Again, I divided a longer piece of chipboard into 2 pieces, this time a piece of the Printer's Bits to fit vertically above and below my photo. On this piece is the Ruby embossing powder which I dabbed with a little bit of brighter red acrylic paint.

Some more of the Printer's Bits layered over the Triangle Eclipse covered in Stellar Night and dabbed with brown paint. On the background paper, I stamped the netting design from the Essential Textures stamp set.

You've seen this little cutie before... he is  my friend's son.

Last but certainly not least, I share with you a closer look at my layout
that was part of the November challenge reveal, featuring the latest collection, Memoires.

The November challenge is simply to use a Blue Fern Studios chipboard title on your project, ANY title so hopefully you will play along!

I had the perfect title in my BFS chipboard stash for this Autumn layout... An Autumn Story.
I simply covered it with a new favorite shade of Imagine Ink embossing powder called Golden Brick.

On my background, I sprayed different Autumn shades of mists plus used the new Crackled Textures stamps with brown ink and added some stenciling with modeling paste.

After treating it with a mix of Golden Bricks and Chili Powder powders, I cut the Treasured Floral Frame into several pieces to adorn my page with it here and there, combining it with the Fall Foliage set.  On the leaves, I mixed some Chili Powder, Tangerine and Nutmeg.

Another chipboard set that I am totally in love with is the Pretty Pumpkins set and here you see the smaller version. Totally gorgeous!

Finally, here is a closer look at the 'Autumn story' that I chose to document on this layout, a very beautiful shot of a splendid Fall day spent with my man, and framed with beautiful earthy tone flowers, including BFS Tranquil blooms.

Today It Is All About YOU!

Hi everyone.  Today we are back with some amazing layouts that we have found on blogs and in online galleries.  They aren't layouts from our Creative Team - they are projects created by YOU!  Take a look at what we found:

This elegant layout was created by Gerry van Gent using paper from the Ombre Dreams (background) and Sanctuary (fussy cutting) Collections.

Lynette Jacobs created this layout for our February Sketch Challenge.  We love the look she achieved on the Printer's Bits chipboard.  It looks like vintage enamel that is chipped around the edges.  If you want to know how to get this look, she explains it on her blog.

This is another layout that was created for our February Sketch Challenge by Misaki of Japan.  We feature layouts each month from our sketch challenge, but we can't include all of them, so it's nice to include them in this post.  Misaki has used paper from the Love Story Collection and added several pieces of chipboard which she embossed.

Marilyn Rivera also used paper from the Love Story Collection for this beautiful canvas and tucked in some Blue Fern chipboard behind her photo.

This sweet layout, created by Ginny Hickmott, we found in an online gallery. Ginny used paper from the Sanctuary Collection which seems just perfect with this photo of her cat, taken outside.

We hope you enjoyed seeing these layouts and found some inspiration for your next project.
Thanks to all of you for using Blue Fern products in such a beautiful way!

Dreaming with You & Me

Hello friends!

We are now into the second month of 2015 and it's my turn on the Blue Fern Studios blog today to share my creations with their fabulous products. For today's post, I'm going back to my favourite collection Ombre Dreams.

Here is the layout I made of my two boys (who else?):

As usual, layering different BFS chipboard pieces and papers from the Ombre Dreams collection. As you watch the video, you would also have noticed that I changed the order of my workflow. Instead of working on the background first, I am now starting with the chipboards then my layers, so that I can use that bit for working out the best way to create the background.

Some close-ups:

And here is my start-to-finish video:

Ombre Dreams papers - Joyce's Dream, Charlotte's Dream, Dream Cards, Shannon's Dream

That's all I have for today, thanks for dropping by!

One 2 3 of a Kind Layout Video Tutorial with Einat Kessler

Hey crafty friends! Einat Kessler here with my first video tutorial as BFS video educator. I'm so happy and honored to be joining this talented team!

I'm a mother of two teenage boys and married to a supportive loving husband. We live in Israel close to Tel Aviv. I started scrapbooking when my son was born and have been doing it ever since. As time went by it turned from a hobby to a business and today it's my full time job. Today I also create a lot of mixed media, art journaling, altered projects and interactive designs. I love experimenting and trying new things so my art is evolving all the time.

I'm happy to share with you my first video tutorial: One of a Kind mixed media layout.

Papers: Sanctuary - Meadows of Time
Papers: Sanctuary - Bountiful
Chipboard: One of a Kind
Chipboard: Printer's bits

My other project is an inspirational canvas. It's a 4X4 canvas that has a statement on it. I'm planning to have one of my studio walls filled with these...

I used the chipboards to create a textured background by covering them with gesso and spraying. Then I used a pen nib with black ink to write on the canvas and chipboard as if they were one.

Have fun creating!

Montage with Patter

I am so excited to share the new Montage papers with you this month along with some of the new chipboard pieces. Let's look at what I have for you today.

A Joyful Heart
For this 8 1/2 x 11 layout, I traced one of the Graduated Squares chipboard pieces onto the Montage Bouquet paper and cut it out to use as a third square on the layout.

Also, when trimming this gorgeous 12x12 piece of Montage Fairyland paper down to 8 1/2 x 11, I unfortunately had to cut off two of the beautiful edges. But it was easily solved. I stitched the bottom piece back onto the layout. I chose to leave the right edge bare but I could have easily stitched that on also. So don't ever hesitate to cut down these papers for smaller layouts.

To treat the chipboard pieces, I painted them all in black gesso. Easy but I love the "pop" that black provides to a creation.

What a Day
For this 8 1/2 x 11 layout, I used several new pieces of Blue Fern Studios chipboardWhat a Day, Printer's Bits, and Arrow Words. I just love all of these pieces. The gorgeous papers I used are Montage Now and Then and Calling Cards.

Again, I covered most of the chipboard pieces in black gesso except the Printer's Bits (the number 20). I used gelatos to color the numbers and then covered each one in Glossy Accents.

September Sketch
Have you joined in on the September Sketch Challenge yet? If not, be sure to click here for the details and to join in the fun. Remember you can do anything with these sketches! I turn the 12x12 Blue Fern Studios sketches into 8 1/2 x 11 layouts, art journal pages, and cards. This is the card that I created using the September Sketch.
To cover the Roman Clock set chipboard, I put on a layer of gesso. Then I spritzed with three different colors of Prima Color Bloom Mists to match the Blue Fern Studios Ombre Dreams paper.
