Natural look with Vintage Christmas collection by Wilma.

For this picture I wanted a  natural looking layout with a winter feeling.
I found the perfect background paper in the Vintage Christmas collection.

As you see I left a small strip on the right side.
It is the brandname strip and I can always use them or parts of it.
The title poste is a picture I made from a very old postbox in Locarno .
They still use it!

Today I waited a few hours with this post , hoping we get some sunlight.
But nothing is happening......
This because I used the new glitter Blue Fern Studios brings out.
It is so fine and beautiful in real life.
But no sun, no glitter showing up on my pictures...
Next time :)
The red spatters in the background are made with imagine mist .
Color Persimmon

Behind my photocluster I used the Twiggy Branch chipboard.
One of my favorites, it is so shapeable.
To give it this nature look I painted it with 3 colors acrylic paint in the brown tones .

Thats it for today, thanks for visiting the blog.
Have a great weekend!

A Layout Featuring Vintage Christmas with Debbie

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today sharing a layout I created with the new paper collection Vintage Christmas along with some of the new Imagine Ink products; mists, embossing powder and glitter.
I love the paper collection!  Gorgeous colors and details!  For my background I used the Wonderland paper and did some fussy cutting with the Magical paper and used the Calling Cards for some layers behind my picture, which by the way is me as a child.  I primed the background paper with some clear gesso and added some stenciling.  Once the stenciling was dry I added some of the Imagine Ink Mica Color Mist in Cotton Candy along with some pink microbeads from my stash and some Imagine Ink Glitter in Pyrite.

I primed the chipboard words Sparkle and Merry with some white gesso.  After it dried I sprayed it with the new Imagaine Ink Mist Jingle Bells and added some Pyrite Glitter.

Tucked beneath my flower cluster I used the chipboard piece Dresden Corsage which I primed with white gesso, sprayed with the Imagine Ink Mist Cotton Candy and applied some of the new Petal embossing powder.  I then embossed a layering stem chipboard piece with the new Lucky embossing powder.

So excited about all of the new products and can't wait to share more projects with you.  You can find all of the new products here in the store.

Thanks for stopping by!

Two more layouts by Wilma with the beautiful Autumn Anthology collection .

For my first layout we have to go back in time ........ 40 years !
I used the original picture of young me, I become vintage :)
The background paper is one of the Autumn Anthology collection, Gazebo
To create more interest I use the circuitry chipboard as my mask.
I had to spray it anyway with gesso for another layout.
So now I had a white chipboard piece and textured background at the same time.

Behind the picture I used the Wild Flourish frame .
And one bird from the Little Birds set.
All I did was adding some thin gelmedium to keep the original natural chipboard color.

I cut a few paper flowers from another paper out of the collection.
Glued it behind my flower.

My next layout , also made with the Autumn Anthology collection.
The picture is about 25 years old, bad quality .
But thats what we had than....and we should just use them on our layouts.

For the background paper I used the Parfumerie paper.
I toned down with gesso, leaving out some of the beautiful background pattern.
I pushed  a embossingfolder in the wet gesso to get the checkered texture.
Than I colored the background with 3 of the new mists:

The chipboard ( checker bits ) was inked up with a chipboard kind of color .
Than I embossed here and there with one of the new embossingpowders : petal
To tone down,  again some mixed media ink.

New are the glitters and embossingpowders at Blue fern Studios.
Just when I was finishing this layout my package arrived !
So I added some on my flower.
A little glitter never hurts :)
I used the Pyrite , a beautiful goldtone.

Thank you for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog.
Have a great week

Are You Thinking Ahead to Christmas?

We are, at Blue Fern Studios!  And we have the perfect collection to get you ready to start tackling those holiday projects.   If you plan to make cards, tags, or gifts for your family and friends, we have a beautiful collection to get you started.  And don't forget those projects for your home, or how about displaying a few layouts with photos of Christmas past?  The Blue Fern Vintage Christmas collection is just what you need.  Here's a close-up look at this elegant paper collection featuring shades of blue, green, red, pink, and neutral tones, all with a true vintage look.

We are also excited to introduce a brand new line of products called Imagine Ink.  These products were created to coordinate with our Vintage Christmas line.  No more searching for just the right color of mist, embossing powder, or glitter.  We have done all the work for you!

Our three new mists are Cotton Candy, Jingle Bells, and Winter Mint and they are sure to add just the right amount of luster and interest to your projects.

We have also added glitter!  These three colors, Phoenix, Caribbean, and Pyrite will bring just the right amount of sparkle!

And wouldn't it be wonderful to have some coordinating Embossing Powder?  We have taken care of that, too.  What an awesome way to enhance our chipboard designs!  Once again, we have taken the guess-work out of it by selecting four colors that will coordinate with the Vintage Christmas collection - Lucky, Poinsettia, Petal, and Fern.

We sure hope this has put you in the mood for Christmas.  We will be showing you projects from our Creative Team later this month.  Wait until you see how they are using these products!

And of course, we have designed some beautiful chipboard pieces, just in time for your holiday and winter creating.   Be sure to check back next week when we reveal the new designs.

Sandi's September Creations

Hello, Blue Fern fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing my September projects.

My most recent Design Team package contained the new Autumn Anthology collection, papers, chipboard, stamps and oh, yes, the new Imagine mists! Two of my September projects were already done but I managed to get one Autumn Anthology project done for this time around. More coming next month as I adore these papers and matching chipboard, mists and stamps!

"Lucy @ 33"

I haven't done a "Lucy" layout in a few months, so I was definitely feeling the urge to scrap a photo of her. I chose the Penmanship paper and some matching Calling Card notes for a photo mat and title.  I prepared my background with gesso, stenciling and the new Essential Texture stamp along with a hint of the Leaf mist applied with a sponge.

The Shrine Frame was gessoed, spritzed with a gold mist and then embellished with some random dark gold embossing powder as well as some clear embossing powder.  I didn't allow the gold embossing powder to completely melt. I left it with some grainy texture. Love the result! The Ginger's Poppies are one of my favorite BFS pieces! They are so intricate and unique. Here I have gessoed them and added touched of distress ink for color. I also colorized the leaf portion with the new Imagine Leaf spray mist.

Just another close-up of Ginger's Poppies.

My Garden Lattice Bits on the right were perfect for adding a little something along the edges of my layout. Here they were primed and spritzed with more of the dark gold, tea-stained mist.  This is also a great close-up of the Essential Textures stamp and the new Leaf mist. A few flowers, pearls and it was done. So fun!

"The Best Day Ever"

Next, I used more of the Frolic collection to create a wedding layout. I've scrapped this photo before but gave it away, so maybe this one will be mine. I tore a few sheets of the Frolic paper to add layers and change up the look of the Frolic Allegro paper. Then I applied my mixed media, including the new Imagine Mist in Persimmon along with a gold from my stash. There will be new mist colors coming out with each new paper collection from what I understand.

The Butterfly Damask chippy was cut in half and used a layer beneath my photo. I've primed, inked and randomly embossed it. The Arrow Word set provided my little subtitle "Love This" which was primed and spritzed. Lots of paper layers beneath the photo just because I love layers.

Of course, my title was the fabulous Best Day Ever chipboard title. This time I painted it and then sponged it with white paint to shabby it up. The Frolic Dans le Jardin paper provides lots of great butterflies to fussy cut and add as embellishments! Get an extra of that one!

"Adorable"

Last is the layout I created for our September Sketch challenge. And yes, that is myself when I was about 2 years old. I've used the Frolic Mercantile paper as my base and kept the mixed media pretty simple on this one .. just heavy gesso and stenciling.

I've treated all four pieces of chipboard the same for this project. The Destiny collage, Celebration Hearts, Princess Window, and the Adorable title from the Good vibes word set were all primed, misted and treated with distress ink to finish them. I wanted a very monochromatic feel to the chippys so that they almost blended with the paper.

Loving the Celebration chippy on it's own in the upper right corner .. so sweet for a "toddler baby" page.

Video Tutorial with the Autumn Anthology by Marilyn

Hi everyone!! Marilyn here with you today sharing two projects and a video tutorial with the Autumn Anthology collection. I really love this collection the colors and designs are amazing.  I also worked with the new mist - Imagine Ink- that are fantastic, you will see it in the video.
Here's my first project ...
I love the design of the Double Swirl-large  chipboard and I used  like a stencil too, you will see the process in the video tutorial.  I chose the Newsworthy paper from the new Autumn Anthology collection.

I paint my title "Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday" chipboard with the new mist- Persimmon color.

I added textures to the chippies with mediums and micro beads.

I cut out some butterflies from the Frolic collection.

I stamped with the "Textures circles" and the "Essential Textures" stamps.

Here's the video...I hope it inspires you!!!

"Love My Work"-
I made my second project with the September sketch challenge,
Le Ballon from the Autumn Anthology is this beautiful paper that I selected to make my page.  I also worked with the new mist- the sky color.

I cut out some butterflies and gave textures with glass beads.

My title is from the "Happy, Heart, Love" chipboard.

I used pieces of the Garden Lattice chipboard to surround my picture and stamped with the essential textures stamp.

Thanks for stopping by...Until next time!!! xx
