Secret Book Box

Hi and welcome to the Blue Fern Studios blog.
In my previous blog post  I shared two cards made with the Remnants collection.
I love this collection so much that I made another project with them.
This time I made a secret book box.

I had never made a secret book box before so I watched a few tutorials and pictures
and made one myself  from white chipboard sheets.
The box measures about 4,7 x 6,2 x 1,5 inches (= 12 x 16 x 4 cm).

I colored the entire book box with grey ink.

Then I glued Remnants papers on the in- and outside of the box.

I decorated the box with chipboards. These are brown colored and I also added a touch of
copper wax to give them a nice shine.
Furthermore there are some flowers and Remnants chipboard shapes added.

On the inside I glued a free vintage family photo I found on internet.

This book with the secret compartment is a fun way to give a gift to someone or
to hide your own special bits and pieces in.

Here is a list of the products I used:

Patterned Paper:
Remnants collection

Chipboard:
Remnants printed Chipboard shapes
Deja vu border chippie
fancy fob watch

Flowers:
Blue fern studios flowers

Thanks so much for visiting.
Hugs, Henriëtte.

Wedding Card & Gift Bag Set - Vicky Alberto

Well, I think it is obvious that I simply adore Blue Fern's HOMESPUN collection... so, I created a "country style" wedding card & gift bag set.

On the card, I used several of the collection's adhesive shapes plus LOVE STORY ACCENTS chipboard, and beautiful Blue Fern flowers too!  I primed the chipboard with gesso, glazed on some glass beads medium and quickly sprinkled some embossing glitter (Blue Fern), as well added some diamond dust to the dress (for more texture).  The only thing from my "stash" is the pink heart paper doily.

For the gift bag, I used a simple craft bag and a circle doily I had... then, I added Homespun paper collection layers, adhesive accents, Blue Fern flowers and more love store accents chipboard too.  On the chipboard, I used texture paste and sprinkled some Blue Fern embossing glitter (before it dried).  On the word "love" is simply glass beads medium over gesso.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at project today... back soon to share another project!

Two Kirigami Gift Boxes - Vicky Alberto

I am back to share a cute project idea - 6 x6 inch kirigami gift boxes. These are great for any time of year. I had fun playing with the Blue Fern's Heartland and Homespun collections, plus their gorgeous flowers, lace, adhesive shapes (that coordinate with the paper collections)... and of course chipboard (the clock is from the love story accents).

Here is a close-up of the first box...
The only thing used from my "stash" is a paper doily.

Here is a close-up of the second box...
On the clock chipboard (from the love story accents), I simply dabbed ink to leave expose raw chipboard showing. Sometimes less is more on some projects and a simple technique is perfect to suit the design style.

Thanks for taking the time to view my projects today and you can find a kirigami gift box tutorial on my blog at:

Loaded envelope with Homespun papers

Hello, DT Henriëtte here today sharing my first ever loaded envelope.
I used one of my favorite Blue Fern Studios paper collections "Homespun".

This was my first loaded envelope, so before I started I watched some video tutorials and just began by making the envelope from white cardstock.
I made three pockets and decorated them with "homespun" papers, chipboard shapes, calling cards,
lace and flowers. I also made a  tassel out of white cotton twine and attached it to the side.

To fill the envelope I made a lot of "stuffers".

A loaded envelope wouldn't be complete without a wand.
I made these two wands.

I also decorated a little notebook with the homespun chipboard shapes.
This is such a sweet image with the cross stitching.

There's one big tag and two little tags in the envelope.

A few decorated little clothespins and two paperclips.

and of course a card.

I loved making all the stuffers for the envelop with this beautiful paper collection.

I hope you like it to.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs, Henriëtte.

Two cards with Heartland papers

Hi, DT Henriëtte here today sharing two card I've created using the heartland papers.
This paper collection is gorgeous and perfect for your love themed project.

I used the heartland papers to make the card bases and dimensional layers.
For the card on the left I colored the "Love Story Adornments" chipboard with red ink
and placed it behind the die cut circle frame.
I've added white lace and flowers in the lower right corner.

For the other card I colored the chipboard frame with pink and green inks to match the papers and glued behind it a cut out from the Heartland "Love notes" paper.
I added flowers, a cute bow made from dyed seam binding, some die cut leaves
 and a stamped sentiment.

Here is a list of the products I used:

Patterned Paper:
Heartland collection

Chipboard:
Love Story Adornments
Breezy's frame

Flowers:
Garden Blooms
BFS flowers

Cards for "LOVE" month - by Vicky Alberto

My name is Vicky Alberto (aka Simply Paper in the design world). After a 4-year break from being on design teams, I am thrilled to be designing for Blue Fern Studios for 2019... and that I finally get to renew my passion for paper art!  My blog address is http://simplypaperandcreativity.blogspot.com where I chat about my work, and share my various tutorials.  I describe my style as “a little shabby and a lot of chic”, with a vintage approach.

I enjoy working with vintage/romantic style papers and adore adding distressed layers, doilies, lace, stamping, and putting lots of flowers and chipboard on my projects.  Therefore, Blue Fern is a match made in heaven for me... since they have it all and more!

Sometimes my projects feature handmade flowers and unique gift boxes (all of my tutorials are listed on my blog - quick links in the right sidebar).  Also, my full design gallery can be viewed at http://www.scrapbook.com/profiles/444271.html.  Now, enough about me and onto the beautiful elements I designed with this month...

The first card features a mix of the gorgeous Heartland and Homespun collections, plus love story adornments & 2 hearts set chipboards.  On the chipboard, I primed with gesso, glazed with a glass beads medium and then sprinkled BF pink embossing powder (before it dried).  Look at the gorgeous flowers and adhesive shapes that coordinate with the paper collections... wow Blue Fern makes designing so easy!  The only thing from my own "stash" is that cute heart paper doily.

The second card features once again a mix of the beautiful Heartland and Homespun collections, plus love letters chipboard.  On this chipboard piece, I simply randomly dabbed gesso to leave exposed raw chipboard.  I then dabbed a bit of clear glue and quickly sprinkled blue BF embossing powder (before it dried).  The only thing from my "stash" is the circle paper doily.  More gorgeous BF flowers that perfectly matched this project are featured here!

Thanks for taking the time to view my projects today.  I cannot wait to create more and share new projects soon.  Blue Fern is a real treat to design for since there are so many amazing elements to design with, that all perfectly coordinate.  Blue Fern is truly one stop shopping!

Valentine inspiration by Henriëtte

Hi, my name is Henriëtte van Mierlo, I'm 49 years. I live in The Netherlands with
my husband Robert and my 17 year old daughter Emma.
I work parttime in financial administration and in my sparetime I love to craft,
especially card making.
I’ve been making cards for many years, tried different styles but nowadays they are
more shabby chic/vintage.
Besides card making I also like mixed media projects, flower making (foamiran, fabrics, paper),
DIY projects, working with polymer clay and altering art.
When I'm not crafting I love reading books and I try to go to the gym twice a week.
Well, never a dull moment and often not enough hours in the day.

Here are the links to my blog, facebook, pinterest, instragram and you tube channel.

I'm very excited to be on the Blue fern Studios design team and looking forward to share my creativity with you.

The first project I like to share is in style with today's occasion Valentine's day. 💘

I altered this heart shaped box using the beautiful Heartland papers.

First I cut all the paper pieces and glue them on, covering the box with the papers.

Then I decorated the box and lid with red ribbon, lace trim, BFS flowers and chipboard pieces.
I embossed the "love letters" chipboard with BFS "oatmeal" embossing powder.

The chipboard heart and envelope are colored with inks.

Chipboard:
