Heartland with Daria

Today we are excited to once again feature our "Blue Fern Fan of the Month", Daria Makarova.  For this week's layout, Daria has used the lovely "Sweet on You " paper from the Heartland Collection.

Daria used this paper "because it is very beautiful and romantic".  She has added some texture paste and a few layers of paper to build the background.  The chipboard pieces (Quatrefoil Panel and Chesterville Collage) have been painted, then embossed using Blue Fern Wheat Embossing Powder.

The leaf accents are from a stamped image that was embossed with Wheat Embossing Powder, then cut out and tucked behind the photo.

Daria has added flowers from the Heartland Roses and Blooms, Spring Lilies, and Courtship Roses.  Sprinkled throughout her layout you can also see where she has stamped bits of the Royale Collage Stamp.

A big thank you to Daria for using the Heartland Collection in such a gorgeous way.
Be sure to check back next week when we will have another layout from Daria!

February projects by Tartine Peluche

Hi Everyone!

Today, it's my turn on the Blue Fern Studios blog and I'm so excited to share with you my new projects. A new collection will be soon announced and I had the pleasure to work it to show it to you.
One of my favorites at this time, I tell you, you must have it!

For beginning, here is my first layout : Believe.
I used a paper from the collection Timeless, another of my favorites.
I worked a lot on my background and used very few embellishments.
The chipboard being the main element of my page.

I choose the chipboard " Bordeaux Layered Frame " and I worked with texture paste.
Then I played the inks to give it a patina effect.

On the background I used the stamps Grungy Grid and Scratched with a solvent brown ink and a lot of work with texture paste, beads and others small embellishments gave the final touch of my layout.

I used several small flowers, including the white ones of the collection Heartland Roses and Blooms.
Then I emboss and cut a butterfly from a stamp, with Ginger embossing powder.

One of the details of my chipboard that I prefer is the lace that I glued to the back. It gives a totally shabby effect that I love.

My second layout and the last one are made with the new collection coming out soon: Chesterville

For the first of two: Que sera sera.
I used two papers: Chester and Holmes.
I simply put a brush stroke of black gesso in the top left corner to the bottom of the page. Then I added a piece of Holmes paper and I embossed it with stamp Scratched and Black Sand embossing powder. As the paper has a checkered background I used a stencil with the same pattern. I did the same thing in the other two corners.

Some close-ups:

For the main chipboard Treasured Floral Frame I applied white gesso and Black Sand embossing powder, then, with a brush, I painted some places with purple wax.

I covered the chipboard with white gesso and I embossed it
with Black Sand embossing powder then I applied a purple wax.

All small flowers were painted in purple and embossed
with the stamp Scratched and Black Sand embossing powder.

I used the purple flowers of the collection Courtship Roses.

My last layout for this month: Smile all day long.

For this one I had created also with papers from Chesterville collection.
Background was realised with texture paste and stamps Crackles Textures, Coarse Fabrics and Serendipity Medley, some times used with brown solvent ink and other times with Ginger embossing powder. All the rest was worked with inks and embellishments of different sizes.

I used two chipboards for this project. One from the new collection,Chesterville, that I just embossed with Black Sand embossing powder and the other one, Organic Vine,
that I painted in green ink by playing the shades of color.
The wonderful green flower of Late Winter Lilies was perfect, I also added white roses fromes Heartland Roses and Blooms.

Meet our February Blue Fern Fan of the Month

One of the most amazing aspects of this creative outlet is that we are able to share our love of paper crafting with people from all over the world!  This month, our Blue Fern Fan is Daria Makarova, from Russia.  You are going to love her style!  Below is a little more about her and one of her stunning layouts using the Blush Collection.

*********

My name is Daria. I am 28 years old and I live in Russia.

I started doing scrapbooking projects in 2011 following the birth of my son.
I do principally layouts, canvases and sometime cards.

My style is mostly mixed media but I like paper projects full of flowers very much.
I can not deny myself the use of beautiful quality paper.  I enjoy the creative process
as much as the finished project because scrapbooking is my rest from household chores.

I am very happy to create projects for Blue Fern Studios.

Each week during this month we will feature a new layout from Daria, so be sure not to miss it!

Memoires Collection with Kathleen White

Today we wrap up the month of January with the final layouts from Kathleen White, our Blue Fern Fan of the Month.   It has been a joy to have Kathleen with us.   Her love of Blue Fern products can be seen in each of her projects and we are thrilled that we have been able to share her creativity with you during this month!

XOXO

Hello all of you Blue Fern Studio fans!  Kathleen here with another layout for you.  This time we are leaving the tropics far behind and landing in Ireland with my second daughter.  We were visiting the beautiful town of Trim.

I used the beautiful Twilight Fable paper with lovely rose bouquets scattered all around.  To begin this layout I used a note punch randomly around the paper.  I used a doily punch on one of the strips cut  from the bottom of the paper and glued equal pieces behind the first punch outs, then backed it all with white card-stock. Then using a stencil and modeling paste I created a linear background to the design.

Next I cut out the note cards, and layered them with lace and chipboard.  The chipboard is so gorgeous.  I used Seafoam Embossing Powder on half of the chippie and painted the rest in red, topped with Pink Pearl Glitter.  The chippie was cut into sections then tucked into the layers.

I selected blooms from the Dark Tropical Lilies and Attic Charm Glitter Roses plus a couple from my stash.  Then using a deep pink rose paint and tea stain brown I painted around the layers topping it off with white splatters.  Finally I added a few red pearl dots from my stash and voila we are done!

My Story

Before I share my final layout with you this month I would like to thank Blue Fern Studios for choosing me as their "Fan" of the month.  It has been a wonderful honor and opportunity to work alongside the very talented BFS design team.  I absolutely adore Blue Fern Studio products from their gorgeous paper collections and coordinating blooms, to embossing powders and everything else!

This is my son when he was a tot.  I have had this photo in my pile of pics to scrap for years!  Then I saw this gorgeous paper in the Memoires collection called "Autumn Biography" and I knew it was perfect for this picture.

For the back ground I used a mask and texture paste . After that dried, I layered my note card using pop dots in between each layer to give height, allowing space for tucking bits and pieces. I cut out the girl holding a journal from the note card "My Story" and tucked it into the foliage.

Finally using some green  and burnt red water colors I shaded in areas around the design.  Then came a few copper micro beads and blue glass beads to complete it.

I keep all of my scraps for future use such as these cut outs I used here from the Autumn Anthology collection.  These collections blend seamlessly together.  When you don't have a lot of blooms just pull apart layers and tuck them into the foliage as shown above.  Then add a few beads to the bottom layer and viola another complete bloom shown below.
