Cover, layout+tutorial from Elena Morgun

Hello, friends, it's Elena Morgun here today

I recently have received the Déjà Vu Collection. It's just wonderful!
I am fond of purple color and I fell in love with this collection at the first sight. New stamps are gorgeous, too! There are background stamps... and also the stamps with the large elements, which I like stamping on the cellum and then use them as separate die cuts.
And todayI'll be inspiring you with the layout and step-by-step video tutorial, and the soft cover for the album on the rings.

"Sweet" layout

There's my Mom on the right on the photo.
The chipboard I pained with spays and the accents are added with watercolors. The word Sweet I covered with Patina from Ranger. I like how convenient it is to work with these bottles, and also this paint adds some dimention to the project. You really should try it out with the chiboard!
Enjoy the video!

    New from Blue Fern Studios!

Welcome to the weekend!  Hopefully you have something fun planned.  Today we would like to show off the new chipboard pieces and sets we have added this week.

    Victorian Corner

    Aloha Flowers

    Quatrefoil Frame

    Novelty Trims

    Radiant Bursts

    Flutter Medley

    Chipper Frame

    Peek-a-Boos

These Peek-a-Boos are something new that designer Michele Singh recently came up with.  What are they for, you ask?  You know those times when you tear back a little bit of your paper (like Yuko has done in a couple of places on her layout below)?  Imagine tucking in one of these beautiful chipboard pieces so it "peeks out".  Love that idea!  And we're sure you will find lots of other ways to use these new pieces.

So, tell us what you think.  We love to receive comments from you.  Which are your favorites?

    Moments in Time with Jelissa

    Hi everyone!

Where has all the time gone to? We're already in the month of May and I'm happy to share a layout I created for Blue Fern Studios using the gorgeous new Deja Vu collection.

    Here is the project:

I picked these papers from the collection as they matched the colors from my photo quite perfectly. It's one of the very few of me with my kids as I'm usually the one behind the camera.

    Here are some close-ups:

Layering gorgeous Blue Fern Studios chipboards with the papers and burlap. I had used quite a number of mediums for this page and the chipboards and some of you have already asked for the colors as well. These can be found in my personal blog post.

My title piece, from "Petite Cartes", and more layering with chipboard, papers and lace.

    My usual floral cluster.

Some details of the lace and chipboard, which I colored to look like the background paper.

Mini tags made from "Petite Cartes" cut-out.

And here is the start to finish video of how I put this whole page together:

    Blue Fern Studios products used:

Deja Vu collection - Petite Cartes, Friperies
Chipboards - Chelsea Vines, Ironworks Medley, Tangier Page Panel
    Vintage Edges stamp set

And that's all I have for today. Have a great day ahead!

    love,

    Deja Vu Layouts

Hello everyone!  Today we are back with two new layouts from our Creative Team using the amazing new paper collection.......Deja Vu.  You will also see our team using some Blue Fern chipboard (of course!) and some of our new stamp sets.  Enjoy!

First up is this precious layout created by Marta, who told us she thinks the Deja Vu collection is stunning!  In addition to this beautiful paper, Marta has also used the Deja Vu stamp set to add even more of the delicate dangles to her layout.  Chipboard pieces include the Seaside Frame and Capture the Moment title.

Here is a closer look at the Deja Vu stamp set:

This elegant layout was created by Elena who has used a couple of papers from the Deja Vu Collection.
Chipboard pieces include some of the Turkish Bits and a small Postage Frame under the photo.

Here is a close up of the recently released Journey and Halftone Stamp Sets Elena added to the background.

April Sketch Challenge Winner and our Featured Layouts!

It's time for us to announce the winner of our April Sketch Challenge, but we would first like to take a moment to thank all of you who entered the challenge.  You sure do make us look good when you use Blue Fern products!

The winner of the April challenge is..............

entry #3 which belongs to Jessika of Sweden.

Jessika, you have won a prize package of Blue Fern Chipboard!
Please send me an e-mail, within the next 7 days,
at {valerie(at)bluefernstudios(dot)com} to claim your prize.
Here's the beautiful layout Jessika created using one of our most popular
chipboard sets, the Shabby Brick Bits!

Each month we like to feature a few layouts from our sketch challenge
because we LOVE to show off how you use our products!  It just so happens that all three of the gorgeous layouts below were created by women from Australia.

The first layout we are featuring this month was created by Alison Bevis.  Alison has used paper from the Ombre Dreams Collection (Shannon's Dream).  The large chipboard piece is a portion of the Industrial Corner, which she altered by heat embossing with several colors, and then adding mist.  What a beautiful look she achieved!  Her title, Love, is from the "Good Vibes" set of chipboard words.  There is absolutely so much to love about this layout, including the precious photo!

Mandie Meier used a gorgeous photo of her daughter for her layout.  The background paper is from the Blue Fern Ombre Dreams Collection.  Mandie accented the layout using the Tattered Diamond Bits chipboard piece as well as the "Love" chipboard piece from the Adore, Love, Cherish set of words.   This layout is so soft and sweet and beautiful!

Lizzy C has done some fabulous fussy cutting using our beautiful Montage Paper Collection.  She added the stunning Wild Flourish Frame and some of the Turkish Bits chipboard pieces to complete the look.  The way Lizzy altered the frame is nothing short of amazing.  We can't think of a better way to show off Blue Fern products!

Congratulations to our winner, Jessika, and the three very talented ladies whose layouts we have featured this month.  We hope you will take a moment to congratulate them!

Our May sketch has been posted.  You can find a link in the right sidebar.
We hope to see lots of amazing layouts again this month.

A Layout & Mixed Media Canvas Featuring NEW Blue Fern Studios Deja Vu Collection by Kim Price

Hello everyone, it's Kim here today and I'm really excited to be sharing more projects featuring the brand new Deja Vu collection along with some amazing new chipboard from Blue Fern Studios.

My first project today is a layout featuring a much loved photograph of my eldest daughter taken recently. This dramatic black and white photo of her coordinates perfectly with the Twilight Garden Frame fitting snugly inside, and I've teamed this piece with a sheet of Deja Vu La Plume patterned paper as my background.

I've given my chipboard a coat of gesso and when it had dried added a lovely splash of color with watercolor paint. I've also gone ahead and added some finer detail with colored pencil for some added definition. Using a second sheet of La Plume patterned paper I've cut out some of the flower images and layered them between my photo and chipboard frame for a layered effect. I just love how the flowers and leaves look on my daughter's hair.

I've also added some paper layers from Deja Vu Petites Cartes patterned paper, cutting around a few selected journaling cards and adhering them in place along with my title "Believe" from the Spiritually Speaking set. When the watercolor had dried on my title I've simply added some doodling using an archival quality permanent fine black marker.

Patterned papers: Deja Vu La Plume and Petites Cartes
Chipboard: Twilight Garden Frame and Spiritually Speaking

For my second project today I've chosen to create a small canvas measuring 8 inches x 8 inches, which is the perfect size to fit the Winter Flake Frame comfortably. I added some brickwork texture using impasto, gesso and then painted the whole background in a washy shade of olive green.

Next I painted my Winter Flake chipboard frame with gesso, adding watercolor paint for a variegated effect and mounted the frame on my canvas with some dimensional tape.

I've fussy cut the teacup image from Deja Vu Petites Cartes patterned paper as well as some of the flower images from my leftover pieces of La Plume patterned paper, and layered them over the top of my frame with dimensional tape for a great 3d effect.

Here's a closer look at some of the fussy cut detail and dimension.

Patterned paper: Deja Vu Petites Cartes and La Plume
    Chipboard: Winter Flake Frame

Thanks for calling in today, I hope you have enjoyed my projects!
