So Much Gratitude and Thanks- by Keren Tamir

Hello Blue Fern Studio Friends
This post is very meaningful to me as its all about Gratitude and Thanks.
There are so many things I'm thankful for that If I list them here I won't have enough space to display my creations this month.

All three of my projects this month were created as a gift for three different people whom I love very much and are very special to me.
I'm Thankful and Grateful that I have them in my life!!!

The first project is a layout created for the parents of this precious baby who has been such a miracle of life.

"Sweet Dreams"

When I asked the parents to give me the color scheme of this baby's nursery they described these colours above which are exactly the colours of some of the papers from the Blue Fern Garden collection. I was then so happy to fussy cut, frames, bows and other images from those papers.

I framed the photo in one of the Ever After frames. I simply primed it with Gesso and then painted it using Shimmerz sky blue paint.

I  treated the Frilly Heart behind the photo with the same gesso and paint to match the Blue Fern Garden Papers.

Finally the title was inked in blue fluid chalk ink.

The next two projects are very near and dear to my heart. I created them for two very special people in my life. Both these people asked me to create Gratitude Journals for them and I thought it would be great to include some Blue Fern Studio Chipboard on the front cover.

"The Book of Gratitude"

I bought 2 hard cover journals at the dollar store. Then, using some of the Blue Fern Garden papers I covered both front and back. To blend the paper seam to the cover's background I used light moulding paste and a brick stencil.

I used the tree from the Descanso Garden Set, a little bird and one of the Veranda cages. I have a tutorial below describing how I created the tree. The bird was painted in silks glaze paint and the bird cage in brown fluid chalk ink.

Here is the tutorial on how I created the texture on this tree:

"The Book of Gratitude"

This is the second book of gratitude I created. Its a little different than the other one but still unique on its own.

I used a different set of Blue Fern Garden papers to cover this journal. Then, I also covered the seams with some stencilled moulding paste. This time I used a different stencil to mimic the pattern on the Blue Fern Garden paper.

I used two different shades of Silks glaze paint to cover all the different flowers on the cover as well as the mini butterfly.
The Lattice fence was roughly covered with gesso leaving parts unpainted.

I try to find things to be thankful and grateful each and every day.
I hope you sit back today and find something to be thankful for.

Thanks so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios Blog

Have a wonderful day!!!

{3} Creations from Patter

Today I have three different projects for youa card, an altered binder, and a layout. All three creations use the new Blue Fern Garden papers. I hope you have had a chance to try them. They are truly wonderful! Now let's look at my creations.

The Card
For my card today, I used the Blue Fern Garden Signature paper. I wanted to create a card that left the paper 'as is' but made it come alive if that makes sense. I did use some of the Blue Fern Garden Timeless paper too for the die cut leaves on the card.
I also used the Little Bird Set chipboard and hid the bird among the flowers. To color him, I added some distress ink, a little Sharpie for the beak, and a pearl for the eye.

The Binder
I needed a new recipe binder so I thought I would alter this 3-ring binder and turn it into my new recipe binder. I used the Blue Fern Garden Parlour and Calling Cards papers along with the Beaded Strings chipboard.
To color the chipboard, I put on a layer of gesso followed by some Shimmerz Texturez. Once that was dry, I randomly painted on some Luminarte Twinkling H2Os to match the papers.

Sweet
And finally, here is my 8 1/2 x 11 layout. I used the March Blue Fern Studios sketch challenge for my page. There is still time for you to play along, so I hope you will join in the fun. Click the sketch at the top of the right column for details.

I used three of the new Blue Fern Garden papersIn Bloom, Boudoir, and Calling Cards. I also used three different pieces of chipboardShabby Brick Bits, Blue Fern Bits (hearts), and the title is from the Valentine Word Set.
To color the Shabby Brick chipboard, I randomly painted on some gesso. I wanted to leave some of it raw since I was coloring the other chipboard on the page. For the Blue Fern Bits (the hearts), I used some embossing powder and various paints to get a glossy and bumpy look. I painted the title from the Valentine Word set with acrylic paint.

"Girly-Girl Layouts" with Kelly Foster

Good morning! And...happy Friday!!!
I hope you have some fun weekend plans - maybe some creating? If so, I hope to inspire you a little bit...
I have two super girly-girl pages to share today!

"Adorable"

I love this picture of my little girl...she looks to me just like a porcelain doll...ivory, smooth skin, sweet pink lips, and a frozen expression to go with it - lol!
Anyway, I wanted to go for a super feminine and soft look here. I started with the Rose Wreath, giving it a good coating of gesso, then let that dry.

Atop the gesso, I randomly dabbed Distress Ink and Distress Paint, then sprayed with water, dried, and repeat. The colors weren't quite where I wanted them, so I went in with my favorite chalk inks and added the green, and a bit more color here and there on the flowers. I think this is such a beautiful "statement piece" for any layout, and i based the entire design of my page around it!

For my title, I simply painted the word "adorable" from the Good Vibes Set white with a few coats of gesso so it would really stand out.

"Love"

Another ultra- feminine page..this one a bit more bright and wild! The colors I chose were based off of my photo 100%. I started with "Love Letters" from the Blue Fern Garden papers, and then cut and layered pieces from "Calling Cards", "In Bloom", and "Picnic". Much of this did end up being covered up, however, by my photo, chipboard, and media.

Next I took the Quatrefoil Panel and have used it in three ways. I cut a large rectangular piece of the panel and it is entwined in my paper layers beneath my photo. Next, I cut a few strips from the panel and added those here and there. I also popped out a few of the "inner pieces" of the panel and scattered them and added them to clusters as well. The panel pieces were all given a coating of white embossing powder, then painted with watercolor paints and Gelatos.

To ground my title, I added a section of one of the Heart Borders, and used the word "Love" from the Valentine Word Set for a simple title...once again painted white.
