January projects by Wendy Scholten

Hi everyone,

I'm so excited and thankful to be in this talented designteam for Blue Fern Studios and share my projects with you today!
My name is Wendy Scholten also known as MySweetCreativeLife and i'm 34 years old.
I am married to Peter for 5 years and we have a little girl, she is 3 years and is my biggest inspiration. I live in Kwintsheul, a small village in the Netherlands.
I work on a daycare for mentally challenged people for almost 14 years now.
I started scrapbooking about 10 years ago and love to try new products to see wat i can make with them. My style is romantic but i also like to use mixed media products.

You can find me here on social media:

I have 3 projects for you so let's start with the first one.

"Baby it's cold outside"

My first page is made with the gorgeous Vintage Christmas collection, i made this photo of our daughter on our last vacation and i loved it so much i knew i had to use this one.
The Christmas papers are so versatile, i decided to make a winter layout instead of a Christmas layout
(also because our daughter didn't want me to make a photo of her in her Christmas outfit, lol)

I used the Auld Lange Syne paper which i cut in half and switched the bottom and top so the flowers ended up in the middle and placed it on the backside of the Wonderland paper. I used lace to cover up the edges of the papers in the middle.

I used a stencil and moddeling paste with glitter to create texture for the background, when that was dry i used the forever stamp and some ink to stamp some images over the moddeling paste.
I  framed my photo with a piece of burlap and some cheesecloth underneath it.

The chipboard pieces were all treated with white gesso and then i used Snow and Silver Bells embossingpowders which i mixed together in different amounts.

For the Blooming curls is used more snow then silver bells and for the Winter Flakes the opposite. The title Baby it's cold outside was embossed with only silver bells and some ice paste and i cut it in pieces to fit my photo.

I used several collections of flowers, the Winter Lilies and Christmas Blooms. To finish it i used a few berries and embellishments from my own stash and put some glitter on some places.

Blue Fern Studios products i've used:
Papers:
Vintage Christmas- Auld Lang Syne
                        Vintage Christmas-Wonderland (Backside)

Chipboard:
Blooming Curls
Winer Flakes
Baby it's cold outside

Stamps:
Forever Stamp Set

Embossing powders:
Snow
Silver Bells

Glitter:
Blue Ice
Dusty Rose

Flowers:
Christmas Blooms
Winter Lilies

Then for number two:

"Follow your Heart"

For my second page i used the beautiful Heartland papers, chipboard and flowers.
I used a stencil, some moddeling paste and the Forever stamp for my background

I used the backside of the Red Rose Ball paper and 3 of the calling cards of the Love Notes paper which i placed under my photo to give it some depth. I also fussy cut some of the flower bits from the Sweet on You paper and tucked them between my photo and the calling cards.

I treated my chipboard first with some white gesso and for the Follow Your Heart title i used Vintage Gold embossingpowder, for the Spirit of Heartland chipboard i used oatmeal embossingpowder.

The Heartland Flowers are gorgeous so i knew i had to use those on my layout and some of the courtship roses. To finish it i used a few embellishments of my own stash.

Paper:
Heartland- Red Rose Ball(backside)
Heartland- Love Notes
Heartland- Sweet on You

Chipboard:

Embossing powders:

Flowers:
Heartland Blossoms

And the last one for this month, number three:

"You have stolen my Heart"

For my third layout i also used the Heartland papers, flowers and chipboard.
I used the backside of the Love Song Serenade Paper and used nothing more than a doily stencil and some moddeling paste for the background.

I really love lace so that's what i used for the background texture together with the Blooming Flourishes chipboard which i treated with white gesso and then used Sand and Sea Embossing powder.

The Heartland XOXO chipboard was treaten with It's a girl Embossig powder.

I cut a small piece of it to make a cluster at the bottom of my page with some lace and flowers.

I used the Heartland Colection flowers as well as the coutship roses and Christmas blooms.
And topped it off with some Glitter and some embellishments of my own stash.

Social Media and YOU, January edition #2

Hello, Blue Fern fans!
We hope your January is going well and that you've had some time to create!

We're back today with more Social Media features that we've found in "social media land."

Asuka Miyamoto  is an amazing paper crafter and teacher. She continually inspires us with her work. Here she has used the Secretary paper from our Frolic collection as her base and fussy cut from several other papers in the collection to create magic! We are especially fond of fussy cut title. You can find Asuka on Instagram @asukamiyamoto or on her  Blog.

Here is one more from Asuka  that we had held from publishing until now. We just have to share this amazing Ampersand using our Courtship Lane collection. Isn't it just beautiful?!!!

****

Here Mabel Sim of Singapore has altered some of our patterned paper with water color to make it her own. She created this piece for our October Sketch challenge. Although she states she has limited Blue Fern supplies, we think the wintry effect on her chipboard is amazing. Please look for more of her work on Instagram @thecraftminded or on her blog at mabsdesigns.blogspot.sg.

Those are are features for this week!
We hope you'll give these ladies some love.

We can't wait to see what YOU are creating!

Hi everyone,

I am very honored and excited to be a part of this fabulous team and share my first projects whit you.

First, let me introduce myself !

I am 39 years old and I live in the French province of Quebec in Canada. My daughter who is now 19 years old,  is the inspiration for almost all my layouts. I love to create texture and add mediums to my layouts.  Flowers and chipboard are also 2 of my most preferred ornaments.

For my first layout, Sparkles,  I used the back of the Noel paper in the Vintage Christmas collection.

I  added a little bit of texture with modeling past and added a very light beige color with acrylic paint.

I used the Swirly CircleShabby Flake, Frosty Flake and Winter Forest chipboard to create a winter scene.

I have embossed my snow flake with Antique Gold, my deer with Mushroom, the trees with Forest and my swirl with Ruby embossing powders.

And I added some flowers from Attic Charm Glitter Roses and Late Winter Lilies to complete the winter scene.

Blue Fern Studios products I have used:

Paper:
Noel from Vintage Christmas

Chipboard:
Swirly Circle
Shabby Flakes
Winter Forest

Winter title

Embossing powder:

Flowers:

Late Winter Lilies

For my second and third layouts, I used the Heartland collection.

For this layout, I have used the back of the Kiss Kiss paper.  I added some texture with modeling paste and some color with distress spray ink.

I have used the Raspberry embossing powder to emboss my 2 chipboard pieces: the title Just the 2 of Us and Spirit of Heartland. Then I applied a thin coat of gesso on my chipboard.

I added flowers from Attic Charm Glitter RosesHeartland BlossomsHeartland Roses and Blossoms and Late Winter Lilies collections.

Then I added a heart from Frilly Heart chipboard kit stamped in green with the Brocade Texture stamp.

Blue Fern Studios products I have used:

Kiss Kiss from Heartland Collection

Chipboard:

Spirit of Heartland
Frilly Heart

Embossing powder:

Flowers:

Late Winter Lilies

Stamp:

For my last layout, I used the back of the Love Bloom paper. Because I love texture, I added modeling paste through a stencil and added a little bit of pink color with ink.

I choose to paint my Turkish Bits, Together is the Best Place to Be and one piece of the Graduated Squares chipboard with with acrylic paint. Then I used some brown and blue ink to add color to my chipboard. I wanted to keep them soft because the main paper and the flowers are very colored.

I used the flowers from the Heartland Blossoms and Heartland Roses and Blossoms to decorate my layout.

Blue Fern Studios products I have used:

Paper:
Love Bloom from Heartland Collection

Chipboard:
