Card and box with Amber & Apricot

Hello and welcome to the Blue Fern Studios blog.
Today I'm sharing a card and matching box I made with the sweet Amber & Apricot collection.

I'm in love with this paper collection! The colors and the sweet flower patterns are so pretty.
I first made the box, using a template maker site,  out of white cardstock.
I covered the box with the patterned papers and added a ribbon.

Then I made the card. I made it so it could fit in the box.

I added lace, chipboard pieces, flowers, cuts from the papers, ribbon
 and a chipboard butterfly.

The card and box are a nice gift for a friend.

Here a list of the BFS products I used:

Papers:
Amber & Apricot

Chipboard:
Valerie's butterflies
Amber & Apricot printed chipboard

Lace:
 Lace 2
Seam binding

Flowers:
Apricot blooms

Thanks so much for visiting!

The Best Moments Panel

Hello all, it's Aida from @aidaville  ..... can you believe it's already April ? The Blue Fern Studios Blog is where pretty things get posted and I am so glad you are back ! Today I have a panel using pops of red from the florals and I LOVE how they add brightness to this piece.

Here are the products I used :
Blue Fern Studios supplies :
Printed Chipboard - Wanderlust  |  Happy Accident
Papers :
Happy Accident #2 - Faux  |  Damsel
Remnants -  Callaway  |   Devonshire  |   Wesfield
Blue Fern Florals
Others :
Collage Medium, Acrylic Paints, Water Soluble Crayons, Texture Paste,
White Gesso, small assorted leaf die-cuts. metal book corners and brads.

I started with a frame shape cut out from the Remnants paper with an external measurement of  height 7" and 5" at the top/bottom. A thin foam backing was glued under the frame. Distress the edges with a sharp craft knife.

Next I trimmed another paper 8" x 6" (or slightly larger than the frame) and adhered the frame to the center. This is the base of the panel and I started working at adding all the elements.

"The Best Moments" is a title you can substitute with any tag you have in your supplies.

I found a metal embellishment that fitted over the title and added a brad to match.

The pops of red from the flowers add such a pretty accent to the panel !

Add chipboard embellishments for dimension.

Thank you for dropping by, remember to come back for more gorgeous work from the Blue Fern Studios Team, see you soon !

Hello friends,
today I am sharing two simple cards.

I have used the HomeSpun paper as the base for these two cards.
I fussy cut several areas and combined with the self adhesive chipboard ,
I started to build up the layers.

I also used the stamped cut out images as elements.

I wrote "Invited"on a small paper die cut and put it into an envelop made with the papers.

Isn't it cute ??

The Blue Fern Studios products I used are :
Paper - HomeSpun

Chipboard - Homespun self adhesive printed chipboard shapes

Stamp -Victorian Goods

Lake House Layout - Vicky Alberto

We moved to a lakefront house a while back (less than 2 miles from our last house)... what a change and more renovations still to be done!  I will share a layout of my previous house at another time...

For this layout I used the gorgeous Blue Fern Amber & Apricot paper collection, coordinating adhesives shapes, tattered walls ephemera, rose leaves and hook & keys chipboard, plus gorgeous flowers. Lots of distressed layers and only a few embellishments from my stash.

On the leaves and key chipboard pieces I used variety of inks and chalks, for a rustic look. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my newest project!

Kleenex Box Cover with Amber & Apricot

Greetings from the Blue Fern Blog. I am back with you today to share a funky little kleenex box cover with you. I used the Amber and Apricot line for this project.
This is definitely outside of my comfort zone! I am learning to think outside the box (joke) more each day. First I sanded the box to help my papers stick better. Then I used the Busy Bee paper to cut out the long sides of the box and Birdsong for the ends.
I used some printed chipboard for an embellishment and some tiny roses from my stash for the sides.

I used a stencil and some molding paste to add texture to the paper. I then painted the pattern with some orange mist. I finished by heat embossing blood orange to my flowers.
I also embossed some Floral Lattice Bits and added them to both sides as well.
This is the side that slides out to slide the kleenex box in.
On the top I used some Blue Fern lace and colored it brown to run along the outer edge. I then added some Blue Fern blooms to each side for a splash of color. Sadly I dosn't know the name of these blooms as they are so pretty.

Products Used

Busy Bees

Printed Chipboard

That's it for today. I hope you like this unique project. I'll see you soon!
All the best! :)

Secret Book Box

Hi and welcome to the Blue Fern Studios blog.
In my previous blog post  I shared two cards made with the Remnants collection.
I love this collection so much that I made another project with them.
This time I made a secret book box.

I had never made a secret book box before so I watched a few tutorials and pictures
and made one myself  from white chipboard sheets.
The box measures about 4,7 x 6,2 x 1,5 inches (= 12 x 16 x 4 cm).

I colored the entire book box with grey ink.

Then I glued Remnants papers on the in- and outside of the box.

I decorated the box with chipboards. These are brown colored and I also added a touch of
copper wax to give them a nice shine.
Furthermore there are some flowers and Remnants chipboard shapes added.

On the inside I glued a free vintage family photo I found on internet.

This book with the secret compartment is a fun way to give a gift to someone or
to hide your own special bits and pieces in.

Here is a list of the products I used:

Patterned Paper:
Remnants collection

Chipboard:
Remnants printed Chipboard shapes
Deja vu border chippie
fancy fob watch

Flowers:

Thanks so much for visiting.

Inspiration Panel

Hello all, it's Aida from @aidaville and welcome back to the Blue Fern Studios Blog. Spring is here with soft, sweet blooms and today I have a panel using the fresh colours of the season. To make this interesting, the decorative elements were layered on top of a Bird House shape which can easily be cut out from patterned paper.

Here are the products I used :

Blue Fern Studios supplies :
Printed Chipboard - Wanderlust  |  Happy Accident
Chipboard Jewelled Page Baubles
Happy Accident #2 - Faux  |  Damsel
Blue Fern Florals
Others :
7" x 9" Flat Back Canvas Panel
Collage Medium, Acrylic Paints, Water Soluble Crayons, Texture Paste,
White Gesso, small assorted die-cuts

Start by painting and texturing the canvas. Next, adhere torn pieces of patterned paper with collage medium.

The Jeweled Baubles were given a thick coat of gold paint and after it dried, swipe lightly with white gesso for a shabby look.

I used a Bird House shape to give a framed structure to this piece and make it easy to build on.  It helps to use cut out a thin chipboard shape first and adhere the paper on top of the shape. I didn't used a fixed size, it's mainly "eye-balled" to fit the middle of the canvas.

Glue the Jeweled Baubles to the front of the Bird House, then trim the Scalloped shape printed chipboard into 2 pieces, and glue it on the top.

Bunch up florals of different colours, securely glue them on top of the chipboards and then insert small branches of die cuts to fill any gaps.

On the apex of the roof, I glued on a Butterfly die-cut and layered the chipboard word "Inspiration" from the Happy Accident Printed Chipboard sheet. The sticker "Collect Beautiful Moments" is an ideal addition to the theme of the piece.

I hope the warmer days ahead with young flowers peeping out, the greenery coming back and more time outdoors will give you a boost of inspired ideas. Remember to come back for more gorgeous work from the Blue Fern Studios Team, see you soon !
