March Inspiration - Megan

Hi there Blue Fern Fans :)

Today I have two layouts for you using Amber & Apricot, and two cards, one using wanderlust and one using Remnants, so lets get to it :)

For this layout, I fussy cut along both edges and popped a large chipboard sheet behind it, before adhering it on top of my second piece of patterned paper.  I could then add my chipboard popping out from along the sides.  Theres also some fussy cutting, utilising the fabulous floral graphics to add more depth to my cluster.

The details: sprinklings of seedlings and splatters of rust colours.

Chipboard has been embossed with Mushroom Embossing Powder - I find myself reaching for this one a lot, its a fab colour!

This photo shows you all the dimension of this layout, lots and lots of layers, makes everything pop!

My second layout today again uses the lovely Amber & Apricot collection.

My background this time is a mixture of stamping, paint splattering and fussy cutting -  this collection was perfect for it! ;)

Again there is a lot of dimension to this layout.  The heart has been painted,  while its till wet covered in red glitter, and then inked the edges with black archival ink.

I love how the seedlings give that extra bit of interest and pop to a project!

My final project for you today is two cards with two different collections.

The first card uses the Remnants Collection.  The Callaway piece of patterned paper is perfect for cards - out of the four different 6x6 patterns, I selected the two I wanted and attached them to my cardstock base.

I used two different colours of seedlings to coordinate with the green/purple colour scheme I had chosen.

The chipboard this time I left bare because I felt there was enough colour without introducing a new one.  The printed chipboard pieces created further interest popping out from my cluster and curled paper edges.

The last project for you today is a card using the Wanderlust collection.  The card was for a colleague who was leaving; young and full of energy I thought this quote was here to a T! :)

Simple but effective there was really nothing to this but I love how it turned out.  Layers of paper with layers of chipboard, some twine and a bit of paint splattering.

You can see here the amount of layering involved.
Thanks for popping by!  I'll see you next month :)

Layouts & Vision Board by France Ringuette

Hi bloggers, I can't believe that it's March already. Time is flying but, but I am enjoying crafting for the Blue Fern Studios Design team. This month, I'll be sharing 2 layouts and 1 off the page project.

Capture the Moment Layout #1

The starting point for this layout was this beautiful picture of my 2 sons and I taken during our Riviera Maya vacation last summer. I wanted to extend on my layout the colors of my picture, so a blue background with a sandy beach.

I chose the beige background from In the Mood - Flirty paper. Once covered with Gesso, I layed my foundation of ink on the top half.

I wanted to have multi tones on my chipboard to give it more dimension. I opted to cover my clock and rectangle pieces in Ginger, Black & Gold and finally a touch of Oatmeal embossing powders.

The bottom of the layout, in order to create a beach feel effect I worked with cheese cloth and wool fibers that I glued with gel medium. Then I added touches of small stones and 4 colors of seedlings: Paprika, Twig, Gold Nugget & Glass.

Once my background was complete, I chose to build my layers. For my title, I chose to use 14 Karat embossing powder. I love the glitter it adds to the layout.

This last picture shows the beautiful Blue Fern flowers, more details on the embossed chipboard & seedlings. I also included Rose Gold glitter but it's impossible to capture the glitter on my picture.

Formidable layout # 2

Time for another magnificent picture of my gorgeous niece with her family. I just love the vibrancy of the red in the picture and chose to use that for my highlights.

Remnants Westfield is my chosen paper for this layout.

I had fun playing with different techniques on this layout. The first step was to emboss different sections with the Green Ivory Embossing Powder.  I used 2 stamps to emboss on my background paper: Weathered Doily & Honeycomb.

I chose to alter the circle chipboard with black gesso, and some waxes to give them an antique look & feel.

I love adding the small sentiments from the Remnants printed chipboard set.

Can you see the top of my tags? I like making my own tags, they make wonderful ornaments for my layering. Here is used leftovers of my Remnants collection.

I wanted to add some shine to my flowers, so I added touches of white & gold glitter

Off the page project: Vision Board 2018

Have you ever made a vision board? This year at work, I hosted a team event where we I invited our team members to create their combined work & personal vision board for 2018.

The goal of a vision board is that if you see you goals on a daily level... you set-up you mind to making them happen.

To set-up my board I used many elements from my Blue Fern collection.

The first step was making my chipboard world map. I wanted it to pop out so I chose Blue Sky embossing powder:

Second elements where to use my gorgeous Blue Fern stamp sets. I love the words Family and Hopes & Dreams. I found them perfect for the family section of my board.

To create sections, I chose to use the frames in the Homespun printed chipboard set:

Here we can see a printed frame and the word Journey, both from my stamp stash.

And lastly, more of the Homespun printed chipboard elements. They are just adorable.

Disclaimer: I did pull off the internet and Pinterest some quotes that I found to complete the vision board.

In the mood and Remnants inspirations by Jennifer Jacques

Good morning Blue Fern Fanatics!

It's my turn today on the Blue Fern Studios blog to present my February inspirations.
Did you see the gorgeous new collection "In the mood"?
Absolutely in love with this pink/red and soooooo romantic collection.

Here is my first layout with those brand new products.

"Fabulous"

First, I  primed my background "Optimistic"paper with clear gesso and, then, applied some modeling paste through a stencil.  A little bit of spray to highlight the design and I was ready to go further.

I made my focal point by layering my picture on chipboard, die cut and a piece of "Pensive" paper.

You can see in the picture below, 2 new colors of embossing powders that just came out with In the mood.  Black gold on the chipboard, and the lovely Pixie dust on my doily die cut.  On the leaves, I chose one of my favorite green color, Forest.

Add some printed coordinated chipies under the picture and some laces across the page
(the black one is 3B and ivory one is lace12).

Then, I added some flowers.
The white one is gorgeous with a little bit of glitter on it.  It is from the Garden Blooms set.
On my title, it is the Ivory embossing powder that I chose.

In final touches, I printed some little tiny dots with the Halftone stamp: you can barely see them loll.
Added some gesso splatters and that was it!

"Beautiful"

For my second inspiration, it is the "Flirty" paper that I chose for my background.

I added some texture on my backgroud with some 3D gel medium on which I sprinkled some
Rose Gold glitters.  Some crackle paste over another stencil, some printing with one of my Blue Fern Studios favorite stamp: Newsprint.

I cut in  parts one of the In the mood printed chipboard  and displayed them under my picture, which is also on a piece of b-side "Pensive" paper.  Also used the circle calendar that came in the coordinated printed chipboard as an embellishment.  The biggest flower  was in the Moody floral flowers set (the pale pink one, that I sprayed a little bit to match the paper's color).

I used 2 colors of embossing powders on my leaves below: Fern and Forest.

Added some enamel dots, more flowers from my stash and, again,
gesso splatters and this one was done!

Last but not least for February,  Remnants collection inspiration!

"Memories"

Here, it's the "Westfield" paper as my backgroud.  As usual, primed with clear gesso.  I used some printed chipboard to build my focal point.  Some lace 7 to add texture, some glitters "In the forest" on the edges of my chipboard and "Meadow" seedlings as final touches on the printed chippies.

Did you see those beautiful flowers below???
My favorite from Blue Fern Studios, the lilies.  Just loooooooove them 💗  The red one from the Harvest Lilies set and the green/brown one from the Wanderlust collection.  Also, under the side of my cluster, a white one from the Remnants blooms ;)
