January Inspirations and Video Tutorial by Lanette

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope your year is off to an amazing start! I must say that I am pretty happy with the way my year is starting out, I am super excited to be joining this amazing team! I really can't wait to share my layouts with you...

But before I do let me introduce myself....

My name is Lanette Erickson I live in southeastern Michigan with my husband two sassy daughters and one crazy doberman. I’m an ex-banker turned stay at home mommy and one crazy crafter.  I have always been a crafty person, but my love of scrapbooking began a little over 13 years ago. Over the years my passion has evolved from pure paper to more of a mixed media affair.  I truly love all mediums and I am happiest when my hands are messy, I love to experiment with new products and try new techniques.
I’m not sure I have a scrappy style, I always try to showcase the picture I a scrapping. But If I had to define it I would say Romantic and playful.

I am super excited to be part of the Blue Fern Design Team! I hope that I my art will help inspire you to get your hands messy and create something you love!

You can find me here:

January Inspiration by France Ringuette

Good morning bloggers,

Today is an exciting day for me, as I am getting the opportunity to share with you my very first projects for Blue Fern Studios.

First, let me introduce myself.

My name is France, I am a french Canadian living in the Montreal area of Canada. I am blessed to have 2 young adult boys and a loving husband. You'll see thru my 2018 projects that my family and our passion for traveling are often the focus points of my projects. I also work in Marketing in the Medical device field. Crafting is my relaxation. I enjoy mainly making scrapbook pages, but you will also see me making cards, tag, art journals and mixed media canvases.

Please come say hi, it's always fun to meet new crafty friends.

Sweet Dreams (Layout #1)

The inspiration from this page started with this amazing paper in the Remnants collection called Devonshire. I fell in love with the printed flowers and birds on this particular page.

I started playing with my chipboards by adding seedlings to cover them, I have to say that I was very pleased with the results and love the dimension this brings to the layout. I used Meadow seedlings.

The title, oh what color to chose is always a challenge I find. I was intrigued by this new embossing powder called Night Sky, at first, I wasn't certain it would have a fit on a boy's page but at the end I enjoy the contrast that it has with the Meadow seedlings, so I opted for this color.

The center of the Remnants bloom flowers has a slight yellow highlight that I covered in white gesso, then glued a mix of mauve seedlings and red wine glitter. The results are amazing.

Around my picture I used night sky embossing powder with weathered doilies stamp set. On my chipboard circle flourish small frame, I used one of the new colors green ivory

Once my layout is done, then I added touches of red wine and icicle glitter to my flowers and some on the paper.

Remember this Day : Sintra Portugal (Layout #2)

If you enjoy traveling and you've never ben to Portugal, trust that this needs to be added to your bucket list. Sintra is a beautiful city that has amazing Unesco sites that are spectacular to visit. When I looked at the stunning paper from the REMNANTS collection, I knew it was perfect for this picture. This paper is Bloomsbury, I loved the old books look at the detailed printing of the flower and clock.
The title is part of the Remnants chipboard series and so perfect for a capturing any precious moment.

I wanted to add a bit more red to the page, so I chose to work with a stencil, light molding past and this amazing Garnet embossing powder. Once the embossing was done, I wanted to add more stamping to the background. I chose to use the Vintage Edges stamp set.

I love adding flowers to my projects, on this layout I added some from the Remnants Bloom and Floral Collections. I also cut out some flowers from the amazing lace 4 set.

For the chipboard, I inked the Shabby Brick bits. Once my layout was almost completed, I added the final touches with splatters of inks, white gesso and touches of Sterling Silver Seedlings.

Love (Layout #3)

I just loved this picture of my niece with the new born son Ayden, I've been enjoying making many pages for her recently. I have to say that this one is simple but oh so happy about how it turned out.

The starting point was this amazing paper from the Happy Accident collection called Incident. I love textured backgrounds and this one does the work for you, so rich in details, I opted not to alter it and just build layers.

I selected to emboss the Chicken Wire Panel with Blue Sky embossing powder. I did the same with the Love title chipie.

On my flowers, I opted to add some touches of white gesso and Blue Ice glitter.

Paper:

Chipboard:

Flowers: Remnants Bloom & Heartland Blossoms

Well I hope you enjoyed my 3 pages for my first series with Blue Fern Studio, I wish you a very crafty 2018 !

Our October Fan of the Month

October is here, and so is our new Blue Fern Fan of the Month, the wonderful Lisa Landry.  Her elegant style is perfect paired with Blue Fern products, which explains why she is such a fan.  So, let's get to know Lisa, and take a look at her first layout for us this month (and get to know one of her beautiful cats, too).

Hi!  My name is Lisa Landry (a.k.a. iluvcats261).  >^..^<
My husband and I live in Lake Charles, Louisiana where we were both born and raised. I have a wonderful daughter, an awesome son-in-law, and two sweet Grand Kitties that live not too far away in Houston, Texas.  Besides my husband an daughter, the loves of my life are my two magnificent Birman cats, Miss Gali and Lucy (mother and daughter), who have become popular in the scrapping community because they are my biggest inspirations.
My daughter introduced me to scrapbooking in 2010 and it’s the first craft I’ve ever been interested in.  Scrapping brings me peace, happiness, enjoyment and relaxation.  My creations are mostly romantic style with an added touch of shabby chic on occasion.  I especially love creating flower clusters, stenciling a pretty design and heat embossing chipboard!  The paper design and the photo I choose guide me through the creation process.
When I discovered Blue Fern Studios I fell in love with their high-quality products and have been one of their biggest fans for a very long time!   I’m extremely honored to be Blue Fern’s October Fan of the Month!  I hope that you enjoy my creations…..and as always, have a wonderful day!  Lisa : )
******************************
For this layout, I used Blue Fern Studios Happy Accident paper collection that has
light blue tones (because of Lucy's eyes) and beige and white (for Lucy's colors).
The photo is adhered to cardboard for a little raised dimension.

BFS Doodle Corners chipboard reminds me of string!
I used them to frame Lucy's adorable photo.
They are heat embossed in BFS Imagine Ink color Starry Night.  WOWOWOW!
What a perfect match to Lucy's eye color!!

Cute black & white Baker's Twine was perfect to zig-zag around the layout edge
since the layout is all about Lucy's beloved string.
To the upper right of the photo, I heat embossed Blue Fern Studios brick stamp
in the Essential Textures set with their Imagine Ink color Oatmeal.

Blue Fern Studios Products used:
Happy Accident paper "Blessing" backside
Essential Textures Clear Stamp Set - bricks
Imagine Ink embossing powders - Oatmeal & Starry Night
Chipboard - Doodle Corners

I hope you enjoyed my first post!
I look forward to creating some new layouts with Blue Fern's gorgeous products!
See you the next few Wednesdays.  Have a great day, Lisa : )

August inspiration by Pascale B.

Hello Sweeties

Today I'm back on Blue Fern Studios blog.

The first layout I have to share with you a layout feature a photo montage I've created.I used the new collection Amber and Apricot.

First, I primed the background with clear gesso. Then I mixed some Autumn glitter with a 3D gloss gel to add a design with a stencil to the background. I want the design to be discreet.

I covered the Corner Flourish with a copper crackle paste. I primed the Fern leaves with gesso, then I painted them with different watercolors. While the watercolors were still wet I sprinkled them with several embossing powders: Lime, Avocado, Chili Powder and Hot Cocoa and I heat embossed them.

When the background was dried, I used the Honey Bits and the Departure stamps to add more texture with different Archival inks.

I cut a few papers to add under the photo. Then I glued all the embellishments: some Apricot and Chesterville Blooms, the Fern Leaves and the Corner Flourish. I added some color to the background.

To finish the layout I added some Twig and Paprika seedlings.

Blue Fern Studios products:

Amber & Apricot collection: Busy bees, Joyful and Tweet Melody
Chipboards: Corner Flourish, Fern Leaves
Flowers: Apricot Blooms, Chesterville Blooms
Stamps: Honey Bits, Departure
Glitter: Autumn
Embossing Powders: Chili Powder, Hot Cocoa, Avocado, Lime
Seedlings: Paprika, Twig

------------------------------------

Here is my second project. I used again the Amber & Apricot collection to lay out this photo of a sculpture from Edith Guillaume.

I primed the background with clear gesso. Then I added a design with a stencil and clear crackle paste. I let dry naturally.

I primed Krystal's border with white gesso. Then I embossed it with different embossing powders to match the color of the statue.

When the background was dry, I added another design with the Departure stamp and the Pear embossing powder. Then I added some color with different watercolors.

I primed the Rose leaves with white gesso before painting them with different shades of green and brown watercolors.

I cut a few papers from the Amber & Apricot collection to add under the photo and I glued all the embellishments with a 3D gel.

To finished the layout I added some seedlings and glitter.

Blue Fern Studios products:

Amber & Apricot collection - Birdsong, Tweet Melody, Yesteryear
Chipboards - Krystal's Border, Rose Leaves
Flowers - Fresh Floral
Stamp - Departure
Embossing Powders - Chili Powder, Nutmeg, Auburn, Pearl
Glitter - Autumn
Seedlings - Paprika, Twig

------------------------------------

Here is my third project. I work with the Happy Accident collection to showcase a photo I've taken of the castle of L'Islette where the tempestuous love affair between the two sculptors Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin was sheltered.

As usual, I primed the background with clear gesso. Then I added a design with a stencil and Graphite paste. When dry I toned down the design with white gesso.

While the background was drying, I primed the Leafy Twigs with white gesso and the Manchester Frame with black gesso. I used some waxes to alter the frame.

I colored the leaves with different shades of green watercolor and sprinkled them with the Avocado embossing powder while they were still wet. After having embossed them, I added some green wax.

I cut some papers to add under the photo in the Layering Cards sheet and I glued all the embellishments with a 3D gel.

To finish the layout I added some seedlings and glitter.
