July Projects by Cathi

Hello my scrappy friends, Cathi here to share my July projects with you using 3 different and gorgeous Blue Fern Studios paper collections.

This collection, Ombre Dreams, is an oldie but goody, one of my favorites, I just love the gorgeous pastel shades, it screams summer to me! I decided to do some beach themed layouts and chose this beautiful Ginger's Dreams page to be my base for this layout.

My girls are now 12 and 13, they look so so young and adorable here making sand castles on Venice Beach in California! I used the gorgeous Seaside Frame to frame my photo, coloring it with Sea Mist Imagine Ink Embossing Powder. I added the fun title Hello Summer on top, using the Buttercup Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

Here you see a cluster of gorgeous Tranquil Blooms and Courtship Blooms. I tucked in a starfish from the Seaside Seashells set  which I had embossed with the Imagine Ink Ginger Embossing Powder and some of my stash of real shells!!

I used a circle mask and molding paste and sprinkled the Imagine Ink Sunshine Glitter into the paste, I love the sandy look it gives!  You can see here the background stamping using my netting stamp from Essential Textures set and the circles from the Halftone set.

Here is my second beachy themed layout, this one is more atmospheric...it is a photo of the girls beach toys left behind while they ran off to dip their feet in the ocean...just a calm serene scene using the Peaceful paper from the Tranquility collection.

I absolutely love this Seaside Charms chipboard which I layered on top of my photo. I embossed it with Petal Imagine Ink Embossing Powder. I did some masking and used molding paste for my background and used one of my favorite patterned background stamps from the Forever stamp set. The butterflies in pink are from the Bourbon Street set.  I tucked in a few layers from the Calling Card paper to add dimension to my layout under the photo.

In my cluster I used another of my starfish chipboards, this time from the Seaside Treasure chipboard set.  I embossed the starfish in  Lime Imagine Ink Embossing Powder. I made a flower cluster with the gorgeous Tranquil Roses and Attic Charm Daisies. I also tucked in more of my stash of seashells!  I used the Inspiration chipboard, embossed with  Petal Imagine Ink Embossing Powder for my title.

Here you can see the Tranquil Blooms flower and more shells and a bit of the coral from the Seaside Treasure chipboard set. I tucked in a kraft tag for journaling.

For my final layout this month I used a vintage image I found of an adorable sleeping child. There was a bird on the photo so I added some bird resins to the layout!  For my base paper I used The Grand Ball sheet from the Love Story collection.

I used lots of layers from the Love Story Calling Cards sheet.  Here you can see lots of the stamping I did using the Texture Circles, Forever set, and the Essential Textures set.  I did some masking and modeling past here as well. My flower cluster is from the gorgeous Tranquil Roses and Lilies set and you can see a little piece from the Tattered Diamond Bits set which I embossed with Cotton Candy Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

Here you can see the gorgeous Organic Vine chipboard piece embossed in Sea Mist Imagine Ink Embossing Powder. I also tucked in some more of the Tattered Diamond Bits under the photo. I added a resin birdbath and birds to fit the design of the layout!

I finished off the layout with the title Stillness which I embossed with the Sea Mist Imagine Ink Embossing Powder, tucking a cute little bird on top of the title!

I really enjoyed picking out some of my favorite papers and collections this month and I thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and visit!!

Hi everyone! It's Marilyn here with you today to share two projects and a video tutorial with the  new beautiful Attic Charm collection.
I worked with the Attic Charm-Haberdashery , Calling Cards and the Spring Posy papers.I gave different techniques to the Spring Posy paper that you can watch all the process in the video tutorial.  I painted and embossed the new Crackle Bites and the Happy word chipboards with a mix of Buttercup with Pearl embossing powders.

I cut out and distressed one of the cards from the Calling Card paper.

I highlighted the title (Happy, Heart, Love chipboard) tracing it with a distress marker. .

June Inspiration with Karolina

Hi Blue Fern Studio's fans! It's Karolina here. Today I would like to show you my June's projects I made using our latest collection Attic Charm.

Paris Paris

Let's start with my first layout with beautiful view of the Paris and Eiffel tower.

I started my work on the choice of photo and paper... It's always a most difficult step of the work ;)
When I was planning my composition I realized I would like to add something interesting accent on my background. So I took another paper I tore it to the stripe. Then I put everything together and I knew it was a very good idea. I added some chipboard pieces, some flowers and medias and that' all! I really like this page, hope you too :)

I covered all  chipboards (except a frame) with using metallic paint in a copper color. A frame I covered with using a turquoise chalk ink.

Papers: Calling Cards, Curio, Generation, Sachet, Haberdashery, Spring Posy
Chipboard: Film Strips, Memory frames, Petite Boutique Frames
Stamps: Forever,

Capture the moment

My second layout is definitely in a marine style. The idea for this work was born a year ago, but I was waiting for a good opportunity ;) First I used a clear gesso on my based paper, then I took unprimed canvas and cut out the sail. I built my whole composition on the top of the sail and I added some marine embellishments like a chain, steering wheels, a net. Finally I added a title using beautiful chipboard - "Capture the Moment". I covered a chipboards with using "seven seas" embossing powder. So everything is matching perfectly ;)

Papers: Curio, Generation, Sachet, Haberdashery, Spring Posy
Chipboard: Capture Words
Embossing powder: Seven Seas
Glitter: Caribbean, Gulf Coast
Stamps: Forever, Halftone,

Wedding cards

Attic Charm collection is very soft and romantic so it will be perfect for all you shabby projects. I prapered two very delicate cards for a wedding to show you how beautiful these papers are. I hope I succeeded.

Papers: Curio, Sachet, Mercantile, Calling Cards, Haberdashery, Spring Posy

Thanks for visiting the blog, see you soon in July!

June Attic Charm Inspiration from Cathi

I have a big interest in genealogy and when I was younger my aunt gave me copies of many photos of our ancestors, I have some really great images and this month I decided to use family vintage photos for all of my layouts! I just love preserving our history a little bit this way.

For my first layout I feature a gorgeous photo of my grandfather Ernie Jones, circa 1910. I just love the way he is dressed and how they have him seated at a table. I used the Attic Charm Attic Key paper as my base and the gorgeous Mercantile paper featuring the chair image to reflect this in the layers I added to the layout. My title Treasure came form the Calling Cards page.

In this close up you can see the gorgeous Attic Trunk chipboard piece which has been embossed with Imagine Ink Embossing Powder in Ginger and "antiqued" with Sage Embossing Powder!  I have added some Attic Charm Daisies and Courtship Blooms.

In this close up you can see the Mini Flourish covered in gorgeous Imagine Ink Fool's Gold Glitter. I did a lot of background work and I have stamped the Halftone stamps, the postmark stamp from the Desk Set stamp set and a favorite of mine the cross texture stamp from Forever stamp set.  I added mist and masking using my texture paste.

There are lots of gorgeous Blue Fern Flowers on this layout, I have used the Attic Charm Glitter Roses, Courtship Blooms and Tranquil Lilies.  I have used the Imagine Ink Fool's Gold Glitter again to color the Vintage Lock chipboard.  I finished off the layout with lots of stitching around the edges.

This next layout features my great grandmother, Helen Tobin, when she was a young girl along with her sister. I just love the pose with the flower basket and chair...they don't look too happy here but I think they had to stand still for ages back in those days to take the photos!  The base of the layout is the gorgeous Haberdashery paper.

Here in this closeup you can see a cutout from the Calling Cards paper, "The Good Old Days". I have also used the Mercantile paper to build up my layers. Lots of Courtship Blooms here and Attic Charm Daisies.

I used the Graduated Squares and embossed them in Cotton Candy Imagine Ink Embossing Powder and added these to my layers. I tucked in another cut out from the Calling Cards paper and added some kraft tags for journaling.

In my final close up for this layout you can see my trio of chipboard (Film Strip, Vintage Locks, and Adorable) embossed in the gorgeous Ginger Imagine Ink Embossing Powder. I have added some stamping of the cross background stamp for the Forever stamp set. I also love the Making Plans stamp as it is a collage of some of my favorite texture backgrounds and depending on what part of the stamp I ink up I can get book page, script, rules, blue prints, or several other gorgeous patterns! The final stamp I added to the background is the needle book stamp from the Needlework stamp set, randomly around the edges. I added some misting and some masking with texture paste and a bit of splattering. To finish off this layout I added some stitching around the edges.

My final layout is a layout I did for the sketch challenge. This photo is of my Great Aunt Marge who had it taken for my Great Uncle Les before he went off to war. He took it with him to remember her and I called this layout Patience because that is what they needed to make it through war time to see each other again and go on to have many years together and many many children!  For the base paper for this layout I chose the Attic Charm Curio paper. I took many cut outs from the Calling Cards paper to layer under my photo.  Here is the challenge sketch if you want to join in!

In this closeup you can see the gorgeous Attic Charm Glitter Roses and Daisies, as well as a Courtship Rose. I have layered the huge beautiful Roman Clock Set - Large, embossed with Imagine Ink Embossing Powder in Oatmeal underneath the photo.

I embossed the Patience chipboard piece with Imagine Ink Embossing Powder in Mushroom as well as flecks of Oatmeal.  I have added lace and pears to match her dress and necklace as part of my layout and I have tucked in some Bits of Honey chipboard pieces into the photo cluster as well.

To finish off the layout I added some background stamping using the gorgeous cross texture stamp yet again from the Forever set. I added the brick wall stamp from Essential Textures and also the clock stamp from the Bird Vignettes stamp set.  I tucked in a tag with some typed journaling about my great aunt's story and added some stitching again to finish off the layout.
