Mixed media on canvas, video, and two cards from Elena

Hi everyone!

Elena Morgun here and today I have a mixed media canvas and two cards to share with you.

"Best of times"

Blue Fern chipboard is very dense that's why creating a mixed media project using it gives so much pleasure. One can cover it with water-based paints and not be afraid for damaging this chipboard.
My grandmother with her father are in the photo. Simple love this image!

Here is the canvas:

Some close-ups:

And here is the start to finish video tutorial for this canvas. Enjoy!

Bente's first post for Blue Fern Studios.

Hi there!...*waving from Sweden*.
My name is Bente and some of you may have seen my creations around the internet for a few years now. I started scrapping about six years ago and never stopped to look back. I've tried many other creative outlets like knitting, sewing and embroidering, but scrapbooking is by far my favourite.
I am a native of Norway although I have lived more than half my life away from there. I have had my permanent address in the south of Sweden for many years, but have spent a few years in exciting places like Chile, Mexico and the UK. Loved that!
My three beautiful daughters are my main inspiration and we also have a cute but spoilt kitty.
I am so happy to be on the 2015 creative team here at Blue Fern Studios!
To see more of my work please visit me here:

Now for my first creations here on the blog:

Here I used the Roman Clock set and the Arrow Words set.
To add colour to the pieces and create a coherent look I coloured the pieces with an ink chalker.

I love the feminine look created by lifting and layering a piece of the pretty Montage paper.

My next page features the youngest members of the family.
-My DD and Lady, the royal princess of our house :-)

Again I used the beautifully decorated papers from the Montage collection.
The large frame is called Shabby Layered Frame.
In the corners you can see some Tattered Diamond bits.

I love these pictures that I took a while back.
I love the look of the enamel dots on the black painted frame.

Finally to round off this post I created a couple of cards using the lovely Sanctuary collection.

I used the pretty Roman Clock set and the Arrow words  here as well.

On this card is also a small piece from the Ironwork Accents set.
The Tattered Diamond bits were painted inked and stamped with a musical note pattern.

Products used: Papers from the Montage collection and the Sanctuary collection, Roman Clock set, Arrow Words set, Shabby Layered frame, Tattered Diamond bits, Ironwork Accents.

I hope you liked my first creations as a DT member for Blue Fern Studios.
Thanks for looking!

Today We Feature YOU!

We love sharing projects created by our Design Team, but we are also always on the look out for layouts, cards, etc. created by those of you who purchase our products.  You do amazing things with Blue Fern paper and chipboard.  Today, we would like to share some of the projects we have found on blogs, in galleries, on Facebook, etc.

Yana Smakula of Ukraine created 3 lovely holiday cards using non-holiday themed Blue Fern chipboard as the focal point on her cards.  Isn't it beautiful the way she dressed up the cards with chipboard?

We spotted the following layout on Amy Lassiter's blog.  We immediately noticed that the paper is from our Sanctuary line.

This layout by Наталья Трофимова was an entry in our December Sketch Challenge.  She chose to use paper from the Ombre Dreams collection as a background for these sweet photos.

Bonnie Friesen of Canada shared this elegant wedding layout with us on our Facebook page.  She used paper from the Ombre Dreams collection and the stunning Blue Fern Frame in the background.

And take a look at this sweet little guy!

And the final layout today was found in an online gallery.  The background is a beautiful paper from our Ombre Dreams collection.  We just love how the two chipboard pieces were altered to coordinate perfectly with the background!

Thanks for making us look so good!

Elena Morgun wiht a video tutorial

Hello!

Elena Morgun here, to share with you my first video as an Educator for Blue Fern Studios, and I am so excited to join this amaizng team!
But first a little about myself:

I'm 25 years old. I live in Ukraine. I am a happy mother to 2 lovely kids.
Scrapbooking is a huge part of my life, and it is more than a hobby by now. I can not imagine my day without scrapping. I am happy to share my tips and knowledge in my tutorials.
I am constantly learning new things. I am playing with new techniques and materials all the time. I am open to the experiments and you can often see their results in my creations. One of the most distinctive characteristics of my style is that I love mixing dark grunge accents with the tender flowers and lace.
I’m delighted to be joining Blue Fern Studios on this new journey!

I hope you enjoy my creations!

Creations with {Patter}

Hello everyone. Patter here today to share my December creations with you. I have two layouts and a card to share with you today. Let's get started.

Trust
This layout is one I did for my chosen word for 2105. My word for next year is 'trust'. I used the Blue Fern Studios Montage collection for this 8 1/2 x 11 page.

The Chicken Wire Panel chipboard piece I covered in texture paste followed by some colored mist. I also only used a portion of this chipboard piece. It comes as a 12x12 piece but is wonderful to cut down to any size you need.

Joy
For the background of this card, I embossed and then sanded the Sanctuary Conservatory paper.

For the sentiment, I used the Chunky Words chipboard and covered it in texture paste.

Smile
If you remember some of my previous layouts, this is the precious baby boy I have been scrapping. Well, that precious boy is now almost one. I cannot believe it! I wanted to give the family more scrapbook pages for their album, so this is the 8 1/2 x 11 page I created for them. I used the newest Blue Fern Studios December sketch, and I also used the newest BFS papers called Sanctuary.

To color the Poppies Collage chipboard, I covered the chipboard in a thick layer of gesso then embossed with various embossing powder colors.

A Layout and a Card with Patter

Today I have a layout and a card to share with you using the new Blue Fern Studios paper line called "Sanctuary." It is a beautiful line that can be used for anything, any time of year. I am going to show you how I used it on a heritage page and a Christmas card. You will see how versatile this new line is! Let's get started.

Cherish
This is my husband back in about 1966. Wasn't he a cutie? Well, I must say he still is. LOL! Anyway, for this page I used, the papers Sanctuary Bountiful and Sanctuary Conservatory. Such beautiful colors for this 8 1/2 x 11 heritage page.
To cover the Splattered Circles and Spare Parts chipboard pieces, I covered them in gesso, and then used some distress stains in various colors.

To cover the Adore, Love, Cherish chipboard piece (the title), I used the same technique as above but then I also added some darker gelatos to the chipboard.

Christmas Wishes
For this card I used the Sanctuary Meadows of Time and Sanctuary Conservatory papers. The chipboard piece is called Seeing Stars.
To alter the chipboard, I covered it in silver Inka Gold and then added some silver and gold embossing. To finish, I added pearls around the edge.

A Perfect Day
This is an 8 1/2 x 11 layout I created for this month's sketch challenge. This is one of my daughter's, and she just had back surgery 3 weeks ago. This is when we took her to the Billy Graham Library for the first time. Her back issues were being controlled at that time with a TENS unit you can see her wearing. Anyway, this 8 1/2 x 11 page not only uses the new November sketch from Blue Fern Studios but it also uses the Montage papers. Yum!
To color the Lattice Fence chipboard piece, I covered in gesso. While the gesso was wet, I added two different colors of embossing powder to emboss the chipboard. And you can see the fun result below.
The Arrow Words chipboard piece was also treated in the same way except once I embossed it, I then rubbed black gesso over the entire piece. I wanted it to pop a bit more off the page, and thus I added the touch of black to this piece. I think it ended up looking like the sepia photo a bit.
