October projects by Yvonne Yam

Hello there! This is Yvonne here to share with you my October projects using Blue Fern Studios chipboard. :) The first is a double page spread.

I generally love my layouts flat so adding little bits of Blue Fern Studios chipboard give it a little texture and interest.

Using the same chipboard piece across the two pages help to achieve a cohesive look even though the base patterns are different.

I used Bits of Honey.

And Enjoy the Journey.

My next project is an 8x8 canvas. The base gold paint covered by lace. The chipboard pieces were painted with gesso and good paint.

I used Craftsman Frame.

And Ornate Medallions.

My last project is a tag. I coloured the chipboard with silver paint and paper-pieced the cushion. I also added some lace to the chair back.

I used Second Hand Furnishings.

Hope you've enjoyed my projects for October. Till the next time!

Autumn is in the Air...Winter is coming...

Hello Autumn... Lisa here, bringing you 2 projects today. I will start out with a card (I'm learning how to create them!!) that reflects the colors of the season. Autumn is in the air in some parts of the world. I used a small piece of the the Chain Link chipboard panel as it reminded me of lattice. I base coated it with gesso and sprayed it using a golden /green shimmery spray.

Here is a close up of the Chain Link chipboard. I just cut it randomly not worrying about cutting a straight line.

I base coated the You Shine words  with white gesso, sprayed it with a color spray and topped it with some clear crackle paint to give it a textured sheen .

                                                               The Optimist Word Set
                                                                        Chain Link

My next project is a layout  using a winter photo, but I kept the colors on the layout in a warm tone, fading Autumn out until the cold sets in...

I base coated the Sign Post and Pretty Weeds chipboard with white gesso and sprayed it with colored spray while the gesso was still wet. It created a pretty speckled look when you dry it with a heat tool.

Just a closeup of the post. I added a small acrylic covered sticker inside the Sign Post.

                                                                    Natural Sprigs Set

                                                                    Village Sign Post 2
                                                                        Pretty Weeds

Thank you for joining me today for my October Blue Fern Studios Post. Keep checking back as all of the Designers will be back to inspire you for days to come.

Valerie Wraps Up September

Hi blog readers.  It's Valerie Serfozo today and I'm here to wrap up the month of September, which has been filled with all things wonderful from 7 Dots Studio.  We have been so excited to share September with them.  Our design team has created some awesome projects combining Blue Fern Studios chipboard and paper from 7 Dots Studio.

And in case you've missed it, the 7 Dots design team has been creating with Blue Fern Studios chipboard this month.  We hope you'll stop by their blog to see how they have used our chipboard.

Now I'd like to share a couple of layouts that I created this month.  The first one is loving titled "Queen Bee", which fits my niece Makenzie perfectly!  Even at a young age, she likes to be in charge of things.  I have used the Messy Head and The Queen of Hearts collections from 7 Dots, along with several pieces of Blue Fern chipboard.

In this close-up you can see the detail on this piece from the graduated circles.  I have really piled on gesso, paint, distress stain, and embossing powder to give it this corroded metal look.  I can tell you that Blue Fern chipboard holds up extremely well to anything you throw on it.

Here again I used some embossing powder on the gold pieces, and added some sparkle to the title.

I love the new "Fancy Weeds" and chose to use them to add some green to my flower cluster.

Blue Fern Products Used:

Graduated Circles (the set contains 5 circles graduating in size from 3" to 11")

The Latest Buzz

Vintage Keys

Pretty Weeds

For my second layout this month, I selected another background paper from the Messy Head collection from 7 Dots Studio.  I love the ombre effect of this paper.  My nephew just turned 2 years old, and I was reminded of the newborn photos I took of him.  There is almost nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby.

I really like to use Blue Fern chipboard in my flower clusters.  On this case, I took apart the Organic Vine Corner and tucked it in several places.  To achieve the variegated coloring, I used two colors of big brush markers and tapped it with a baby wipe while they were still wet.  I like the uneven look of it.

I used one of the Gabrielle Butterflies in the corner of my layout.  After applying gesso and letting it dry completely, I swiped a gelato over the chipboard and blended lightly with a baby wipe, since I didn't want complete coverage.

And for this beautiful Bordeaux Frame, I just used some Distress Ink and Inka Gold.  I enjoy adding several types of products to the chipboard until I get the look I want.

Blue Fern Products Used:

Organic Vine Corner

Gabrielle Butterfly Set

Bordeaux Layered Frame (I only used one piece of this set)

Thanks for visiting today.  Erin will be back tomorrow with our October Sketch Challenge.

An Altered Spool and A Layout by Patter

I am excited to share two creations with you today showing off lots of fun Blue Fern Studios chipboard and the wonderful 7 Dots Studio products.

An Altered Spool
My parents are big antique shoppers/collectors. I love that they are able to pick up little pieces for me as they see them. This spool is one of the pieces they brought to me. I couldn't wait to alter it for my new studio. The 7 Dots Studio Domestic Goddess line was perfect as it matches the colors in my studio. I also used the Blue Fern Miss Tailor Set.

The Blue Fern Studios chipboard I used from the Miss Tailor set
was the dressform, scissors, and sewing machine.

An 8 1/2 x 11 Layout
For this layout, I used the 7 Dots Studio Messy Head collection. There are so many beautiful pieces in this collection that I had a hard time choosing what papers to use. On this page, I also used the Blue Fern Bits, Organic Vine, and Quatrefoil Panel chipboard pieces.
