Cluster Layouts by Kristine Henanger

Hi everyone!
Kristine Henanger here with you today to show
you some projects I have been working on this month!
I hope you enjoy :)

"Boys will be boys"

There is endless ways to use or decorate your chipboard pieces, and one of my favorit way to do it, is to layer the piece with many layers of paint, ink, stamping, crackle paint, glitter, embossing and so on.
On this page I started of by putting gesso on all the pieces. Then I used the same glimmermist as on the background, and finger painted the chipboard, to give it a random look.
I put some more gesso on, allso using my fingers, to make the white more visible again.
Then I used some stamps and just put it all over, before I finished of by putting some ink on the edges to create shadows.

On this layout I have used following chipboard pices from Blue Fern Studios

" Boys will be boys"                         "petite boutique frames"

"picture perfect"

"Today"

I am all about the cluster style, details, layers and colors (especially turquoise)...
But sometimes I like to create a "clean and simple" cluster pages, like this one.
To make the chipboard match my page I put gesso and ink on all the pieces.
To give it a random look I always use my fingers to paint with
(it is a bit messy, so you can use gloves if you like).
On the skies I used sandpaper to create a worn/aged look.
On this layout I have used following chipboard pices from Blue Fern Studios:

" Brigitte Butterfly set"                                 " widgetworks"

                                                                      "cloudy skies"

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you found some inspiration here today :)

Projects with Kerryn Lawson

Hello!  Kerryn here with you today for my first post as part of the Blue Fern Studios design team.  It is very exciting indeed!

I live in South Australia with my husband and two children.  I have been scrapbooking for about 6 years now and it is a daily obsession.  My husband is the one responsible for introducing me to the world of scrapbooking, a decision he now probably regrets, but I for one am eternally grateful.  I scrapbook in both 8.5x11 and 12x12 and occasionally I dabble in both cards and off the page projects.

Today I would like to share a layout and a card with you.

First up is the layout.  This layout focusses on my son and incorporates some of my favourite Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces.

The widgetworks set has become a go to set for me.  The arrow piece has been simply inked with charcoal ink.

The quatrefoil garden panel is a fabulously versatile piece.  I have cut the panel in two and embossed both pieces with distress embossing powder.  The two pieces were then incorporated into the design in place of patterned paper.

For my card I combined two different Blue Fern Studios pieces to create a lovely floral cluster on the card.

The seasonal wildflowers have been inked with sage ink with white paint and vintage photo distress ink randomly applied to add detail.  The garden daisies have been given a more subtle treatment of sandstone ink, gold perfect pearls and vintage photo distress ink.

Blue Fern in Classic and Modern Styles

Hello dear scrappy friends!
Svetlana Austin here with my June projects.
This post is my last one as a design team member for this amazing company.
It was such a big honor for me to serve this term on the very first design team
together with so many amazingly talented ladies.
But I am surely not saying good bye to any of them or to all the pretty chipboard pieces from BFS.
I will be more than happy to continue using it in my projects.
Now let's see what I have for you today.

My first projects is an altered vinyl record.
Here I used the gorgeous Floral Clock chipboard piece.
It is no surprise that this beautiful design so quickly became very popular with so many of you.

To "dress up" the clock I painted it roughly with gesso leaving some areas raw.
Then I stamped it lightly and rubbed some areas with blue liquid pearls.

My next project is a decorated wooden canvas with mixed media touches.
It is very bright and really happy looking.
It is quite small in size - only 8'' by 8''.

Most of the time I start with a layer of gesso on my chipboard pieces.
Here I added a little bit of yellow paint patches on the title word and the Damask Flourish, which I cut in two pieces. I also applied liquid pearls to the Damask Flourish for extra color and shimmer.

I will finish off with a layout in a completely different style.
I made a very bright and modern double pager using some little chipboard pieces from Widgets and Urban Acronyms packs.

Here you can see one of the layouts a bit closer.

Some of the chipboard pieces I painted with acrylic dubber paint and some I left raw.
