Three Beach themed Layouts with the Seaside Cottage Collection by Keren Tamir

Hi Everyone!!
I was thrilled to receive the new Seaside Cottage collection.
I love the beach and being near the ocean. It's my ideal vacation and I go there any chance I get.
I don't live near the ocean, but whenever I go, I love taking photos on the beach and near the water.
I also love collecting shells and then using them on my projects.
I've created three beach themed layouts below.

Here is the first one:

"Calm"

I used the Embark paper  from the Seaside Cottage collection for the background. I stencilled it with a fish scale looking pattern and sprayed it with blue ink.

The Seaside Frame and Flourish were embossed with Blue Fern Studios Oatmeal embossing powder. Then I gave it some blue touch-ups. The calm title was painted in blue and then covered in clear glittery stickles.

Finally, I added Blue Fern Studios flowers and some seashells I collected during one of my trips.

"By The Sea"

Here is my second layout for this month using the Voyage paper from the Seaside Cottage collection.

I actually cut the background paper in half and  connected the two edges in the middle so the sail boat would be in the center. Then I used some paste and stencils to create some wave like pattern to cover the seam.

I used the large Blue Fern Flourish chipboard to give the photo some wave-like movement. I embossed the flourish with Sea Mist embossing powder.
As a title I used part of the calling cards paper and then added some Seaside Lilies, roses and other Blue Fern Studios blooms. I also added shells of course.

"The end of a perfect day"

This is my third layout this month using the Regalia paper from the Seaside Cottage Collection.

I loved creating texture behind my photo by using cheese cloth  like the second layout above. I also used Blue Fern Studios blooms and shells like in my other layouts

To mat the photo I used a couple of pieces from the calling cards paper. I also used the "Seaside Charms" and "The end of a perfect day" title to embellish the layout. I embossed them with the Sea Mist embossing powder.

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Seaside Cottage and Tranquility inspiration layouts by Wilma

Two for the boys.

Our August challenge is a nice one.

And a easy one.
Just use one of three collection.
Seaside Cottage, tranquility or Attic Charm.
My plan was to add three layouts , one for each of these colections.
But because beautiful Switzerland is overcrowded with tourist this saison....
I just coudnt get time enough to do anything creative.
So there was no time for the Attic Charm inspiration layout.
But when you look at the blog,
there has been lots of inspiration already with the Attic Charm collection

For my first layout I used the beautiful Seaside Cottage collection.
Perfect papers to scrap your beach pictures.
For a beachy and masculine feeling I used textured modeling paste,
in my background and on my chipboard.

First I colored the title with distress ink.
Than I added the texture paste with a pallette knife.

The seaside Flourish chipboard piece was first stippled with the paste.
Than I added different colors of embossing powder in the still wet paste.
I heated up just a few parts of the powder.
After it dryed here and there a little raw paste to give that beach feeling.

*******

My second layout has more of a tender feeling.
I wanted a soft natural look.
In the background stamping with a blue color ink that matched perfect with the blue from the paper.
Softened up with white ink.

I love the Wild Field chipboard and I think it matched perfect with the stamped background.
I left it natural and just brushed on a little white ink to set some highlights.
The chipboard is totally flat on the paper, but because of the highlights it becomes depth.
The roses were left in their natural color, just got some white ink here and there.
To keep the page in that soft natural color I left the title just plain .

I hope you will find time to play along with our challenge, there are two more weeks left to join in.

Thank you for visiting the blog.
I hope you liked my post.

Nicole's Seaside Cottage Inspirations

Hello!  Nicole here with you today to share with you my August creations,
all featuring the newest Blue Fern Studios collection called Seaside Cottage!

This collection evokes such a calm, soothing Summer feel, with its beautiful sea-themed papers and lovely coordinating marine chipboard pieces.  Seaside Cottage is definitely a MUST-HAVE paper line to document all your Summer holiday memories which I have done this month.

Island Time

My very favorite paper from this collection is this one called Mermaid.  I have decided to use it as my background for this page featuring a splendid shot of the sailing ship L'Esperance as it was in passage in our area a few years past.  The Island Time title was perfect to go along with the photo.  I created an ombre effect on the chipboard by using 3 shades of embossing powder: In the Navy, Nutmeg and Oatmeal.

I made use of many Blue Fern Studios flowers, some of which from the latest sets designed to go along with this paper line and a few from the Tranquil set.  I added a combination of blue and copper microbeads as well as splatters of different paints to give my page a mixed media touch.

Below, you can see the gorgeous Seaside Flourish and the larger lantern from the Seaside Lanterns set.

I removed the center from the navy blue Seaside Roses to replace it with a brad and decorated my flower cluster with a Whimsy Flourish covered in Oatmeal embossing powder.

Some magnificent papers and chipboard for a magnificent photo!

Summer Vacation

I love creating double-page layouts and I had just the right pictures for this one, to go along with these beautiful papers.  I took these shots during our family Summer vacation in PercĂ©, Quebec two years ago.  Yves was walking on the seashore admiring from afar the famous Rocher PercĂ©.

I choose to use the Summer Vacation chipboard piece as my title and covered it in layers of Stellar Night, Blue Sky, Breeze and Snow embossing powders.

I decorated my page with beautiful blue Seaside Lilies and ivory Seaside Roses along with other flowers from my own stash.  I added pieces of Crackle Bits, covered in Auburn embossing powder, behind my flower clusters to give the illusion of fishing nets.

This is a fabulous new piece called Seashell Frame which I decide to cut in half... using the top half on top of my photo strip and the bottom half peaking out from below.

I sprinkled a little Autumn glitter around my flower clusters and I added some white and blue shimmery paints on my background and embellishments as well as turquoise mist.

I absolutely love this quote to go along with the photos of Yves...
a boy playing on the sea-shore... :)

The End of a Perfect Day

My final layout this month features a super sweet photo of my niece Ella standing ashore, at the end of a perfect day, just before sunset. I used the Icicle embossing powder on the title with a bottom layer of Chili Powder which I found was perfect to go along with the color of the sand on the picture.

Wanting to showcase as much different patterned papers on my layout as possible, I created several tags and slipped them along the ripped and distressed diagonal edge of my page.

Below, you see a piece of the Frolic Mesh covered in Seamist embossing powder to adorn the Blue Fern Studios blooms.

This gorgeous image from the Calling Cards paper went beautifully with my photo and page.
I lined it up with some fussy cut shells and the dolphin from the Ocean Mermaid set.

Also from the Ocean Mermaid set is this fabulous piece on which I used, from the tail tip to the bust, Clover, Peacock, Seamist and Icicle embossing powders.

Oh, how I love this picture!  It seems like the perfect end to my reveal today, showcasing the gorgeous Seaside Cottage line! I hope you have enjoyed my 3 sea-themed projects just as much as I've enjoyed creating them.  I have to say that this DT reveal is my favorite of mine so far.

August Inspiration With Debbie, Featuring Seaside Cottage

Hi everyone, Debbie here with you today to share my projects created with the new Seaside Cottage collection. I showcased 3 different styles, Vibrant and Bold, Soft and Subtle and Romantic.  Michele Singh created the most beautiful collection to capture your summer memories.  To me there is nothing more calm and soothing as a walk on the beach and the water gently touching your feet.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air".

Summer Vacation
I truly enjoyed working on this layout and especially creating with the Seaside Cottage chipboard pieces and mixing various colors of the Imagine Ink Embossing Powders.  I created this layout for a good friend of mine.  Isn't that a fabulous picture!!!  I used the Gala paper for my background.  I added stars with a stencil which I sprinkled with some Mushroom and 14 Karat Embossing Powders and a few paint splatters. Lots of layering under the photo with Calling Cards and Splendor papers.

Love the Seaside Mermaid.  I embossed the body with Oatmeal Embossing Powder and added some chunky glass glitter and Caribbean Imagine Ink Glitter to the tail.

Look at these gorgeous new flowers from the Seaside Lilies and Seaside Roses collections.  I applied some Imagine Ink Blue Ice Glitter to the large blue rose.  Beneath the flowers I used the Seaside Flourish Chipboard.  Lots of embossing.  Grassy Knoll and Verdant Embossing Powders were mixed to create the vibrant green.  A mixture of  In The Navy, Seven Seas and Breeze Embossing Powers for the blue flowers. Tucked away in the lilies I used the Natural Springs chipboard set, embossed with Grassy Knoll, Verdant and 14 Karat.  The anchor was embossed with a mixture of Mushroom and 14 Karat.

The title Summer Vacation was embossed with a mixture of Mushroom and 14 Karat Embossing Powders.

A Walk On The Beach
My next layout features the Relics paper.  Beautiful pastels and details on the paper.  I added some light inking behind my photo and added some flourish stenciling.  Minimal layering under my photo with the Glory paper, both sides.

To the left of the photo I used the Floral Spray chipboard which I embossed with Snow and Breeze Embossing Powders and a little Blue Ice Glitter.  Clusters of flowers including the new Seaside Lilies, Courtship Blooms, Tranquil Blooms and Tranquil Lilies.

I love how the title came out.  A mixture of Snow and Breeze Embossing Powders.

Beach Babe
My final layout was created using the Glory paper for the background.  Love the colors on the paper.  I added some mint inking and mist to various areas on the paper along with some masking using a flower stencil.  Once I applied the modeling paste I sprinkled the flowers with some Petal Embossing Powder.  An added touch with some random stamping and paint splatters.  Lots of layering under the photo using Glory, Regalia, Splendor and Voyage papers.

I cut the Sea Shell Chipboard Frame in half to add some dimension to my layout.  I embossed it with a mixture of Petal, Snow, Mushroom, Sea Mist, Breeze and 14 Karat Embossing Powders.  Love the variation in the colors and how well they compliment the flowers,  Seaside Lilies, Attic Charm Daisies, Tranquil Lilies and Tranquil Blooms.

I wanted a soft look to the title Beach Babe.  To obtain the look I used a mixture of Snow, Petal and Breeze Embossing Powders.  I added some pieces from the Crackle Bits chipboard, embossed with Snow and Petal Embossing Powders under the Attic Charm Daisy.

Blue Fern Studios & The Beach~A Perfect Combination

The latest Blue Fern Studios Seaside Cottage Paper Collection, chipboard, flowers, and embossing powders are the perfect products for scrapping those favorite Summer Memories and creating those "beachy" themed projects that we all love around this time of year!
For my first August project, I used all those gorgeous yummies to create layout that surrounds a photo that my husband took of me and my son, Draven, when he was little in West Palm Beach, Florida. He caught the image as the sun was going down and I just loved the play of shadow and light~so the end of a perfect day.

I started with a layer of Seaside Cottage Embark Paper, and then punched and layered on a piece of  Seaside Cottage Splendor Paper.

I did some stenciling with some texture paste, just enough to accent the gorgeous design on the paper.

Added some texture sand and sand glitter glass at the bottom and then got to layering in all of my details.

I used Seaside Cottage Embark Paper to matte out my photo. Then took a Blue Fern Seaside Charms Chipboard Piece cut the top part off, and heat embossed it with Imagine Ink Petal Embossing Powder, used a clear ink dabber to randomly hit the edges and then heat embossed it with  Imagine Ink Seven Seas Embossing Powder, added some pearl accents, and used it at the top of my photo.

I took the bottom half of the Seaside Charm Chipboard Piece, and embossed the chain link with Imagine Ink 14 KT Embossing Powder, colored each of the individual charms with markers, and added it to the bottom of the photo with a real sea shell.

Next, I added some cheesecloth, and popped on a Blue Fern Dark Tropic Lily, an Attic Charm Glitter Rose, and a Courtship Bloom, tucking in another real Seashell for texture, and then heat embossed a Blue Fern Seaside Lantern Chipboard piece with Imagine Ink 14KT Gold and Seven Seas Embossing Powder.

I took a Blue Fern Perfect Day Chipboard Piece, heat embossed it with Imagine Ink Bonny Blue Embossing Powder, randomly dabbed the piece and then highlighted the edges with a marker.

Here you can see a close up of the detail on the chipboard.
I added on some of my handcrafted Memory Keeper Butterflies to pull out the ocean tones in the piece.

At the top right hand corner of my layout, I used the other part of the Blue Fern Seaside Lantern Set  to create a layer that includes more cheesecloth, a real seashell and more Blue Fern Flowers.

I like to take a side shot of my work, so that you can really see all the depth and character that those Blue Fern Products add to a piece.

For my second, August Blue Fern Studios Project, I created a wonderful Seaside look for a photo of my husband, David and son Draven that I took in Destin, Florida on a family vacation.

I used both sides of the Blue Fern Studios Seaside Cottage Whitewash paper,  tearing, and creating a peek a boo to reveal the bottom layer paper design.

I matted my photo out on a piece of corrugated board that I spray stained and then edged with sand texture paste, and sand glitter glass. I added a netting of cheesecloth and popped on a Blue Fern Seaside Rose and Seaside Lily, along with a burlap sunflower, and canvas leaves.

I then did some stamping with a Blue Fern Textured Elements Stamp to add depth and texture around my photo. I then fussy cut out a Beach Sign from the Blue Fern Calling Cards Paper.

I heat embossed Blue Fern Crackle Bits Chipboard with Imagine Ink Seven Seas Embossing Powder, tucking them in behind my photo and into the peek a boo.
I fussy cut out some of the sailor piece from the Blue Fern Calling Cards Paper, and loved how it added a more masculine, nautical feel to my layout.

Here you can see the 2nd piece that I cut from the papers and added to the bottom corner of the photo.

I took a Blue Fern Summer Vacation Chipboard Piece, and two tone heat embossed it with Imagine Ink Seven Seas and Petal Embossing Powders. Don't you just love all the YUMMY texture those embossing powders add??!!

I added a rope accent to the top corner of my layout and layered on another Blue Fern Seaside Rose & Seaside Lily.

I fussy cut out a fish from the Blue Fern Calling Cards Paper, and added him to the crackle bit inside the peek a boo, and then attached some rope accents.

And here you can see a side shot showing off all those Blue Fern Paper pieces and product!!

For my last, Blue Fern, August Project, I created a soft, vintage look layout that captures the soft sea foam look of the Beach.

I used both sides of the Blue Fern Seaside Cottage Voyage Paper. Designer Michele Singh creates such gorgeous papers and I tried to keep my look fairly clean in order to show off the details that she put into this paper.

I ran a piece of lace down the side to add a Vintage touch, since I was using a wonderful Vintage photo.

I used a Blue Fern Seashell Chipboard Frame to house my photo. I stipple painted it with white gesso, and then randomly dabbed with a embossing ink dabber on the places that I wanted to accent, and then used Imagine Ink Sea Mist Embossing Powder, to add that wonderful, soft sea foam look to the frame.

I then used a Blue Fern Leafy Page Accent that I did the same technique to to add a flourish accent below the frame.

Next came a flower layer of mulberry paper flowers, a Blue Fern Tranquil Bloom, and a brooch accent.

I then created "waves" by tearing white tissue paper and layering them in a wave pattern and accented them with teal glitter glass. I just love how wonderful my handcrafted Sweet Dreams Teal Butterflies looked with this collection!

In the top corner, I took some more of the Blue Fern Leafy Page Chipboard Accents, along with an anchor piece that was left over from the Blue Fern Seaside Charms Piece that I cut down for my 1st August Layout ( I hate waste),

used the same coloring technique as I used on the other chipboard pieces and added on some flowers, and a butterfly.

Here you can see how Delicious that stipple painting and embossing powders look close up. I just love texture!!

Just look at all that dimension those Blue Fern Products add. Even when you scrap in a more clean style, you can add so much visual interest with those amazing products!!

I hope that you have enjoyed all my August Blue Fern Projects, and that you have been inspired to grab some of those FAV family vacation photos or beach elements, and create something beautiful for yourself!! Until next time, Hugs ~Renea
