The latest Blue Fern Studios Seaside Cottage Paper Collection, chipboard, flowers, and embossing powders are the perfect products for scrapping those favorite Summer Memories and creating those "beachy" themed projects that we all love around this time of year!
For my first August project, I used all those gorgeous yummies to create layout that surrounds a photo that my husband took of me and my son, Draven, when he was little in West Palm Beach, Florida. He caught the image as the sun was going down and I just loved the play of shadow and light~so the end of a perfect day.
I started with a layer of Seaside Cottage Embark Paper, and then punched and layered on a piece of Seaside Cottage Splendor Paper.
I did some stenciling with some texture paste, just enough to accent the gorgeous design on the paper.
Added some texture sand and sand glitter glass at the bottom and then got to layering in all of my details.
I used Seaside Cottage Embark Paper to matte out my photo. Then took a Blue Fern Seaside Charms Chipboard Piece cut the top part off, and heat embossed it with Imagine Ink Petal Embossing Powder, used a clear ink dabber to randomly hit the edges and then heat embossed it with Imagine Ink Seven Seas Embossing Powder, added some pearl accents, and used it at the top of my photo.
I took the bottom half of the Seaside Charm Chipboard Piece, and embossed the chain link with Imagine Ink 14 KT Embossing Powder, colored each of the individual charms with markers, and added it to the bottom of the photo with a real sea shell.
Next, I added some cheesecloth, and popped on a Blue Fern Dark Tropic Lily, an Attic Charm Glitter Rose, and a Courtship Bloom, tucking in another real Seashell for texture, and then heat embossed a Blue Fern Seaside Lantern Chipboard piece with Imagine Ink 14KT Gold and Seven Seas Embossing Powder.
I took a Blue Fern Perfect Day Chipboard Piece, heat embossed it with Imagine Ink Bonny Blue Embossing Powder, randomly dabbed the piece and then highlighted the edges with a marker.
Here you can see a close up of the detail on the chipboard.
I added on some of my handcrafted Memory Keeper Butterflies to pull out the ocean tones in the piece.
At the top right hand corner of my layout, I used the other part of the Blue Fern Seaside Lantern Set to create a layer that includes more cheesecloth, a real seashell and more Blue Fern Flowers.
I like to take a side shot of my work, so that you can really see all the depth and character that those Blue Fern Products add to a piece.

For my second, August Blue Fern Studios Project, I created a wonderful Seaside look for a photo of my husband, David and son Draven that I took in Destin, Florida on a family vacation.
I used both sides of the Blue Fern Studios Seaside Cottage Whitewash paper, tearing, and creating a peek a boo to reveal the bottom layer paper design.
I matted my photo out on a piece of corrugated board that I spray stained and then edged with sand texture paste, and sand glitter glass. I added a netting of cheesecloth and popped on a Blue Fern Seaside Rose and Seaside Lily, along with a burlap sunflower, and canvas leaves.
I then did some stamping with a Blue Fern Textured Elements Stamp to add depth and texture around my photo. I then fussy cut out a Beach Sign from the Blue Fern Calling Cards Paper.
I heat embossed Blue Fern Crackle Bits Chipboard with Imagine Ink Seven Seas Embossing Powder, tucking them in behind my photo and into the peek a boo.
I fussy cut out some of the sailor piece from the Blue Fern Calling Cards Paper, and loved how it added a more masculine, nautical feel to my layout.
Here you can see the 2nd piece that I cut from the papers and added to the bottom corner of the photo.
I took a Blue Fern Summer Vacation Chipboard Piece, and two tone heat embossed it with Imagine Ink Seven Seas and Petal Embossing Powders. Don't you just love all the YUMMY texture those embossing powders add??!!
I added a rope accent to the top corner of my layout and layered on another Blue Fern Seaside Rose & Seaside Lily.
I fussy cut out a fish from the Blue Fern Calling Cards Paper, and added him to the crackle bit inside the peek a boo, and then attached some rope accents.
And here you can see a side shot showing off all those Blue Fern Paper pieces and product!!

For my last, Blue Fern, August Project, I created a soft, vintage look layout that captures the soft sea foam look of the Beach.
I used both sides of the Blue Fern Seaside Cottage Voyage Paper. Designer Michele Singh creates such gorgeous papers and I tried to keep my look fairly clean in order to show off the details that she put into this paper.
I ran a piece of lace down the side to add a Vintage touch, since I was using a wonderful Vintage photo.
I used a Blue Fern Seashell Chipboard Frame to house my photo. I stipple painted it with white gesso, and then randomly dabbed with a embossing ink dabber on the places that I wanted to accent, and then used Imagine Ink Sea Mist Embossing Powder, to add that wonderful, soft sea foam look to the frame.
I then used a Blue Fern Leafy Page Accent that I did the same technique to to add a flourish accent below the frame.
Next came a flower layer of mulberry paper flowers, a Blue Fern Tranquil Bloom, and a brooch accent.
I then created "waves" by tearing white tissue paper and layering them in a wave pattern and accented them with teal glitter glass. I just love how wonderful my handcrafted Sweet Dreams Teal Butterflies looked with this collection!
In the top corner, I took some more of the Blue Fern Leafy Page Chipboard Accents, along with an anchor piece that was left over from the Blue Fern Seaside Charms Piece that I cut down for my 1st August Layout ( I hate waste),
used the same coloring technique as I used on the other chipboard pieces and added on some flowers, and a butterfly.
Here you can see how Delicious that stipple painting and embossing powders look close up. I just love texture!!
Just look at all that dimension those Blue Fern Products add. Even when you scrap in a more clean style, you can add so much visual interest with those amazing products!!
I hope that you have enjoyed all my August Blue Fern Projects, and that you have been inspired to grab some of those FAV family vacation photos or beach elements, and create something beautiful for yourself!! Until next time, Hugs ~Renea
