February projects by Karita Vainio

Hi everyone!
I´m happy to be here today with you all!

Today I have a three layouts to share with you
and my first layout is made by following the february sketch.

"Happy" layout of my sweet daughter.

For this layout I have used the beautiful Conservatory and Meadows of Time papers from the Sanctuary collection.
I have added some gesso and mists to the papers and also stamped a little bit from here and there.
Chipboards that I have used are Turkish Bits, Royal Monarchs and Happy.
I have painted the chipboards with Distress Ink  - Walnut Stain, except the Royal Monarch butterfly, which is painted with mists.

Today We Feature YOU!

We've been looking around the Internet for layouts and other projects using our products.  You continue to amaze us with the creative ways in which you alter and use our chipboard, and we love to see you create on our paper!  Take a look at what we have found:

Eila Sandburg of Sweden has used several pieces of Blue Fern chipboard
to create a garden feel for this sweet layout.

This gorgeous layout by 2014 Creative Team member, Maja Stokk, brings together Blue Fern chipboard and paper from our Sanctuary Collection.

We found this layout by Cat444 in an online gallery.  Love the way she used Blue Fern chipboard behind the photo collage layer.  It shows that you don't always have to alter the chipboard.  It's beautiful bare!

Paper from our Sanctuary Collection is the perfect background for this shabby chic, romantic layout that Karen created.

Kimberly Heard has also used paper from the Sanctuary Collection to create this layout featuring a photo of herself and a friend.   The circle frame is a perfect way to frame this photo!

Thanks ladies for making us look so good and inspiring our readers!

2 Layouts and a Gatefold album by Lisa Gregory

Hi There, Lisa here, welcoming you to November! That  means 3 more designs from me to inspire you.

For this first layout, I was in a purple kind of mood. I used Ombre Dreams paper in  Joyces Dream. I loved the purple and blue tones in the paper. I did a little masking with molding paste and chose sprays to enhance the colors. I mounted the paper on a piece of corrugated cardboard and did some distressing  around the edges.

Surrounding the photo I used Tattered Diamond Bits chipboard that were sprayed with spray in 2 colors. I also took apart the Organic Vine chipboard and used it in 2 places on the layout.

I took 1 piece from the Gingers Poppies Set and used embossing powder on it. Then I sprayed it with spray for added color and shimmer.

I tucked some of the Tattered Diamond Bits in between the paper and cardboard in my peekaboo spots around the edges.

For my next layout I wanted to go for the golden theme of Autumn. I used the Montage Collection in Invitation.

I heat embossed gold embossing powder on the Royal Monarchs butterfly. Then I used some German Gold Glass glitter on spots of the wings. Once it was set. I glued on some rhinestones in different colors. It looks like jeweled brooch. This brooch was my inspiration. I didn't want to distract from the beautiful intricate details of the Monarch butterfly, so I only added a few rhinestones.

I treated the Treasured Floral Frame  the same as in the butterfly.

I heat embossed the Blessings chipboard from the Spiritually Speaking set.

This next project is a 6x6  Gate Fold album. I found I could use the word cutouts on the inside along with some room for journaling, or photos, or both!

I used the Blue Fern Garden paper collection in Boudoir for the front, back and inside covers.

The inside tiers were made from a variety of tags, small pictures and wording  from Ombre Dreams and Montage.

I created 3 tiers to the Gate Fold album. There is plenty of room to add pictures and journaling.

The backs of each section would be perfect to place small photos.

I added a small clasp closure to keep the album closed. The Spring Frame was heat embossed using  embossing powder. There is a gold undertone that simply shimmers in the powders and the coverage on chip board is amazing!

Thank You for joining me today for my November Blog post. I hope you visit us often as the Design Team always has gorgeous inspiration for you. Don't forget our Sketch Challenge as well as the arrival of the new Blue Fern Studios paper collection "Sanctuary"!! We are very excited!!
 xoxo

a card, a mini album and a trifold pocket album created by Lisa Gregory

For my first project I created a card that is shaped like a tag. It was easy to create the folded shape. I folded a rectangular piece of white 100lb card stock  and ran it through my Sizzix alterations die placing the fold of the card on the  inside of the die as not to cut 1 side, leaving the fold intact. Then I die cut 2 pieces of patterned paper Ombre Dreams Paper Leslies Dream, and adhered it to the front and back of the card. I left the inside plain white for some handwriting.

I used the fabulous  Fall acorns and  Bits Of Honey on my card. I painted the corns with acrylic paint then spread some crackle paint over it to enhance the colors. I just sprayed the bits of honey with Lindys Stamp gang spray after priming them with gesso.

Here is view of the back of the card when it is open. I strung some seam binding through the front hole in the card,. I spayed the seam binging with Lindys Starburst spray in My Mojito Green to match the die cut leaves on the front of the card.

For my next project I created another mini album in a different style. I used  the Montage Paper Collection using the Wisdom and Fairyland papers..

On the cover I used the smaller piece from the Roman Clock Set Large. The butterfly is from the Royal Monarchs collection. I inked both pieces with Ranger distress ink in Vintage Photo.

I used the Roman Clock Set small on the right hand page, On the left hand page, I used a left over piece from one of the original Blue Fern Studios designs. I save everything! It makes a great frame.

I created a tag with the flower on top and a small key from the Vintage Keys set.

This is just a closeup of the cover. The jeweled piece is a Recollection flower piece and I used burlap and some flower buds tucked underneath.

This is the album closed with twine that I adorned with some beads.

This is the view of the inside of the back cover. I love the pattern on the paper and did not want to cover it up.

My next project is a trifold pocket album. I followed a pattern from a Kathy Orton book on mini albums. I used the  Montage Paper Collection, using the Wisdom and Fairyland papers.Sometimes mixing and matching  chipboard pieces from different collections can match perfectly. That is what I did here. I used  Manor Hinges  and  Damask Flourish to create the design on my cover. I painted them with black gesso.

I added a jeweled brad  to complete the look.

When you open the album, you can see there is plenty of room for pictures and journaling. The waterfall feature can hold many photo's.

This is a view of the back of the trifold. I used black cardstock for the base. I love the black and pink color combination together.

This is the  Damask Flourish  shown on its own.

Here are the little folders and tag cards shown, pulled out of their pockets. Each one opens up to add more photos or journaling.

Thank You for joining me this week. I look forward to creating with more of the gorgeous Blue Fern Studios papers and chip board. Until next time...
xoxo
