Cards with Yana Smakula

Hello everyone! My name is Yana Smakula and I'm beyond thrilled to be a part of Blue Fern Studios for the next few month.
Let me briefly introduce myself. I’m 26 years old and I’m from Ukraine. I’ve been married for a little bit over a year now, no kids but we do have two black cats and we can’t live without them!
I love to travel across the world and meet new people, discover new cultures and just explore. So far together with my husband we’ve been to a few places in Europe, Africa, Asia and USA. Our next dream destination is Madagascar, I hear the nature there is simply breathtaking!
I enjoy scrapbooking and I mostly scrapbook about our travels. My other passion is cardmaking – I enjoy trying new products and techniques, experimenting and creating in different styles.

I have two cards to share, both completely different, one is a clean and simple, and the other – well, you tell me which style it fits best, lol!
Here’s the first card – Thinking of you.

For this card I used the following chipboard pieces from Blue Fern Studios. Butterflies were coloured with white Folk Art paint from Plaid and the flower was roughly covered with Distress paint from Ranger.

Garden Daisies

My next card – a classic Clean & Simple which I am so in love with lately. Its a card with hint of a vacation – endless ocean waters, loud seagulls and lots of blues and aquas.

For this card I used cloud-shaped chipboard. I think its one of the first ones I laid my eyes on! I really like all the different shapes there are in the set.
I covered the clouds with embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder, did that twice to completely cover the chipboard.

Thats all for today from me. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed!

Two layouts and a Tag from Irene

Hello everyone! First of all, I would like to share a layout which I've created based on this month's sketch challenge.

I've painted the Blue Fern Studio's floral clock with some black acrylic paint and detailed it with some metal embellishments, flowers and pearls.

Here is a picture of the chipboard piece used:

My second project is a tag.

I've used a couple of feminine chipboard sets on this tag.

I've painted the mirror with white and later brush a thin layer of glitter on top of it. As for the dress form, I've painted it with black and deco with a small lace flower.

On the perfume bottles, I've painted them with dimensional paint and later covered them with stickers and glossy accents.

Here are the chipboard used:

My last project for this month is another layout.

Here are some close-ups on the chipboard used.

All the chipboard pieces on this layout are misted with paints and later paint over with some dimensional paints.

Hope you all like all these projects. Happy scrapping!

Two Layouts, and a Canvas, with Kelly

Hello Blue Fern friends, happy Friday!! Kelly here, with three projects to share.
First up, this layout of my sweet, sweet girlie, Paisley...

First, I have used the gorgeous Damask Motif, I just love this peace! I painted it with gesso, then hit it with a heat gun to get that awesome bubbly texture. I then went over it with mulitple layers of Lindy's Stamp Gang mists in various pastels, to give it a really beautiful shimmer. I brushed on some Prima chalk ink here and there to accent.

Next up, one of the hearts from the Heart Set. I treated this one in a similar fashion, painted with gesso first, then I sprinkled just a bit of pearl embossing powder, then set with my heat gun, once again achieving the stunning bubbly texture. I then repeated the steps above with mists/ink. I painted a thin border around the edge with gesso, as well.

Next, we have this 8x10 "Joy" canvas...I really had a blast with this one!

Below you can see the beautiful Spring Iris and Garden Daisies, which were a long process of trial and error...I started with the stems, painted them with a green mist, then then dabbed with chalk ink. The flowers were first embossed with Stampendous Embossing Enamel in Aged Wine, then painted over multiple times with various colors of mists until I got the colors right. After they were dry, I used a Sharpie Paint Pen to add some white accents and details.

I blended the bottoms of the stems into the "grassy" background with modeling paste and mists.

Above you can see I used one of the Leafy Page Accents, to add a touch of elegant detail and interest. This piece was embossed with the Aged Embossing Enamel in Aged Green, then once again I used the paint pen.

 And lastly..

On this one I have used the gorgeous Princess Window, which I simply colored with gesso and chalk ink, then outlined with acrylic paint to accent.

Below I have used just a small segment of the Floral Wreath, which I treated in the same manner as the window.
