Courtship Lane inspiration by Pascale

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Blue fern Studios with 3 new projects using the Courtship Mane collection. .

In the first one I chose a photo of my daughter when she was almost 3 years old, no need to say it was some time ago.

And here is the beautiful sketch I follow to make the layout.

You still have time to upload your project until the 31st March here.

I started to add a layer of clear gesso to the background to protect it. While it was drying, I cut several strips in the Est Plaza paper. Then I glued them to the background and added a thin layer of white gesso. When dry, I stamped randomly with an archival black ink with the Garden Frolic design.

I added also a design with the Essentiel Textures and the Snow embossing Powder.

I primed the  French Word with white gesso and the Turkish Panel with clear gesso. Then I colored the chipboards with different colors of Twinkling H2Os.

I used the same colors on the background and the flowers in order to have a monochromatic layout. I finished the page with some glitters.

Blue fern Studios products used:

Courtship Lane collection - Bourbon Ave, Est Plaza, Calling Cards
Chipboards - Turkish Panel, French Words
Stamps - Essentiel Textures, Garden Frolic
Embossing Powder - Snow
Glitter - Dusty Rose, Peridot

-------------------------------------------------

My second layout with the Courtship Lane collection showcase a photo I've taken of my friend during our last photo shoot.

Here are some close-ups:

And a step-by-step video:

Courtship Lane collection - Parkway, TwonGossip
Chipboards - Serenpidity Words 2, Folkart Frame
Stamps - Arcadia Textures, Vintage Edges
Embossing Powders - Sage, Verdant, Ginger
Flowers - Courtship Blooms

-------------------------------------------------

For the last layout I chose to work with the green paper from the collection. It was the perfect match for this photo of the Saint Martin Wash House I've bought during a trip to Rennes (France)

I started to apply a layer of clear gesso. Then I added a design with a light modeling paste and a stencil. While the paste was still wet I sprinkled several colors of embossing powders and heat set them.

I cover the Organic coins with a layer of clear crackle paste and let to dry. When the paste was completly dry, I colored it with a mica powder.

I colored the die-cut leaves with different shades of green and browns that match the photo and sprinkled them with different embossing powders and heat set them.

I used a Primary Element to color the Courtship Roses.

I  finished with splatters of black and white gesso and some random stamping with the Postal Textures stamp.

Blue Fern Studios products used:

Courtship Lane collection - Love Affair
Chipboard - Organic Coins
Embossing Powders - Nutmeg, Ginger, Verdant, Sage, Lime

March Inspiration with Marilyn

Hi everyone! Marilyn here with you today to share two layouts and a video tutorial using the beautiful Courtship Lane collection and the new Courtship flowers by Blue Fern.

"I Think You're Wonderful" Layout
I made this dimensional background with two East Plaza papers from the  Courtship Lane collection and  you can see all the process in the video tutorial.

The Ruth Doily and the title chipboards were embossed with Pearl and Lilac embossing powders.

I put the chipboard title over a piece of cardboard and added the Courtship Blooms and Roses.

I painted the Chelsea Vines with distress ink.

I stamped with the Forever-stamp.

I hope you find some inspiration ...Enjoy the video tutorial!

 "Adorable"
For this page, I used the West Plaza and the Concert Hall papers from Courtship Lane collection.

I embossed the Gazebo chipboard with Pearl embossing powder.

The Adorable (title) and the Whimsy Flourish chipboards were embossed with Iris  embossing powder.

The final touch,  these Courtship blossom and roses that coordinates perfectly with these papers.

Thanks you so much for stopping by....until next time!

March Layouts by Maja

Good morning, BFS Fans, welcome to the blog today :) It's Maja here to share three layouts I made using our latest collection, Courtship Lane.
Ladies first, so let's start with a girly page :)

I like to layer papers for the background and add stamps - and so I did here. For the top layer I chose the Concert Hall paper as the young lady in the photo plays the violin. I also matted the photo with various papers and formed a semi-frame using Whimsy Flourishes, "closed" on the other side of the photo with the Village Sign Post piece embossed with Copper ep. Then I added some flowers and embellies:

The title word "Happy" is embossed with three eps in the purple palette for an ombre effect:

Papers: Calling Cards, Concert Hall, West Plaza, Royal Street
Stamps: Deja Vu, Forever, Vintage Edges
Chipboard: Whimsy Flourishes; Happy, Heart, Love;Village Sign Post
EP: Iris, Lilac, Mystic Plum, Verdant, Copper

For my second layout I opted for a cheerful spring palette of colours. This time the background features only one paper, Parkway, and no stamps.

I used several designs to mat the photo and they fill the beautiful frame Clip Frames set. I added colour to it with two shades of green embossing powders: Sage and Lime. I made the words stand out by embossing them with Oatmeal ep. Together with the large "Handsome" piece (embossed with Honey) they form my title:

Then I added some chipboard accents from the Arrow Words and Directions sets - to highlight them against the green frame I used Copper ep to emboss. I also added pieces of the Chickenwire Panel that I left saute.

I use flowers also on my boys' layouts, as they still don't mind ;) Here I used beautiful Courtship Blooms and Courtship Roses:

Papers: Parkway, Royal Street, Calling Cards
Chipboard: Handsome, Arrow Words, Directions, Clip Frames, Chickenwire Panel
EP: Sage, Lime, Copper, Oatmeal, Honey

And finally my last layout for March for which I chose orange tones of papers and embellishments:

I composed my background by tearing the house image off the West Plaza paper and layering the rest upon the Lover's Lane sheet. Then I added some stamping and a backet pattern using white modeling paste and stencil and then splashed some tangerine, golden and white mists:

Using two pieces from the Circle Groups I arranged a triangle-shaped design under the photo. I embossed them with Ginger ep and added some pieces from the Cogs & Gears set. I embossed them with Nutmeg ep for more contrast and placed upon or inside the circles:

One of the Arrow Words makes my title - I embossed it with Copper ep because it's very glittery and really makes this small piece pop out:

To finish off my page, I added some Courtship Blooms and metal charms:

Papers: Bourbon Avenue, West Plaza, Royal Street
Chipboard: Arrow Words, Circle Groups, Splattered Circles, Cogs & Gears
Stamps: Widgets
EP: Honey, Ginger, Copper, Nutmeg

I like how by selecting papers I could concentrate on main colours of the collection - green, purple and orange - separately to create varied backgrounds and climates for my pages.

That's all for today, thank you for visiting and see you later!

3x Layout inspiration by Wilma

When I got the Courtship lane collection I saw so many possibilities.
It is just hard to decide which paper to use first ;)
My first layout is made after the March sketch.
The picture is not the best quality... but I love it so much.
She was walking and acting like a princess that day, but also princesses get tired and soar feet.

The sketch:

For my background I used the beautiful Royal street paper.
And I fussy cut a  few parts out of the West Plaza paper.

The beautiful chipboard  Symphony  was first gessod, than sprayed with colormist in the wet gesso.
Than I took a white piece of cardstock and depped it here and there.
The white shows through and you are left with a great background for a card and colored chipboard..

A few Blue fern flowers and finishing touches ....

*******

This next  layout was super fun to do.
Playing with color just makes me happy.

My background is made with ecoline watercolor and some Blue Fern Studios embossing powders.
The stamp I used in the background  comes from the Texture1 set .

I cut up the Mod Square panel, and embossed it not to neat with pearl embossing powder.

The last layout for today is also made with the Courtship lane collection :

The chipboard flowerframe and the titel  are colored with Gansai Tambi watercolor.

Thanks for visiting the blog, I hope you liked my post.

It feels like Spring! with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, Blue Fern fans!
Sandi here with you today sharing my March creations using some of our newest products!
This month I'm focusing on Courtship Lane!

"Today"

I've been wanting to scrap this photo for a while even though it's not the best quality.  This sweet little family is expecting twin boys any day! Anyway, this Courtship Parkway paper seemed perfect for an outdoor family photo. Lots of earth tones mixed in with a pinch of purple.
I prepared my background with gesso, stenciling and stamping with the Halftone and the Photography stamps.

Next, I prepared my chipboard and decided to have fun with color this time around. The Seasonal Wildflowers piece is a combination of Sage and Lucky Embossing Powders. Then it was dabbed with gesso. My Graduated Circle piece is just one of this great set of circles, lots for your money! It was prepared with gesso, gelato and Cotton Candy Embossing Powder  .. done randomly.

This is also a good time to point out the new Flowers! Yes, there are coordinating flowers for the Courtship Lane collection, blooms and roses.  I've added a touch of yellow to the white and purple flower and then gessoed all of them. Loving the yellow I added to that purple rose! Kicked it up a notch!

The Today title is from the Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday set and was prepared with gesso, gelato and Honey Embossing Powder. I made the heart and bow portion of the Winter Page Dangle the same as the title and circle chips.

Bits of Honey are left natural and lightly touched with gesso.

Just another great shot of the new Roses and Blooms. (The peach one is from my stash.)

I threw this photo in because you can clearly see the Halftone stamping and you get to see the new flowers one more time.

"Happy"

I was going to save this sweet layout for next month but I decided to hold another completed project and replace it with this one! For once, my post will have 3 layouts using one paper collection!

I prepared my background (Royal Street) with clear gesso and then built layers with stenciling, gesso and stamping with the Garden Frolic, Love Story 2 and the Photography stamps.

I love this sweet photo of a couple of the grandkids. So precious! For photo mat layers I've used the Courtship Lane Calling Cards, and both sides of West Plaza.  Of course, my Butterfly Friends chippy provides yet another layer. It has been prepared with white gesso and then heat embossed with Snow Embossing Powder. You can also see here one of the Courtship purple Roses and a couple of the Courtship Blooms!
My Happy title is from Arrow Words and was heat embossed with Iris Embossing Powder. I snipped off the arrow and added it higher on the photo.

Just the other side of the Butterfly Friends chippy which I cut in half so that it could peek out both sides. Love, love, love how that Iris Embossing Powder looks on the Happy title.

I took this photo to highlight some of the stamping done for adding dimension.

This magnificent Gazebo piece is simply painted white and then inked, stamped randomly and popped up on dimensional tape. I added the Organic Vine Corner to one edge and wow, it looks like it is growing up the Gazebo! Love that effect. Of course, I had to add in some of the new flowers!
The vine is simply inked .. one of my favorite ways to alter chipboard. I like a matte finish.

Just a close-up of the purple Courtship Roses and the light green Courtship Bloom. I made them my own my adding some yellow coloring and microbeads. And isn't that vine to die for?

Blue Fern Studios Products used:
Paper: Courtship Lane Royal Street, West Plaza, Calling Cards
Chipboard: Butterfly Friends, Gazebo, Organic Vine Corner, Arrow Words
Stamps: Garden Frolic, Love Story 2, Photography
Embossing Powder: Snow, Iris
Flowers: Courtship Roses, Courtship Blooms

"Anticipation"

This layout was created for our March Sketch Challenge. We hope you get a chance to play along! I decided to go purple on this one. There is lots of simple background work on this one including some stamping with the Christmas Collage stamp .. yes, really! Then I layered the papers as listed below but my primary background layer is Courtship East Plaza.

I wanted this layout to be all soft and feminine, so my chipboard is simply painted with white gesso. I've used the Serendipity Anticipation title and the Township collage.

Just a little floral close-up and some stamping and ink splattering. I've used some clusters of microbeads here and there for more texture.

I've been wanting to use the Banner Flags chippy and when they showed up on this month's sketch. I pulled one out! So cute!

Just s couple of dimensional shots! Love adding in corrugated cardboard to anything!
