Three Tranquility Layouts with Karine

Hi there, Blue Fern Studios fans,

I hope this post finds you well and that summer is arrived in your part of the world. I'm sharing with you today three layouts I did in the past week or so. I used one of the last collection: Tranquility. I think it's my favorite collection ever!

All You Need Is Love

For this layout, I stepped out of my comfort zone. Orange is a scary color for me, but this Keepsakes paper from the Timeless collection is so beautiful, I couldn't resist.

My main chipboard piece is the Circle Vine. I coloured it with brown ink, and then partially embossed it with Imagine Ink Honey and Chili Powder embossing powders. I just love how it turned out.

As for my background work, I used the Serendipity stamp with brown ink and the Garden Frolic stamp with orange ink. I also used some withe and gold texture paste, to add interest to the background. Brown ink drops complete the work.

My title piece is simply coloured with brown ink.

I must say, my layout is also inspired by the beautiful orange flowers, part of the Tranquil Blooms set. I just can't get enough of those gorgeous flowers. I also used some of the Courtship Blooms.

Serenity

My second layout features the Contentment paper from the Tranquility collection. When I got the collection, I wanted to create something special with this paper. It is just gorgeous. I decided on a layout about me, since I rarely use a picture of me.

For the background, I wanted to match what was already in the paper and that reminded me of sand or some rough texture. I used some stone effect medium with a stencil or simply applying it with a palet knife, and while it was still wet, I sprinkled some Imagine Ink Seven Seas and Honey embossing powders and heated it. I LOVE the result.

I did the same thing with my chipboards (the Crackle Bits). Look at this texture!

My title piece comes from the Serenity, Cam, Hushed set.

To mat my photo, I used the Jubilation and the Calling Cards papers, also from the Tranquility collection.

To embellish, I used two large flowers and some pale yellow lilies from the Tranquil Roses and Lilies set.

To add a bit of interest to my background, I partially stamped using the Serendipity Medley and the Making Plans stamps with blue ink, and the Postal Textures stamps with grey ink.

Perky

My last layout features the Stillness paper from the Tranquility collection. I mated my picture with the Serenity paper, also from the Tranquility collection.

I wanted a masculine feel to this one, so I used the Grid Pieces on which I used clear crackle medium and some brown paint to make the cracks stand out more. I love the result. It matches the grid pattern in the paper. I also used a grid stencil with modeling paste and a grid stamp, along with the Texture 1 and Making Plans stamps sets.

Look at the texture on the chipboards pieces.

My title is part of The Optimist Word set. I left it raw.

To embellish everything, I used the Tranquil Blooms (green) and some Courtship Blooms (kraft and dark brown). Aren't those flowers simply amazing?

June Inspiration With Debbie, Featuring Attic Charm

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today sharing three layouts created with the new Attic Charm paper collection, chipboard, and flowers.  I really enjoyed working with Attic Charm papers, beautiful colors and details.  My first inclination was to use vintage photos on my layouts, but I decided to show how versatile the collection is by using photos of the past and present.

My first layout features the Generation paper and a vintage photo that belonged to  my grandmother.  Not sure who the people are in the picture, but I love it, as they look so happy.  I couldn't help but wonder what the occasion was.   I added some texture to the background paper with some masking, misting with the Imagine Ink Sky Mist and some random stamping with the Romantic Accents stamp.  I added additional texture with torn pieces of paper doilies, some of which I misted with the Sky Mist, gold microbeads and some 14 Karat embossing power.  The layers under the photo are from Calling Cards.

I used two pieces of chipboard here, Treasured Floral Frame and Dangle Bird Ornament which I cut  apart. Both were embossed with a mixture of the Imagine Ink Snow, Mushroom and Breeze Embossing Powers, and  some Blue Ice Glitter. I also used the 14 Karat embossing power on the green leaves.  Love the shimmery look!

Lots of Blue Fern Flowers . . . Attic Charm Daisies, Attic Charm Glitter Roses, Courtship Blooms and Tranquil Lilies!  The small green Courtship Bloom I embossed with 14 Karat embossing powder.

My title is a new chipboard piece from the Attic Charm collection.  I embossed with a mixture of  Snow, Mushroom, 14 Karat and Breeze Embossing Powers along with a sprinkling of Blue Ice Glitter.  Love the aged look of it.

My next layout features the Sachet (side B)paper.    I added some random stamping with the Serendipity Medley and Romantic Textures stamps, along with some masking and paint splatters and inking on the background.   Layers  underneath the photo are from the Mercantile, Spring Posy and Calling Cards papers.

The Floral Spray chipboard was embossed with Petal embossing power and the Bohemian Flowers with a mixture of Petal and Melon embossing powders.

I used the Attic Charm Daisies along with a green Tranquil Bloom and added in a few small Bohemian Flower chipboard pieces.  Tucked beneath the flowers I used the Chelsea Vine Chipboard embossed with Sage and Petal.

The title was embossed with a mixture of Nutmeg, Petal and  Mystic Plum embossing powders.

My final layout was created for the June Sketch Challenge.
I used the Curio paper for the background and added some random masking, inking, paint splatters and stamping with the Bourbon Street and Romantic Accent stamps.   I used the  Calling Cards, Attic Key and Haberdashery papers for layers under my photo.  The photo is my dear friend's sweet daughter.  I edited it to give it a Vintage look.  Clusters of flowers include the new Attic Charm Daisies and Glitter Roses, along with some leaves embossed with 14 Karat Embossing powder.  I added two metal butterflies to each side of my photo embossed with Oatmeal, Breeze and Cotton Candy embossing powders.

I placed a portion of the Iron Signage chipboard underneath my photo which I embossed with a mixture of Mushroom, Oatmeal and Breeze Embossing powders.  To the left you can see a heart and key which I embossed with Oatmeal and Cotton Candy embossing powers.  Tucked beneath the Attic Charm Daisy is the Crackle Bits chipboard, embossed with Mushroom, Oatmeal, Breeze and Cotton Candy embossing power and beneath the Glitter Rose is a Blooming Foliage chipboard piece embossed with Verdant embossing powder. Torn pieces of lace were tucked in various places to give some added texture.

Here I've used the Leafy Rings chipboard embossed with the same mixture of embossing powers as the Crackle Bits.  I added some pink and blue micobeads on the chipboard as well as on the background paper.

Tranquility inspiration by Pascale

Hello Sweeties

Today, I'm up on Blue Fern Studios blog with some new inspiration. In this first layout, I worked with a photo taken during a recent trip in  Ireland of the Kilmore Abbey (co. Galway, Ireland).

I started to apply a thin layer of clear gesso to protect the paper, then I added a design with a stencil and 3D Gloss Gel. When dry, I added some colors to the background.

While the background was drying, I covered the Quatrefoil Panel with clear crackle paste and put it aside to dry too. Later I painted it grey..

I painted the Serenity chipboard with two shades of blue Twinkling H2Os, then I covered it with white gesso and finally I embossed it with the Pearl Imagine Ink embossing powder. The blue color show through the white layers.

I painted the Seaweed chipboards in green and added different colors of Imagine Ink embossing powder to add some texture.

After I've glued all the embellishments, I finished the layout with eggplant glitters.

Blue Fern Studios products:
Papers - Tranquility (Peaceful, Calling Cards)
Chipboards - Quatrefoil Panel, Seaweeds and  Serenity, Calm, Hush
Flowers - Tranquil Roses and Lilies
Imagine Ink - Embosssing Powders (Mushroom, Sage, Ginger, Pearl)
Imagine Ink - Glitter (Eggplant)

----------------------------------------

For this second layout I chose another photo taken in Ireland of a lonely tree.

I'm sure that you certainly noticed that all the Blue Fern STudios's papers have an nice strip at the bottom of each page as can be seen below. Well, I kept all these small strips and I used them to create a texture base.

I glued all the paper strips soft matte gel and covered them with a thin layer of black gesso. When dry, I splattered some white gesso that I've watered down.

While the background was drying, I covered the Mesh Bits with the Rust Paste.

I colored the leaves with a green Twinkling H2O and added randomly some Chili Powder and Verdant embossing powders.

I covered the Blooming Flourishes and the title with white crackle paste and let dry naturally. Then I colored them with a Primary Element and amber Izink.

I added more splatter to the background with the Rust Paste and glue all the emellishments.

Blue Fern Studios products:

Papers : Tranquility (Serenity, Calling Cards)
Chipbords (Mesh Bits, Blooming Flourish and Serenity, Calm, Hushed)
Flowers (Tranquil Blooms)
Imagine Ink - Embossing Powders (Chili Powder, Verdant)
----------------------------------------

This third layout is based on May sketch. I took these photo of the town's belfry during a short visit of Avignon (France).

I started to stamp the background with the postmark collage of the "Journey" set, then I covered the paper with a thin layer of clear gesso.

When the background was drying, I die-cut some branches in a kraft paper that I stamped with the writing circle of the "Textures circles" set and embossed with the Ginger powder.

I colored the die-cut leaves and the "Seaweed" chipboard with green Distress inks and I embossed with several colors (Sage, Verdant, Nutmag and Muschroom).

I primed the "Swan Gate" with clear gesso before covering it with a clear crackle paste. When dry I painted it with a gray Primary Element.

When all the embellishments were in place, I added some colors with differents colors of Twinkling H2O. To finish, I added a design with the "Making Plans" stamp that embossed with the "Mushroom" powder.

May inspiration by Bec

Hi there, today I have my May projects for you.

Beach Wedding Canvas

First up I have a canvas I made as a belated wedding gift for a friend

I began by covering the canvas with the new Tranquillity Collection papers: Serenity and Jubilation. I then used what was left over from these papers to make a photo mat.

I distressed the edges of all the papers and I added modeling paste with a stencil to the background of the canvas.

I used the Persian Ornament Chipboard piece to go under the photo, I coloured this with the Mushroom Embossing Powder.
For the title Love Always I used two different embossing powders in Snow and Seven Seas.

To finish off I embellished this canvas with some of the gorgeous new Blue Fern flowers. I used Courtship Blooms, Courtship Roses and Tranquil Roses and Lilies.

Papers: Tranquillity Collection -  Serenity and Jubilation
Chipboard:  Persian Ornament  Love Always
Embossing Powder: Mushroom, Snow and Seven Seas
Flowers: Courtship Blooms, Courtship Roses and Tranquil Roses and Lilies.

Mini Beach Shadow Box

My next Project is a mini shadow box made with the Tranquillity Collection

I used the Tranquillity paper Jubilation to line the squares inside the box as well as the outside edges and bottom of the box.

Then I used the Seven Seas Embossing powder to colour the top surfaces of the box.
I filled the mini bottles with the Gulf Coast and Blue Ice Glitters

I coated all the Seaside Seashells chipboard pieces with white sand texture paste, and when this was dry I rubbed a little distress ink over the surfaces.

I finished with off with a few real sea shells and Courtship Blooms, Courtship Roses and Tranquil Roses and Lilies.

Papers: Tranquillity Collection -  Jubilation
Chipboard:  Seaside Seashells
Embossing Powder: Seven Seas
Glitter: Gulf Coast & Blue Ice

The Future Belongs to Those who Believe on the Beauty of Their Dreams

And finally today I have a layout to share which I made with the Serendipity collection

I used the Serendipity Fascination paper as my background for this layout, I added some mists and texture pastes for colour and interest. Then I used the Serendipity papers Glee and Calling cards to make a photo mat.

I used the whole Natural Sprigs Set pack and covered all the pieces with white crackle paste. When the paste was dry I coloured them with a green mist and brown distress ink.

To colour the Folkart Frame I used Liquid Pearls in Bisque
For my title I cut one to the calling cards up and spread the words over my page

Papers: Serendipity Collection - Fascination, Glee & Calling Cards
Chipboard:  Natural Sprigs Set & Folkart Frame
