3 Different Ways With Blue Fern by Svetlana Austin

Hello dear friends!
Svetlana is here today to share with you a few different projects I created this month
with Blue Fern Studios gorgeous chipboard.
I will begin with a little romantic frame I altered using some pretty chipboard pieces.

"Home Is Where The Heart Is" Altered Frame

The Princes Window I used for this project acts here rather as a door and it can actually open. I used little metal hinges to attache my window-door to the frame.

I used a sponge brush to apply gesso over my chipboard pieces. It is a very simple way to add some textured shabby look. Then I randomly added a few drops of glossy here and there and sprinkled it over with micro-beads. Once it was dry I rubbed a little gesso over the beads.

"Beautiful St. Petersburg" layout

For this layout I used Village Sign Post and Ornate Medallions.
The Village Sign Post did a great job highlighting that beautiful cathedral in the background of my photo.
I covered it with black distress embossing powder. I love the uneven shiny look it gave to my chipboard -
it looks so real.

Little beautiful pieces of chipboard from Ornate Medallions set are defiantly among my favorites.
They are perfect to create some pretty embellishments to decorate your projects.
I used orange glimmer mist to color this medallion. Once it was dry I covered it with crackle accents.
You see - very simple ways to make your chipboard look perfect for any kind of projects you have in mind!

Decorated Drawer Unit

It have been already a while that I wanted to decorate this drawer unit to use it in my craft studio to store some bits and pieces.
I cut the small Craftsman Frame to make decorative corners. These were sprayed with glimmer mist and covered with Crackle Accents for nice antique look.

Blooming Foliage was also cut in many small pieces to create pretty accents in the flower clusters I added to some of the drawers. I painted them with gesso then rubbed some areas with green ink and some areas with blue liquid pearls. I finished it off with Glossy Accents. I decorated the butterfly in the same way.

A layout, a card and a tag by Camilla

Hi everybody! Camilla here. I am back to share some Blue Fern Studios projects today. I have made a layout, a card and a tag. First a layout with my smiling niece. For my layout I have used some gorgeous swirly chipboards to frame the photo.

To alter the chipboards I first applied Distress Stain (faded jeans) and then dabbed it with white gesso.

Supplies:
074509 Blooming Flourish

Other products used:
Dies (Sizzix), papers (Creative Imaginations), doily, border punches, flowers (Manor House Creations, Prima), alpha stickers (Prima), leaves, digital dies

Then a simple card for every occasion - I haven't added any sentiment and have kept the colours very neutral.

Since I wanted a white washed look on the chipboard to match the lovely papers, I just dabbed it with white gesso.

Supplies:
074530 Symphony Border

Other products used:
Papers: Maja Design: Life By the Sea collection (The east coast)
Other: border punches, thread, die

And finally...my tag. I am going to use it as a card.

I have just painted the chipboard pieces with white gesso and then on the vine chipboard I added some micro beads.

Supplies:

074622 Organic Vine Corner (large)
074561 Country Picket Fence

Other products used:

Papers: Maja Design: Life By the Sea collection (The east coast, Sailing)
Other: gesso, mini pearls, stamp (Pink Paislee), rub-on (Kaisercraft), ribbon, string, digital die, flowers (Prima), leaves

I hope you liked my projects!

See you!

Blog Hop Winner & Some Projects by Erin Blegen~!

Hey everybody! I hope you are all doing well- it's Erin Blegen here today to share with you a couple of projects I created for Blue Fern Studios this month, and I will also be revealing to you the WINNER of the Blue Fern Studios Blog Hop Prize...but of COURSE I'm going to make you wait until you get to the end of my post ;). But if you quick scroll down just to check if your name is there- I don't mind- I'd do the same ;)!!

So let's get started!

"My Joy" {canvas}
Not often do I get a photo of all 3 of my kids at the same time- so I just knew I needed to get this one scrapped. And when I received the beautiful "Country Picket Fence" piece, I had the perfect prop for my little scene.

I started out by creating my background with a bit of masking with texture and color. I then adhered the Country Picket Fence piece and since I wanted to create a snowy, wintery scene, I used a whole bunch of texture paste to create the "snowbank" in which the fence would sit. Some beads and glitter were added as well.

For my title, I used one of the chipboard words from the "Valentine's Word Set". After priming first with gesso, I sprayed it with some glimmer mist and used my finger to dab at it while it was still wet to create the uneven color you see here.

And I also have a card to share with you today:

"1"
Some of you might know Kelly Foster- she's not only a member of the Blue Fern Studios team as well, but she's also my little sister :). In a couple of months here, her 2nd daughter Paisley will be turning a year old and I thought I might get ahead of the game and make her a 1st birthday card!

I used the "Natural Sprigs Set" to accent my flower clusters. Probably one of my favorite chipboard techniques is using my stamps to decorate them. After priming with gesso, use some ink and a favorite stamp to create a quick and easy coordinating embellishment for your project~!

Finally, I've used the adorable heart lock piece from the "Vintage Locks" set. I painted it white before covering with glossy accents and then adding microbeads and clear glitter.

Back to my roots with Eila Sandberg

Hello - Eila here! Lovely to see you again! Thank you so very much to each and everyone who took part in the Blue Fern Studios Blog Hop 8 - 10 February 2013!! Hope you had a really great time hopping along, I sure did! The name of the lucky winner of the Blue Fern Studios Grand Prize will soon be revealed.

Today I'm sharing two pages with you that both take me back to my roots; I'm Finnish by birth and Swedish by upbringing.

Here is my first page.

"Rust" - layout

I know a Finnish photographer whose photos I am allowed to use for my scrapping. She has a wonderful way of capturing little scenes of Finnish rural life, of people and little things that make the Finn in me come alive with many many memories of the countrysides where my mother and father grew up and where I spent all of my childhood summers.

The flourishes were first misted in Gold and Olive Vine before I chalked them in Olive Pastel, Dark Moss, Amber Clay and Pumpkin Spice. Love the rich hues and how beautifully the darker shades accentuate the fine curves of the flourish.

I cut the Country Fence in two and painted it in white acrylic paint before stamping it in red script.

Here is my second page.

"Origins" - layout

If the photo of the tractor is quintessentially Finnish to me, this photo of a red wooden house is equally very Swedish to me. You find these houses in the countryside, always with lush lilac bushes and granny flowers in the flower beds. Often with white ginger bread work lovingly carved by someone a hundred or more years ago.

I am very much into using gold at the moment so of course the scrummy Organic Vine Corners with their intricately cut pattern had to have some of it too. In addition to dousing the chipboard pieces in  gold glimmer mist, I also misted them in Cranberry Zing, Wild Currant and Black Cherry. Makes any chipboard sing with lush opulence!

A Moment In Time With Blue Fern

Hello scrappy friends! Svetlana is here to share with you some more of Blue Fern goodness.
Do you enjoy all the inspiration from our designers? I hope so. On our side, we surely enjoy working with all the amazing chipboard designs Blue Fern Studios bring on.

My first project for today is a layout I created with some cute photos of my son.

"A Moment In Time" Layout

I used a packaging paper from Blue Fern chipboard as a base of my layout. Those papers have very pretty design on it and you surely will not want to thorough it away!
I used A Moment In Time phrase piece, Twiggy Branch and a bird from Icons Set One.

To decorate my chipboard, first I primed it with gesso. After that I covered it with crackle paint. To be honest I wasn't after the cracks, I just wanted this particular color. Next I added some red glitter glue and a layer of glossy accent to the bird and the title. The branch I left in matte. I darkened it a bit with some black ink.

My second project is an altered 3D frame.

Here I used Country Picket Fence and Organic Vine Corner.
I covered the fence with dark brown ink and then added some more black ink here and there. After that I covered it with a layer of glossy accent.

I cut the vine in half to create 2 beautiful flourishes. I inked it in the same way I did with the fence. I sprayed some Perfect Pearls over it to add a little bit of green shimmer. I finished it with a layer of glossy accent.
I think that it is very easy but effective way to dress your chipboard.
