Mixed media Wedding canvas and a layout with video by Wilma.

One of my sons will marry his girlfriend in June.
Not a big wedding with white dress and all....
We just have a nice day high up on the alp where they are living in summer with the animals.
Swiss music , food and the cows .... :)

To remember the day I made them a 11x14 mixed media canvas.
It takes another 6 weeks until they get married , so I had to use a Pinterest picture for now :)
Offcourse I will add their own picture to the canvas.

I started by adding gesso, very rough so I had some texture .
Than I painted Spring blossom , not too exact, it is just a background.
Than I cut out flowers from a old curtain I bought for 50 cents at the driftstore .
You know the thin curtains most old paople have.....
They are great for texture or cutouts like the white flowers here.

Some green tule (driftstore too ) and a few little flowers.
I had this chipboard piece for some time and this was a great opportunity to use it.

The Gazebo piece is stippled with gesso.
After it dryed I mixed gesso and lime paint to get a soft color.
I sprenkled it over the whole canvas including the chipboard and than washed it out random.
This way I keep some white which makes it more interessting for me.

I also used the berry stems , did the same, but keep the paint a little darker .
I added it with a little paintbrush, random again.
********

For my second project I made a mixed media layout.
In the video you will see how I sometimes change my mind during the process...

The chipboard pieces are both embossed .
I used the Chelsea Vines and Butterfly friends
Embossingpowder colors : Verdant and garnet

The titel is stippled with gesso...

Papers I used are from the Ombre dream and Frolic collection.

If you like you can watch my video here, hope you will like it...

April Inspirations with Jelissa

Hello friends!

How quickly time passes and we're into the month of April! Today I'm up on the Blue Fern blog with two creations made from the Serendipity and Courtship Lane collection.

My first share is this layout using Courtship Lane papers. I chose pink (yes!) because it matches the boys' T-shirt in the photo and also, every time I see them, my heart is just filled with love for them. Keeping my background work simple so that the papers can shine.

Some close-ups:

My title chipboard - I made a paste from iridescent medium and mixed it with some pink metallic paint. I was able to get some body and texture out of the mix and make my title more interesting.

The Sweetheart frame which I painted with metallic pink frame and some shimmery pink watercolors.

New flowers from Blue Fern Studios! {Heart} these!

My all time favourite Layering Stems - which I had layered 3 Imagine Ink embossing powders - Clover, Verdant and Grassy Knoll.

Blue Fern Studios products used:

paper: Courtship Lane collection - Town Gossip, Concert Hall, Bourbon Ave, Calling Cards
chipboard: Layering Stems, Sweetheart Frame, Hugs & Kisses
Embossing Powder: Clover, Verdant, Grassy Knoll
Flowers: Courtship Blooms and Courtship Roses

My next layout is created with the Serendipity collection and I love just how much creative space these papers give me. What got my attention was how the colors blended into each other and I wanted to create that in the chipboards as well. With so many lovely quotes in Calling Cards, I ended up using one of them as a title for my eldest boy who has a vivid imagination.

Details in the close-ups:

Cutting up the quote and scattering them all over the page, using them to create a sense of motion.

Snipping up Chelsea Vine chipboard and tucking it in everywhere. I've also used Blue Fern Studios flowers in my cluster. You can also see how I have layered the embossing powders in my background.

My Bird in Flight treated the most fun way - with tissue paper.

More Blue Fern blooms.

Lots of goodies in the background.

The gorgeous duo-tone blue-gold on Swirly Circle chipboard.

And here is the start-to-finish video:

chipboard: Chelsea Vine, Swirly Circle, Birds in Flight

That's all I have for today. Thank you for dropping by!

March Inspiration with Marilyn

Hi everyone! Marilyn here with you today to share two layouts and a video tutorial using the beautiful Courtship Lane collection and the new Courtship flowers by Blue Fern.

"I Think You're Wonderful" Layout
I made this dimensional background with two East Plaza papers from the  Courtship Lane collection and  you can see all the process in the video tutorial.

The Ruth Doily and the title chipboards were embossed with Pearl and Lilac embossing powders.

I put the chipboard title over a piece of cardboard and added the Courtship Blooms and Roses.

I painted the Chelsea Vines with distress ink.

I stamped with the Forever-stamp.

I hope you find some inspiration ...Enjoy the video tutorial!

 "Adorable"
For this page, I used the West Plaza and the Concert Hall papers from Courtship Lane collection.

I embossed the Gazebo chipboard with Pearl embossing powder.

The Adorable (title) and the Whimsy Flourish chipboards were embossed with Iris  embossing powder.

The final touch,  these Courtship blossom and roses that coordinates perfectly with these papers.

Thanks you so much for stopping by....until next time!

March Inspiration With Debbie

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today to share some layouts created with the new Courtship Lane collection.  I had so much fun creating with the new papers.

-Reminisce-
My first layout features the Lovers Lane paper.  Love the details and colors.  I used the Calling Cards paper to layer under the photo of my grandparents. I added some masking and paint splatters to the background paper along with misting using the Imagine Ink Cotton Candy Mist and stamping with the Arcadia Textures stamp.

I used three pieces of chipboard here.  The Poppies Collage under my photo and Bits Of Honey on each side of the photo and Chelsea Vines tucked in my flower clusters.  I embossed the Poppies Collage and Bits of Honey with a mixture of Ginger, Oatmeal and Cotton Candy embossing powders and  added some Dusty Rose  and Fools Gold Glitter.  The Chelsea Vines were embossed with Sage and Verdant and sprinkled with some Peridot glitter.

My title Reminisce is from the Serendipity Words 2.  I inked it with brown ink and randomly embossed with Ginger, Oatmeal and Cotton Candy embossing powers.  I love the aged effect.

Serendipity Inspiration by Pascale

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Blue Fern Studios blog with three new projects. The first one showcase a photo of a work of art from the 2015 exhibit in the Castle of Riveau (France).

I started to protect the background as well as the chipboards with a layer of clear Gesso. I covered the Roman clocks with black gesso. Then I stamped them with the Arcadia Textures stamp and embossed them with the Ginger embossing powder. Finally I added some teal color.

I embossed the Organic Vine and the Spring Branch with different colors of embossing powder to give them some texture. I added some Garnet embossing powder on the "flowers" of the Organic Vine and when the powder was still hot I covered it with Merlot glitter.

Having glued all the embellishments, I added more colors and Merlot and Caribbean glitters.

Blue Fern Studios products used:

Serendipity papers - Imagination, Reminescence
Chipboards - Organic Vine, Spring Branch, Roman Clocks Set - Small
Imagine Ink - Embossing Powders - Verdant, Sage, Seven Seas, Ginger, Garnet
Imagine Ink - Glitters - Merlot, Caribbean
Stamp - Arcadia Textures

The second layout showcase another photo of work of art I've taken in Pussigny (Indre-et-Loire, France) during the Pussifolies 2015. The Pussifolies is an annual event (in June) where painters have one day to achieve a paint (4 x 2 m). The canvas are hung in the streets, on the wall of the house and everyone can see how they work.

Again I started with a layer of clear gesso on the background and the chipboards. When the background was dry, I added more blue and gray colors; Then I added a design with the Arcadia Textures stamp and Pearl embossing powder; the result is really subtle.

I painted the title with white gesso and different shades of blue. Then I used the Arcadia Stamp to add a design and I embossed it with the Pearl embossing powder. The blue color showed through the embossing. I colored it again with a darker color to add some contrast.

I covered the Chelsea Vine with a brown primary element. Then I embossed the leaves with the Verdant embossing powder. I added more primary element on top on the leaves and heat them again to melt the primary element with the embossing powder. I covered the branch with Crackle Accent.

I painted the Quatrefoil Panel with the same brown primary element and covered it with a Graphite paste. Then I covered it randomly with a Graphite paste as I want to see the brown color underneath.

Blue Fern Studios products used:

Serendipity papers - Glee, Fascination, Reminisce, Calling Cards
Chipboards - Serenpidity Word 1, Chelsea Vines, Quatrefoil Panel
Imagine Ink - Embossing Powder - Pearl, Verdant
Stamp - Arcadia Textures

The third layout showcase the "Big Clock Gate" of La Rochelle (France).

Like previously, I covered the background with clear gesso. Then I added some random stamping with the Brocade Texture stamp.

I covered the brick wall panel  as well as the brick part of the Flourish Medley with white gesso, I used a sponge as I want to obtain some texture. When dry, I colored it with Burnt Umber.

I colored the leaves of the Flourish Medley with different shades of green. When the colors were still wet I added Verdant and Sage embossing powders and heat set them. I followed the same process on the die-cut leaves using the Verdant embossing powder on the rose leaves and the Sage on the sprig leaves.

Blue Fern Studios products used:

Serendipity papers - Inspiration, Fascination
Chipboards - Flourish Medley, Shabby Brick Panel
Imagine Ink - Embossing Powder - Verdant, Sage
Stamp - Brocade Texture
