More Montage Layouts with Rae

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing three layouts I have made with the Montage paper collection.

"Sweet as Honey" Layout

I used a handful of papers from the Montage paper collection to create this layout, and ripped the papers to create dimension. I had fun playing with these light colors, adding a lot of white with the ripped edges, doily, frame, and bunting!

Here is a close up of the Twilight Garden Frame. I primed it with a heavy layer of gesso, then sprinkled glass filler over it to give it a sugared look. I use the same technique on pieces of the Organic Vine that I cut up and tucked under the flower cluster.

The title is from The Latest Buzz set. I treated it with multiple colors of embossing powder to get this look.

I used the same technique on this small piece of doily bunting.

"Happy Memories" Layout

I just adore this piece of Montage paper, Mercantile. It's a very busy pattern, so I tried to keep my design simple by adding black accents and also choosing a black and white picture that wasn't too busy.

Here is a closeup that captures both pieces of chipboard I used.

For the Large Circle Frame, I simply painted it with one coat of black chalkboard paint, allowing hints of the natural color of the chipboard show through the paint. I added some pearls to the circles in the design, and some flowers over the flower silhouettes on the frame.

The title is two pieces from the Chunky Word Set that I treated using some multicolored embossing powder.

Untitled Fall Layout

Again, I used Montage paper, but added a piece from the Ombre Dreams collection for the layers under the picture. I found this picture on Pinterest.

Here are two closeups of the Floral Wreath that show the distressing of the piece. I sprayed the chipboard with water, and separated the edges to create a level of dimension and "realness" of the leaves and flowers. Once it was curly, I dried it with a heat gun, then added some green and brown mists.

I cut a piece of the Country Picket Fence to add to the bottom corner, and scraped it with a distress ink pad to get that finish.

Lastly, I added a bird from the Little Birds Set. I used brown and gold embossing powders.

Thanks for checking out my projects! Have a great day!

My October Inspiration - by Keren Tamir

Keren here and I really can't believe its October already. The end of the year is just around the corner and I can't believe it will be soon 2015. It feels like it was just yesterday when the millennium started and now we are well into it!!

With our world the way it is nowadays, I felt I needed to create a piece of art that sends some love and peace energy to the world. I painted this "Free Spirit" Peace girl on a A4 water-colour paper pad and used watercolors and Blue Fern Studios Chipboard to bring her to life.

Peace

The Blue Fern Studios Ginger's Poppies were embossed in both Gold and Copper embossing powders. I cut them up into separate pieces to embellish the girl's hair.

The word peace, from the good vibes chipboard set, was simply painted in gold acrylic paint.

Sweet Treasures

For my second project this month I created a layout using the Montage Collection and some bits and pieces from the Blue Fern Garden Collection.

I framed the photo in one of the graduated squares after adding lots of layers. The background is from the Montage collection- Calling Cards paper.

I also used the word Sweet from the Arrow word set and the wild flourish bundle.

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern Studios Blog!!
Have a wonderful day!

Blue Fern Welcomes a New Product Designer!

We are so excited to add a new product designer to our team at Blue Fern Studios.  Join us in welcoming the very creative Glenda Schoepp-Drake!  She brings a whole new style to Blue Fern that she describes as "industrial".  You will see some of her new designs popping up in the very near future.

I will now turn it over to Glenda (don't you just love that name!) so she can tell you a little bit about herself:

I am a little bit quirky, this is how my boss has described me, and let me tell you, people do not think quirky is a good thing till about high school.  Growing up a quirky, chubby, artsy girl is like walking around with a bulls-eye on your back, then one day poof everything that made me weird now makes me unique.  Thanks to scrapping i have met some of the most wonderful people, who are all a little bit quirky.

I live in Canada, northern Alberta to be exact and it is cold, like 7 months of winter cold, minus 40 Celsius cold!  My husband Bernie is all about winter, in fact has 8 snowmobiles, i hate winter so that's a lot of scrapbooking months.  I started scrapbooking when i had my son Alex seven years ago and fell in love with both my son  and scrapbooking.  I have always been artsy and I finally found an outlet that worked for me and my life.

My scrapbook style is industrial and I LOVE anything steampunk, chipboard and stencils are my favorite scrapbook accessories.  It has been a dream of my to design scrapbook products and I am so excited to be working with Blue Fern Studios  and seeing my designs and ideas come to life.  I would like to thank Leslie and crew for welcoming me to the team and I look forward to creating together.

We are so thrilled to have you, Glenda!  You will be a great asset to our team.

This month we found the following projects and would like to share them you.  We think you'll be amazed!

This layout was created by Anna Rogalska using the Blue Fern Spring Frame.

Lynette Jacobs has used the Blue Fern Happiness title for this fun layout.

Priscilla Lim of Singapore created this bold piece using the round Treasured Floral Frame that she colored using Distress Paint.

This elegant layout was created by Angelica Franssen (U.S.) using paper from the Blue Fern Studios Ombree Dreams Collection and the beautiful Layered Iron Bridge chipboard piece.

We love how Bente Fagerburg of Sweden used paper from our Blue Fern Garden collection combined with the Shabby Brick Bits chipboard pieces.

Tracy Christine Funk of Canada recently started a blog, and we were excited to find this layout there,  Tracy has used paper from the Blue Fern Ombre Dreams Collection.

Our elegant titles can add the perfect touch to a layout, as you can see in this layout created by Galina Sazonova.  Galina has used "The Best Day Ever" title for this sweet layout of her son when he was baptized.

Montage cards by Evgenia Petzer

Hello dear friends! Its Evgenia Petzer with you today with 3 cards that all are made using gorgeous new Monatge collection that i just got! Its SO gorgeous! My absolute favourite and must have for all 2014 releases. Seriously, its just G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S.

You will see lots of fussy cutting and layering and my favourite soft pastel colors and of course lots of Blue Fern Studios chipboard.
On the first 2 cards I used quite big chipboards so you can also see that they are good not only for the LOs, but for the cards as well...

Blue Fern Studios chipboards used: Ginger's Poppies

another angle:

My second card, very easy to make, but with these gorgeous papers and chipboards you don't need a lot of othe embellishments...
Blue Fern Studios chipboards used: Rose Bouquet

and my last one for today...
Blue Fern Studios chipboards used: Roman Clock Set- Small, Bits of Honey

The clock is embossed with Zing powder and other chipboard on all the cards is colored with inklingz by Shimmerz.

Have  a great day, Evgenia.
