Jane Austen

Welcome! Today I have a new layout done with the beautiful Jane's Memoirs collection.
These papers are filled with gorgeous colors and graphics.
I chose to scrap a photo based on the character Jane Austen. I backed my photo with various bits of papers from the collection as well as from the ephemera pack.
I used the Regal chipboard frame for this page. I did the layout differently this time. I added all my elements then went over them all with white gesso. I then misted the page trying to compliment the colors on the paper.
 Another close-up.
I used Blue Fern lace and Prima flowers to embellish the page. I also used some mechanicals.
 Another close-up.

I took the title from my page. I cut off just enough of the top to get the title Jane Austen.  I enjoyed working with these papers! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Take care and all the best! :)

Rufus

Hello! I am back today with another layout for Blue Fern Studios using the Eclectic Charm Collection.
This is Rufus. Rufus was my youngest daughter's dog. He was a rescue dog and became an integral part of our family. He was a pitbull with a huge personality! It was a sad day when we took Jessie and Rufus to the vets to put him down. There is a special love between an owner and their dog. To say goodbye is as hard as losing a family member. I decided to make an album about Rufus for Jessie's 30th birthday this August.
I primed my background with clear Gesso and then stamped a clock image with the Fancy Clocks stamp and Amethyst embossing powder on two places. I then did some stamping with the Tattered Newsprint Stamp and black archival ink. I went over everything with a stencil and some Paper molding paste from Finnibair and then colored it all with various mists.
I used some ephemera for added embellishments. I also used a rather old piece of chipboard that I love, the hollow brick from Blue Fern and embossed it with dark brown to lengthen my focal point.
I used some Purple Haze Seedlings on some of the flowers and added a painted butterfly also from Finn's mechanical collection.
A close-up of the blooms I used from both Prima and 49 & Market. I added some sparkles to some and seedlings on others.
I used the new Frilly Frame from the Romantic Life collection and heat embossed it with Wheat and Plum embossing powder.
I used some Melanges from Prima and painted them gold and purple again for added texture and interest.
I colored some alphas with some wine colored mist for my title. And that's all she wrote! I am looking forward to receiving the newest line from Blue Fern Jane's Memoirs this week! I hope to be back with a layout done with this gorgeous new line.

Stay safe and healthy!

All the best! :)

Family

Hi there! Welcome to Blue Fern Studios' blog.Today I would like to share a layout done with the new A Romantic Life collection by Blue Fern Studios.
These lovelies are my daughters. This picture tugs at my heart as they are now fully grown women with children of their own.
I applied a coat of clear gesso to my background to prepare the paper for all the medium I wanted to use. I then used white gesso to tone down the color of the paper a little as I wanted to do a pastel layout. I used a stencil from Finnibair and applied Paper Paste thru the stencil. Before removing it I added some color, yellow, blue and pink. I then took a credit card and ran it along the mediums to pull them together and spread them out. I love this technique.
A few close-ups of this technique.
I also heat embossed some drywall tape with blue, gold and pink to match the colors of my layout an applied then over varies spots on my page.
I used the Hearts a Flutter chipboard pack to embellish this page, It came with three big hearts and several smaller hearts in a variety of shapes. Here you can see I embossed one of the big hearts with wheat embossing powder and the tiny one with Breeze embossing powder.
Large heart done with Breeze embossing powder.
I cut the last big heart in to two pieces and embossed it with It's A Girl and framed either side of my photo.
More of the smaller hearts. I filled in the hollow hearts with Tickled Pink Seedlings for more texture and interest.
I fussy cut some flowers from the page Flirtation and popped them up with some cardboard.
My flower cluster using some Blue Fern and Prima blooms.
This project was very thick as I raised several parts of my page with cardboard and foam dots.
My title from the Family Memories pack. I used both It's a Girl and Breeze embossing powder for this two tone look.

That is all for today! Hope you are staying safe and doing the social distancing. It's hard not to be able to see family or do the things we take for granted everyday. I find it hard every time I hear them extend the state of emergency here in Ontario. Fortunately we only have 3 cases thus far in our town of Gravenhurst.

Take care and all the best! :)
