Frolic inspiration from Elena Morgun

Hello friends!

The weekend is around the corner. And I would like to inspire you with some new projects. Today I have prepared a layout with a video tutorial and ATC set.

This layout I created for a friend as a present. Her son's photo was my main inspiration. I decided to create layers with the help of chipboards. I painted them with Silks this time. I love the color transitions I got here. The layout turned out very shiny.

I enjoy creating ATCs and swapping them. They are quite fast to make, but that doesn't make them less beautiful. Here is my recipe for today: stamp the background, add some elements such as papers, chipboards, butterflies and finish with adding some watercolors. Enjoy your creations!

It's time to announce a winner!

Welcome to the weekend.  We hope you have something fun and relaxing in your plans.  To to those of you in the United States, we wish you a happy Labor Day.  We're here today to choose a winner for our August Sketch Challenge, and to feature some of the outstanding layouts.

Our winner, based on a random draw is.................Entry #9, which belongs to Marie-Eve of Canada.

Congratulations Marie-Eve.  As the winner, you will receive a package of Blue Fern Studios chipboard.  Please send me an e-mail, within the next 7 days, to {valerie(at)bluefernstudios(dot)com} to claim your prize.

Here is the adorable layout Marie-Eve created using a couple of Blue Fern chipboard pieces (the Chain Link Panel, and the Friends title, which is part of the arrow words set).  That title couldn't be more perfect!

Now we have the pleasure of featuring some of the layouts that were entered in the sketch challenge.  The entries this month were beyond amazing!  There were so many exceptional layouts, that we had a very difficult time narrowing it down this month, so we have seven layouts for you.  We're sure you will enjoy seeing this month's featured layouts that includes lots of adorable children, including Shirley Temple!

Our first featured layout this month was created by Elisabeth of Norway.  She has combined paper from the Montage collection, along with a chipboard piece from the Charmed Page Dangles, and a title from the Spiritually Speaking set of words.  Everything comes together so nicely with this sweet photo.

Next up is this lovely layout by Anna Rogalska who used paper from our Frolic collection.  We love how Anna used this paper with an all-over pattern, and created such an elegant background for this playful photo.  She tucked in a piece of the Frolic Mesh chipboard behind her photo.

Tomo M of Japan rotated the sketch to create this layout using paper from the Love Story collection, which is perfect with this photo taken at a Rose Garden.  The chipboard Fabulous title was the finishing touch.

Lynette Jacobs of South Africa created the next layout with paper from our Deja Vu collection.  We love her take on the sketch and how everything compliments the photo so well.  The title is from the Perfect, Adorable, Special set of words and the large vertical piece is the Deja Vu Atelier chippie that was designed to coordinate with this collection.

Nicole Doiron of Canada, like many of you, found that we like to put our chipboard in pretty packaging, which she has used behind this sweet photo (so be sure not to discard it).   We love how she used three chipboard pieces (Tattered Diamond Bits, Fancy Birdcage, and Butterfly Kisses title) and has altered each of them in a different way.  Way to go Nicole!

Ardi du Preez of South Africa created this very dramatic layout using paper from our Sanctuary collection.  The blues and browns together are beautiful!  Once again, a Blue Fern chipboard title was used as well as some chipboard pieces tucked in behind the photo.

Shizuka of Japan created this layout for the challenge using paper from the Deja Vu collection and the Broken Rings chipboard set.  Painting the chipboard white adds so much to her layout with such a fresh look.  We also loved all the fussy cutting!

We hope you enjoyed this look at some of our favorite layouts from August.  Nothing makes us more happy than to see you use Blue Fern products in such creative ways!

Thanks to all of you who participated in our sketch challenge.  You can find our September challenge by clicking on the image at the top of our blog.

Two New Scrapbooking Layouts Featuring Frolic and Paisley & Vine by Kim Price

Hello again everyone! I'm back up on the blog today to share a couple of new projects created using the brand new collections, Frolic and Paisley & Vine. I'm such a fan of Blue Fern Studios products and these two new collections do not disappoint - they are simply stunning.

My first layout today showcases the beauty of Frolic - a gorgeously feminine collection. I've used Frolic Allegro patterned paper as my base, adding layers of fussy cut flowers and paper ribbons taken from Amoroso.

In between my paper layers I've arranged Aloha Flourish chipboard having painted it up in coordinating colors of carmine, mustard and green, then added my Always and Forever sentiment on top.

My second project for today features papers from both Frolic and Paisley & Vine.

I've used Paisley & Vine Bohemian patterned paper, adding a light coat of paint to soften the design and a few splashes of mist around the edges for effect.

When my background had dried I added layers of cut out designs from Paisley & Vine Vineland patterned paper along with a floral design taken from Frolic Veranda. The frame in the center of my design can be found on Paisley & Vine Playing Cards patterned paper.

I've then added the two floral chipboard pieces Paisley & Vine Flowers adorning the left of my design, giving them a watercolor look in coordinating shades of blue and green. I've gone ahead and tucked a piece from Berry Stems behind one of the paper layers, and used a title from Wish, Wonder, Dream.

Sadly this is my final post for Blue Fern Studios as I am currently on a year long trip away from home with my husband and I am unable to keep up with my scrapbooking commitments. I absolutely love Blue Fern products and know they will continue to go from strength to strength.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being a part of this amazing team.

September Inspiration with Jelissa

Hello friends and welcome to the month of September!

Things are definitely going at warp-speed for me now that little baby is due any time now. Sometimes I do feel like I'm getting affairs in order, which sounds so morbid!

Anyhow, I'm in today to share my September creations for Blue Fern Studios. I couldn't resist using the sketch that Michelle has created for this month's challenge even though I had a different project planned. So here is her sketch:

And my take on it:

I've never used so much purple before! But the soft palette of the Deja Vu papers made it so easy and pleasing. This is one of my favourite photos of Number 2 and hubby - don't they look so happy with their bright smiles?

Lots of close-ups:

My title, which I have left untouched but just simple priming with gesso. Not forgetting the paper layers I have under my photo.

Part of the Circle Vine chipboard which I used to frame my photo. I had cut out one end so that the whole piece fits and still gives me the flow I wanted for the page. I had also die cut some leaves out for adding into the floral cluster.

Die cut doily from one of the Deja Vu sheets.

Using the collection title from the info strip as a sentiment in my top cluster. I used the Deja Vu stamp set to create a resist for my watercolor background, plus the little piece which I had snipped off the Circle Vine chipboard. I also added some beads and distress glitter for extra texture.

Blue Fern Studios products used:
Papers: Deja Vu collection - Tresors, Atelier, Lustre, Petite Cartes
Deja Vu Stamp set, Widgets
Chipboards: Laughter, Happy, Smile
Circle Vine

My next share is a educator video I've created. I had wanted a relatively simple layout without too much clusters and a comfortable amount of white space.

Again, using Deja Vu papers. I can't seem to get enough of this gorgeous collection! The drawings on this paper is so subtle but yet they actually help to create a visual flow that framed my main cluster beautifully.

Many, many close-ups again:

The Township Collage chipboard which I had altered in a few different ways.

I've always wanted to use that bird cage stamp!

I like the dangling trinkets in the Deja Vu stamp set a lot because of the intricate details they have, just like BFS's laser-cut chipboards.

My title piece.

Main cluster with the pretty papers all layered up and I sneaked in bits of lacy flowers.

And here is how I created this page:

Blue Fern Studios products used:
Papers: Deja Vu collection - Friperies, Petite Cartes, Lustre, Atelier
Deja Vu Stamp Set
Chipboards: Township Collage, Frolic in the Sun

Our September Sketch Challenge

Hello everyone!  Since it's the first day of September, we have a new sketch challenge for you.  The entries in the August sketch challenge were fabulous, so we are looking forward to seeing how you use the September sketch, designed exclusively for Blue Fern by Michele Singh.

Several of our Creative Team members have used the September sketch.  We thought you'd like to see how they used Blue Fern products, along with this sketch:

Keren Tamir

Sandi Clarkson

Jelissa Mei

Melinda Thompson

Debbie Burns

Bente Fagerberg

Yuko Tanaka

I just love how each designer has a little something going on in the upper right of the layout (just like the sketch) and each one is so unique.  Then we come to the last two layouts, where Yuko and Marilyn flipped the sketch!   Now it's your turn to show us how you will interpret the sketch.

One lucky winner, selected by a random draw, will receive a prize package of Blue Fern Studios chipboard!

In addition, we will also select 3 (or more) layouts to feature.
We have just a few simple rules to follow if you would like to participate in our sketch challenge:

1.) Feel free to interpret the sketch as you please by means of taking it as-is or
flipping/turning/mirroring it to suit your needs, but please make sure your layout resembles the sketch.

2). Please note that you can do whatever type of project you please - a layout, card,
canvas, altered item- whatever suits your mood and style!
We would love to see the different ways our sketch can be used.

3.) You must use at least one piece of Blue Fern Studios chipboard OR use Blue Fern Studios paper on your project. Please note that you do not need to use the pieces featured in the sketch
- use whatever suits your fancy! You can find the store nearest you HERE.
 {Do not use any other brand of chipboard on your project, please!}

4.) Upload your project using the Inlinkz tool below by midnight EST on September 30, 2015

We look forward to seeing how you use our sketch and Blue Fern products!
