May Inspiration With Debbie, Featuring Tranquility

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today sharing three layouts created with the new  Tranquility paper collection, Chipboard, and flowers.  I really enjoyed working with the new papers.  The muted tones in the Tranquility paper collection were a perfect match for some added vibrant pops of color.

My first layout features the Blissful side B paper.  I added some random stamping with the Serendipity Medley and Romantic Accents stamps and misted with the Imagine Ink Winter Mint Mist.    The layers under the photo are from Calling Cards, Serenity and Patience. I also added flowers from the new Tranquil Blooms, Tranquil Lilies and Courtship Blooms.

I used the new Jubilation Corner Chipboard and embossed it with a mixture of the Mushroom, Melon, Cotton Candy and Sea Mist embossing powers. Aren't the new flowers pretty!!

To the right of my photo I used the Butterfly Friends, embossed with the same embossing powers that I used on the Jubilation Corner.

My title Serenity is from the Serenity, Calm, Hushed Chipboard set which I inked dark brown.

My next layout features the Peaceful paper and flowers from Tranquil Blooms.    Some random stamping with the Bourbon Street and Romantic Textures stamps,  embossing with Chili Powder Imagine Ink Embossing Powder and a sprinkling here and there with Imagine Ink Tangerine Glitter, along with some light masking and paint splatters.   I used the Serenity side B , Calling Cards and Jubilation papers to create layers under the photo.

On each side of the photo I used the Tranquil Foliage Chipboard, embossed with Auburn, Chili Powder, Mushroom and Sage Imagine Ink Embossing Powders. I added some dimension with  some Imagine Ink Tangerine Glitter, gold micro beads and chunky glass glitter.

Here I placed a Royal Monarch Butterfly chipboard which I embossed with a mixture of Auburn, Chili Powder, Mushroom and Sage embossing powders.

Tranquility in May

Hello Blue Fern friends!

I'm up on the blog today to share with you my creations for May. I had other projects planned for this post but this collection was too beautiful for me to put down. As usual, I like to play with light and dark background papers and this post is no different.

For my first project, I based it on the May sketch challenge although it didn't make it in time for the sketch reveal a few days ago. Below is the sketch again:

I just had to make a big deal of the blues here because of the boys' t-shirts. It also matches the color scheme of the paper perfectly. Lots of subtle details in the background as I wanted it to merge with the paper itself.

Some details in the close-ups:

Tranquillity flowers. I'm so glad BFS has released coordinating flower packs! No more hunting high and low for blooms that match.

Altering one of the roses a bit with some watercolor paint to create an ombre effect.

A chippie which I altered by first painting with green watercolor, followed by layering the embossing powders Lilac, Amethyst and with a sprinkle of glitter in Sunshine.

For my title piece "Blissful", I layered the embossing powders In The Navy, Seven Seas, Cerulean and Breeze.

Blue Fern Studios products used:

paper: Tranquility collection - Calm, Calling Cards, Jubilation, Peaceful
chipboard: "Blissful, Jubilation, Patience", "Tranquil Foliage"
embossing powder: In The Navy, Seven Seas, Cerulean, Breeze, Lilac, Amethyst
Glitter: SunshineFlowers: Tranquil Blooms, Tranquil Roses and Lilies

My second share is a video tutorial, of a layout of the boys at Rockingham Beach. Granted it was close to winter and chilly, we were hoping to make a day trip to Penguin Island just across the shore and check out the wildlife. Unfortunately the ferry trips were all canceled but we had a lot of fun picking up shells and watching the sea birds play in the distance.

I love how the whole project turned out, although there were a few bits which I thought I could have added more details - some of you may know what I'm talking about when I say I wanted to do something this minute and the next minute I've clean forgotten it! Nevertheless, I'm a sucker for woodgrain patterns and this sheet of Calm (I've used the reverse side for the first layout, that's how much I like it) really got my groove going.

Some details in the close-ups:

A cute little anchor amidst the waves. Matched with Tranquility flowers.

More altered blooms, shells and seaweed chippies.

Love how the glitter sparkles in the sunlight, much like seaspray on a summer day.

Lapping waves and foam

The title piece - Fascination. Love the duo-toned effect in the sun!

And here is the start to finish video tutorial. I have noted the feedback from the previous video and slowed things down here so that you don't miss out on the action. Sit back and have fun!

Tranquility Layouts from our Creative Team

Have you seen Tranquility, our new collection?  If not, you can see all the details HERE.  Some of our Creative Team members have been busy working with this new line, and we can't wait to show you the wonderful layouts they have created

First up is Marie-Josee Hamel.  Marie-Josee used two papers from the Tranquility collection, Patience and Calm, as well as flowers from the Tranquil Blooms and Tranquil Roses and Lilies flower sets. She also altered the Dangle Border chipboard with two of the new Blue Fern Studios embossing powders, Mushroom and Chili Powder. She used the Serendipity Medley stamp with orange and black ink.

Our next layout was created by Keren Tamir using the Peaceful paper from the Tranquility collection and creating some texture on the background with stamping from the Bourbon Street stamp set.    Around the photo she has used the Tranquil Blooms flowers.  Three pieces of Blue Fern chipboard have been used (Romantic page dangle, Shrine frame, and Optimist word set).  The chipboard pieces were colored using Blue Fern embossing powders in Auburn, Mushroom, and Chili Powder.

For her layout, Debbie Burns used the Peaceful paper for the background, along with Calling Cards and Jubilation.  The flowers are from the Tranquil Blooms set, and stamps used include Bourbon Street and Romantic Accents.  The chipboard (Tranquil Foliage, Peaceful title, and Royal Monarch), as well as the background of the layout have been embellished with Blue Fern glitter and embossing powder.

Next we have Nicole Doiron's layout using the distressed wood grain Calm paper for the background.  The texture in the background was created using the Texture1 stamp set. Flowers from both of the Tranquility flower sets have been used.  The Serenity title, Checker Bits, and La Plume chipboard pieces have been colored using our Snow and Sea Mist embossing powders.

Sandi Clarkson's layout uses the Hushed paper from the collection as her primary background.  She also used both sets of flowers that were created to coordinate with the Tranquility paper collection.  Chipboard pieces include the Scalloped Border, Organic Coins, the title Blissful from the Blissful, Jubilation, Patience set of titles.

We are so excited about this collection, and we hope you love it, too.
A big thank you to these members of our Creative Team for creating these layouts for us to share with you!

Two layouts and a Video Tutorial featuring the new Tranquility Collection

Hello everyone!
My projects today are featuring the new Tranquility collection, Tranquil Blooms, Roses and Lilies and the new products by Blue Fern. Let's take a look...
I love the soft colors of the Contentment and Serenity papers in this new collection. The sweet photo of my nieces goes perfect with it.   I made a video tutorial of this page that you can see at the end of the post.

My title is the Darling chipboard and the flowers are the new Tranquil Roses and Lilies.

I embossed and painted the Scalloped Border and cut out some flowers from the Contentment paper.

I framed my photo with the Oval Daisy Frame.

"PEACEFUL"
For my second project, I chose the warm colors from the Tranquility collection. My papers  are  the Calm and Jubilation.
The Tranquil Blooms and roses go perfect with these color tones .

The Rose Shield frame and the Peaceful chipboards were embossed with Mushroom and Seven Seas embossing powders.

I cut out the phrase and the butterfly from the Calling Cards paper.

The flowers colors are perfect with the papers.
