A Blue Fern Garden layout, Tiny Mini, and a journaling entry.

Hi, Lisa here today, and I will be sharing with you 3 different projects. A 12x12 layout, a tiny mini and a journaling entry to my journal book. The Blue Fern garden paper line is just my style. I love the colors, the patterns and the images of the vintage roses are my favorite!!
Here is my 12x12 layout.

I used  the Tattered Diamond Bits scattered over the layout. and to frame the photo, used the Beaded Strings to frame the photo. Both were painted with white acrylic paint then sprayed with Radiant Rains Mist while the paint was still wet. I added some pearls to the little circles on the frame.

I did the same paint and mist treatment on the Memory Frames. When the acrylic is still wet, and it is sprayed, it leaves a gorgeous weathered look on the chipboard.

The next project I would like to share with you is my tiny mini. I adapted the pattern from a couple of Post It Notes Covers that I did a couple of years ago. The difference is I created pages for the inside using the beautiful Blue Fern Garden paper rather than using Post It Notes.

I used Viva Color Crackle paint on the Iron Works Accents. Once the the paint dried and crackles, I painted Silks Acrylic Glaze in Olive Vine over it. I wrapped the piece of chipboard over around the book binding before painting to prevent cracking.

Here is the detailed chipboard wrapped around the book binding. I created a small charm to hang from the eyelet I punched on top of the mini before I place the inside pages in.

Here is peek inside the book. I fussy cut some of the paper to get the images centered perfectly. Then cut out all of the words in back of the paper and used them on each of the pages in the mini.

I used a corner punch on some of the pages in the mini.

Here is a close up of the mini with the seam binding ribbon closure. I used Silks acrylic paint to color the seam binding.

And finally I created another journal entry for my mixed media journal I am working on. I used the February sketch and took some of the elements in the design and applied it to the pages.

This is the left side of the journal entry.

This is the right side of the journal entry.

I painted the Berry Stems with Silks acrylic paint and after it dries, I dotted the tiny circles with glue and sprinkled microbeads of the glue. Once it dried, I sprayed a clear acrylic sealer over the entire chipboard in place to secure the beads.

Here are 2 of the smaller Berry Stems in the set.

The Always and Forever chipboard quote is treated the same way I did the Iron Work Accents in the mini.

For the 2 hearts from the Heart Set, I painted it with white acrylic paint and then sprayed them with Radiant Rains Shimmering Mist in Grapefruit Pink while the acrylic paint is still wet.

Thank you for stopping by to see my projects this month. The Blue Fern Garden paper collection is my all time favorite right now!!! I adore each and every piece and design!!

My First Post By Keren Tamir

Hi Everyone!!
Keren here with my first post for Blue Fern Studios and I'm really excited to showcase my work with these beautiful chipboards!!

but first a little about myself:

I'm 39 years old. I am a wife to a wonderful husband who is very supportive of my scrapbooking and a mother of two amazing kids; a 12 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. I've been scrapbooking for 10 years and I mainly scrapbook about my family. I love to create and experiment with many different mediums and techniques.

My style is a combination of Shabby chic and mixed media. I use lots of flowers and vines together with different artistic mediums on my layouts. My style is always evolving and that’s one of the things I love about this art.

One of the main reasons I started scrapbooking was to preserve memories and photos for my children. However over the couple of years, I’ve started to enjoy another aspect of scrapbooking. I love the artistic outlet that it gives me. I love to create and I’m passionate about what I do.

I’m delighted to be joining Blue Fern Studios on this new journey!!

I hope you enjoy my creations!!

you can also find me HERE on my blog.

Now without further adieu here is my first project:

"All You Need Is Love"
Altered Canvas

This is a 12x12 Canvas I created for a friend.
Its one of the most powerful messages, sang by one of the greatest bands of all times.
If all of us just loved, this world would be a better place!!!

I covered the Ornate Heart with gold crackle paint. Then I edged it with brown ink and stamped it randomly all over with a script stamp. I also used the script stamp on the background. Finally I smeared some gold glitter stickles all over the heart.

You can see the heart's texture a little closer below. The crackle paint gave it an antique look.
The Love title from the Valentine's Word set was simply sprayed in black ink.

"You Shine"

In this bright and cheerful layout of my son I have used a few pieces of the Tattered Diamond bits. I cut them in different places so I could spread them throughout my page.
They were first covered in Turquoise acrylic paint and then stamped with a script stamp using a darker shade of acrylic turquoise paint.

You can see the diamond bits in a close-up below. I also smeared some white gesso on them to blend it with the rest of the layout.

The title "You Shine" is from the Optimist Word Set.  It was covered in the same dark hued paint from above.

I hope you enjoyed my creations

Have a wonderful day!!

Clean Up! w/Erin Blegen

Good morning! Erin Blegen here with you today to share a few projects using some of the newer Blue Fern Studios products. I started out with a layout and then decided to clean up my scrap space and create next a card and tag using paper and chipboard scraps. What a way to get organized and creative at the same time ;)!

"What a Wonderful Day!"
I was looking back on some older photos and found this precious set of my middle child from the summer of 2012. I remember clearly this day- and it truly was wonderful :). I wanted to create something happy, conveying that through my fun color scheme and accompanying chipboard elements. Using one of the Film Strips pieces, I was able to include a few extra little photos from that day :)

I love these adorable, contemporary Memory Frames! I simply dabbed this one with a chalk edger pad.

A simple coat of yellow acrylic paint dressed up these Shabby Bricks Bits pieces, which added to my layering with fun texture and interest :)

Next up, I have my "scrap" projects:

"Love"
Since I had the Memory Frames out, I decided to create a sweet tag. After priming with gesso, I applied some clear embossing ink, mist, and white sparkly embossing powder and set it with a heat gun.

"Reach & Wander"
For my final project, I took some of the Tattered Diamond Bits and a partial Film Strips piece to accent this simple scrap card using up some leftover papers from my layout. Sometimes all you need is a little gesso and maybe some stamping and you're set!
