Hello!everyone!
It's Yuko.

A town is already a sign of Christmas... I need to use the photograph of autumn early!
It is a photograph when it is in a cosmos field.
It was very beautiful.

【happy】
"Montage" is an elegant atmosphere, but
I try to fun atmosphere.

Chip board of bricks is not a body, I used the one that was pulled.

I wound a pearl around the big circle.

Jackie's September Projects - A Layout and An Upcycled Box

Hello there Blue Fern Studios fans! I have two new projects to share with you today - one shabby layout and an upcycled project.

For my first project, I wanted to create a bit of whimsy for this photo of my youngest wearing a crown of daisies (vey begrudgingly!). Blue Fern Studios papers are so thick that they are gorgeous for tearing and distressing.

I began by tearing a diagonal strip out of the In Bloom sheet, then tore additional pieces off and layered them between the Love Letters and In Bloom papers, along with some lace. I also distressed and inked the edges, tucking in some lace and pieces of Bohemian Flowers chippies painted white.

I tucked additional Bohemian Flowers into the flower cluster - the stark white helps them to stand out against the busy mixed media background.

I cut the word Dream and the layers for my photo from the Calling Cards paper.

I love using the Mini Ring Things chippies for dimension in my background. Here I've coated them in a light brown chalk ink and then stamped them with a darker ink.

A little close-up of all the layers of media, chipboard, paper and embellies.

Are you a crafty hoarder? I am, which is how my second project came about. I have problems throwing out alterable items that might be able to be repurposed as something else, even if I have no idea what that might be. Such was the case with this little blue plastic box. Originally it housed a science experiment from the kids. Since it was a one-time-use experiment, the little box was destined for the recycling box. But I loved the size and the way it closed so snugly, so I salvaged it and tucked it away in a corner of my scraproom. This month I've given it new life - to store my resin pieces - with some gorgeous Blue Fern Studios products.

The Joyce's Dream paper from the Ombre Dreams collection is full of beautiful, subtle details. I added a little modelling paste through a script stencil and tinted it slightly with grey chalk ink, then added some splatters of purple to the background before adding my chipboard and other elements.

For the top of the container I used some of the Shabby Brick Bits coated with paint, embossing powder and chalk ink for a textured appearance.

To round out the cluster of embellishments I tucked in one of the Layering Stems coloured with chalk ink and then touched with gesso for a weathered appearance. I love these pieces of chipboard for tucking in here and there!

I finished the front of the box with one of the Spring Trinkets, coloured with various chalk inks and weathered with gesso.

Pastel Pages - With Kelly Foster

Good morning, Kelly here!
This month I want to share with you two soft, pastel colored pages. I usually reach for the bright colors but these two are a bit more subdued, and I like it!

"Sweet"

First, let me introduce you to the newest addition to my family, Oliver John. He arrived on July 7th and was just 5 days old in this photo - my first layout with him on it :)
The Blue Fern Garden papers made the perfect soft background for a baby boy page. For the main paper I used the "Love Letters" paper, and for my layers I cut bits from many of my scraps of the other papers. I kept things pretty simple...lots of white space, and just the right amount of texture thanks to the "Mini Ring Things" chipboard pieces I layered here and there. These pieces were given just a gentle uneven coat of white chalk ink.

I also added one of the pretty "Layering Stems" to complete my cluster. I love this piece!

"Perfect Moment"

This next page I used the gorgeous "Charlotte's Dream" paper from the Ombre Dreams collection. I love the pretty floral/lace texture of this paper! My background is a mix of watercolors, Gelatos, and stamping.

To frame my photo and add movement I used the Wild Flourish Frame, which I cut in two and placed above/below the photo. This piece was primed with gesso and then painted using Gelatos and watercolors.

Thank you so very much for having a look at my projects today! See you next month!!

June colours with Jelissa

Hello friends! Thank you for dropping by :)

Today I'm in to share three projects I created for Blue Fern Studios, featuring the new paper collection Ombre Dreams and some fantastic chipboard pieces.

"Count the Ways"

The first is a layout I made of my big boy, with papers from Ombre Dreams collection.  The title came from one of the most popular love poems around - Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Browning but I used it here to describe my love for my sweet and wonderful child.

Some close ups:

A frame from the Memory Frame set which I misted green.

Counting the ways with the number grid chipboard panel, which I covered with black EP.

A piece of Layering Stem. Gosh, I love these! Just perfect for tucking into any little corner of my floral cluster.

A piece from Fall Foliage, also misted with green and gesso brushed on randomly.

"Follow Your Bliss"

My second project is a simple little card. In fact, I made a card instead of my usual LO because I wanted to use the chipboards as the main features. I layered sheets from the Ombre Dreams collection and layered water colours in pastel tones, careful not to hide the lovely details the papers have.

Some close-ups:

The Twilight Garden Frame. What a lovely piece! I used gold paint on the lamp and added a layer of crackle. For the rest of the frame, I coloured with gelatos.

I used "Follow your Bliss" word as my card sentiment, which I covered with some bronze embossing powder.

"Blue Skies"

My third project is a layout I created for this month's sketch challenge. If you havn't seen it, do take a look because Michelle has come up with another fabulous sketch. And to win a pack of gorgeous Blue Fern products, just create a project based on the sketch and link it up. It's that easy!

Here is the sketch again:

And my take on it:

I used "Susan's Dream" for my background. It has the most calming tones of blues and greens, with a tinge of orange which I have used to highlight certain elements of the page. I like to use a lot of mediums and thinner papers tend to warp with so much fluid sitting on it. But the BFS papers are so much heavier (and sturdier), my LO remained pretty much the same shape even when I was adding quite a fair bit of water to bleed the colours. If you love playing with mediums like me, you'll find the quality of BFS papers just perfect.

A cut-out phrase from "Dream Cards". There are several elements that you can fussy cut out from this page and layer them on your project. I also used a gear and bird chipboards.

Another phrase from "Dream Cards" layered on top of the Mini Ring Things chippie.

The Treasured floral frame chippie. Love the delicate vines and flowers on this piece!

And here's a start to finish video I put together to show you how I did the background, as well as the various techniques I used to alter the chipboards. Sit back and enjoy the show, and do remember to play along with our sketch challenge this month!

That's all for today. Do check back at our blog again for more inspiration from the rest of the fabulous Blue Fern girls!

May Creations with Jelissa

Hello Blue Fern fans!

I'm so glad to be back here to share two layouts with you, created with gorgeous BFS papers and chipboards.

"Blessings"

I wanted a light white-washed look for this layout and treated my Blue Fern Studios chipboards accordingly.

I used the "Blessings" word from "Spiritually Speaking" word set as my title and kept it very simple with a coat of gesso, some dabbing with grey chalk ink and distressed the edges with some black ink.

And layered in between my patterned papers are pieces from "Mini Ring Things". I covered with a coat of gesso and painted with watercolours to match my background. This was followed by colored texture pastes to give more dimension.

"Moments"

My second layout uses the gorgeous Blue Fern Garden collection papers. I have very few 12x12 sheets left for my background, but am really fortunate to have one last sheet of "Parlour" left! I love the light blue and green with just a tinge of brown in the wood grain design, which matches my photo perfectly.

I have several scrap pieces of Blue Fern Garden left as well and those are just ideal for layering.

I used the Wildflower Flourish Bundle chipboard here.

A word cut out from "Calling Cards" which I used as my title.

Tucking in Checker Bits and the Graduated circles chipboard pieces into the main cluster.

Just in case you're wondering how I put this page together, below is a start-to-finish video tutorial I put together. Hope you enjoy watching it and find the techniques for altering the chippies useful!
