March Projects with Cathi

It is March and that means spring will be here soon! I really hope so as it has been raining for days here in Ireland!! Since it is a new month it is also time for a new sketch!! This month my layout features the beautiful new collection Courtship Lane. I have used the gorgeous Town Gossip and Calling Cards papers as a base for my layout.

Here is the beautiful sketch for March:

Here you can see a close up where I used the gorgeous Imagine Ink Dusty Rose glitter through a mask using gel medium to adhere it to the layout through the mask. I chose some yummy flowers from my stash.

I used the Everlasting Love chipboard as my title, embossing it with the Imagine Ink Verdant embossing powder.  I have also tucked in some of the Mesh Bits texture chipboard to add some interest to the background of my layout. I embossed them with the really distressed looking Imagine Ink Oatmeal embossing powder.

I added some metal butterflies as well as a chipboard Royal Monarch butterfly which is covered again in the Imagine Ink Dusty Rose glitter. Here you can see several Calling Card pieces from the collection tucked in under my image. I finished off my layout with a cute little paper clip on the photo, been loving those lately on my cards and layouts.

My next project is a another layout using the beautiful Courtship Lane papers. I just love the colors and designs in this new collection, vintage but fresh and spring like too with the gorgeous images and colors. I used the beautiful Lover's Lane paper as my base and both sides of the Main Street paper to build up my layers.

In this first closeup you can see the Turkish Bits chipboard. I colored this randomly for a distressed look with the gorgeous Imagine Ink Mystic Plum embossing powder.

I used stamps from the Forever stamp set in Seedless Preserves Distress Ink to give some great texture to my backgrounds. I also stamped a doily from the Weathered Doilies set in Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I used many flowers from my stash here and some fun piles of twine for texture.

At the bottom right of my layout I used several paper layers and the Amour chipboard from the French Words set.  I embossed this in Imagine Ink Mystic Plum embossing powder again. Here you can see more of my stamping and some splashing to pick up the purple.

In my main flower cluster I had a great time coloring the beautiful Symphony Corner chipboard piece. I added a mixture of Ginger Imagine Ink embossing powder and the Mystic Plum. I just love the look it gives!! The flowers are from my stash and build up the vintage colors in the papers and image. I added little bark heart from my stash to finish it off. This is one of my favorite layouts I have made lately, just love the unusual mix of colors inspired by this paper!

For my final March project I did a set of cards using the Montage paper collection. So bright and cheerful, I love how these cards turned out.

I just love using the Calling Card and Bouquet papers to add details to these cards. For my first card I have used the Sweet sentiment from the Bouquet paper. The teacup is fussy cut from the Calling Cards paper. I have used two layers from the Invitation and Society papers from the collection. I have embossed the Leafy Bough chipboard in Imagine Ink Grassy Knoll and finished off the card with flowers from my stash and some stitching. I have stamped a bit of texture onto the card using the Essential Textures net stamp.

My second card features the Bouquet paper sentiment and the Now and Then and Wisdom papers. I layered them and added some stitching, flowers and a twine bow around my sentiment. To finish the card off I used a gorgeous Brigitte Butterfly embossed in the gorgeous Imagine Ink Oatmeal embossing powder.

For my final card I have used the Fairyland paper which I have stitched and stamped with the Essential Textures stamp set. I have layered lots of flowers from my stash and added some twine loops. My sentiment is from the Bouquet paper and I have added a beautiful chipboard heart from the Heart Set embossed in Imagine Ink Dusty Rose embossing powder.

Wonders of Nature- with Paisley & Vine- By Keren Tamir

Hi Everyone its Keren here with two brand new layouts for Blue Fern Studios using the new Paisley and Vine Collection.
Both layouts have a nature theme to them and this collection was perfect for these photos.

"Wonder"

I used the "Passion" Paper for the background and added lots of natural texture behind the photo.

I framed the photo in the "Chipper Frame" which was covered with texture paste and then inked.
I also used the "Wonder" chipboard word as a title. It was painted in copper acrylic paint.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>

"Dare to Dream"

I used the Paisley and Vine "Whimsy" paper for the background and the "playing cards" paper to frame the photo and for the title.

I used the rock wall bits under the photo. I embossed them, inked them and then highlighted with white gesso.
I also used some vines from the "All natural set" and the "leafy bough". They were both inked in green chalk edgers.

Thank you for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog today
have a wonderful day!!

"Montage" Layouts with Rae

Hello everyone! It's Rae sharing some new projects I've made using the fabulous new Montage paper collection! This collection is PURE JOY to work with, and I'm excited to use it to create many more projects. Here are my first three that I've made to show you this month:

"Happiness is the Sunshine of the Soul" Layout

For this layout I used the "Invitation" and "Bouquet" papers from the Montage collection.

In this closeup, you can see part of the JEWELED FRAME chipboard. I treated this by using several embossing powders, and randomly touching it with an archival ink pad.

Here's another one:

On the edges of the layout,  I placed some TURKISH BITS that I embossed. I also used more embossing powder to treat the MINI FLOURISHES.

"Take Time..." Layout

For this layout I used "Bouquet," "Calling Cards," and "Now and Then" from the Montage paper collection.

I covered three PARTY FLAGS with various Montage papers, then threaded the holes with jute twine.

For this LEAFY BOUGH, I cut it in two to wrok better with my design. I left it "naked" then used glitter glue and loose glitter on top of it and used a heat gun until it bubbled.

"Sitting Pretty" Layout

From the Montage collection, I used "Calling Cards," "Wisdom," "Invitation," and "Bouquet" papers.

I cut a piece from GINGER'S POPPIES, and embossed it with a vintage pink embossing powder.

I painted the ORNATE SHELF with black milk paint which gave it a matte finish.

I took the inserts of the ORNATE SHELF out of the main piece, and used one of them for an accent piece on the side of the photo.

And, I used the MINI FLOURISHES again, this time using gesso, embossing powders, and a green mist for this shabby chic finish.

Thanks for checking out my projects today!

September projects with Camilla

Hi all!

September is here and I have some new Blue Fern Studios projects to share. First a layout where I have used some of the newer chipboard pieces together with a paper from the Blue Fern Garden collection. The chipboards are the Ornate Frame, the Chunky Words and the Roman Clock Set.

The chipboards are painted in white gesso and then sprayed on with Color Bloom.

The tag looks like this. I have used papers from the Blue Fern Garden collection. The chipboards are the Roman Clock Set and the Leafy Bough.

I cut the clock into two pieces and left them raw.

The leafy bough is painted in white and then sprayed on with Color Bloom.

Thank you for stopping by! Make sure to check in later to see more inspiration from the Blue Fern Studios team!

{Cards} with Patter

Hello! Patter here with you today. I wanted to share two cards with you that have the same design concept but look very different. Both cards use the Ombre Dreams paper line and the Leafy Bough chipboard. Both also use a doily, stitching, lace, and flair for the sentiment. Let's look at today's card inspiration.

Hello There
For this card, I used a portion of the Leafy Bough chipboard. I also left the branding strip on at the bottom of the patterned paper. It has a lace design on it which gave me the idea to add real lace to that portion of the card, and it also brought in a second color to the card.
To distress the chipboard, I misted it with water to peel up the leaves into more layers. I then painted the chipboard with gelatos.

Leafy Bough chipboard

Hello
This card is a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 square card. I used the left-over piece of the Leafy Bough chipboard from above.
I also treated the chipboard in the same way that I did with the above card. I did color it with different colored gelatos however.

Missing You
This is the card I created for the Blue Fern Studios August Sketch Challenge. I only used a portion of the sketch to create this card. I used the Blue Fern Winter Page Dangles chipboard and cut off the top portion of the chipboard to add the detail to the upper left corner of the card too.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will join in on the sketch challenge and also make some cards with your Blue Fern Studios products. Blessings,
